  • Your parrots are so tame, and they seem to trust you a lot. Just wondering, how long did it take for your parrots to willingly let you pet them? I have had my budgie for almost a year now and i got him when he was fresh out of the nest, he used to let me pet him, but in the last few months he won't any more. I'm not sure why. do you have any tips on how i can build my budgies trust up again?

  • @sunkissed951 I think budgies can only be taught to tolerate petting at best. They are just so small that even petting them with one finger is like running a fist over your head. There just isn't much in it for them.

  • @kiliparrot okay, that seems logical. thankyou :)

also, did duke like to be pet?

  • No wonder you are the birds mage ahahahhaa :D Nice bird ! Congratulations for both of you

  • Hi, just a quick question, would you happen to know why he does that little stretch with his wing and leg at 0:35 in the video? Our cockatoo does that as well from time to time and I was just wondering if it had and particular meaning.

    p.s. Truman is adorable! :)

  • @amyorourke It's just a wing stretch. I've seen other kinds of birds do it as well. It doesn't mean anything except that he hasn't flown in a bit and needs a stretch. The only meaning you can find in it is that the bird is probably comfortable with you if it is doing it around you. They don't do this when they are scared of uncomfortable.

  • @kiliparrot awesome, thanks for your reply!

  • awww ur parrots so cute!

how do u train them so well?

    do they have speacial qualities?

  • u r the best dude

  • Awww! So adorable!

  • 幸せなオウム君〜♪

  • capes are definitely the cutest parrots ever

  • Cape parrots are the distinguished gentlemen of the bird world in my eyes, their faces look so wise, lol.

  • He is so well behaved and cute.

  • awww, look at his wee happy face :D

  • But does he give kisses? thats the cuttest and coolest bird iv ever seen man. I wonder what kind of bird it is exactly. Iv been to pet stores but never seen a bird as cool as yours. Congrats

  • hey, is a senegal parrot a good starting bird? because i really now alot about parrots already bacause I did ALOT of research and a budgie and cockatiel just aren't realy my type.

  • @NukeDiablo Well I have no idea what your "type" is...

  • @kiliparrot Doesn't matter but is it a good starting bird?

  • @NukeDiablo For you, probably not.

  • @kiliparrot what do you mean with "for you,.." Did I said something wrong?

  • @NukeDiablo If you're looking for a parrot based on "starting bird" qualifications rather than specifically if it's the right kind of parrot for you, then it's probably not a good parrot for you to start with. There is no such thing as a starting bird. It just depends on what kind of parrot is suitable for the owner. The vast majority of the time the answer is no parrot at all.

  • @kiliparrot with starting bird I just meen a parrot that is easy to take care for, and easy to tame and stuff.

  • @NukeDiablo Yeah, don't get a parrot.

  • @NukeDiablo Senegals are good parrots if you are the right person. If you have the time to give it attention, train it, play with it, etc. and the money to provide a good cage and toys then they will make very nice pets. They are playful and sometimes cuddly. What are you looking for in your bird? Have you looked into conures? they can be loud but green cheeks are a bir quieter. they are super playful and cuddly. I have a sun conure. I have never owned a sennie but they sound like good birds.

  • Soooo adorable!! Thanks for posting :)

  • @kiliparrot is truman a grey headed parrot? from what ive heard, the real cape parrots are supposed to be endangered or something :/

  • @sAmZy1993 No, he isnt. He's a Cape Parrot, Poicephalus robustus. The exact subspecies is difficult to be exact about but most likely fuscicollis. He is Poicephalus robustus fusicollis. Only the P.r.r subspecies is endangered. The whole Cape Parrot species reclassification is a sham based on political/conservation motives and not science. I guess South Africa just wanted to have their own endangered species parrot. I have not seen any convincing evidence that P.r.f. and P.r.r arent same species

  • @kiliparrot oh okay thanks for clearing that up. im from singapore and i would like a cape parrot, but i dont think any shops sell them. do you know if i could order from a breeder in the USA? and whats the general price for a cape like truman?

  • @sAmZy1993 Doubt it, export laws are very strict. Even if it is possible, most breeders don't want to go through the hassle nor do they want to put the bird through that.

  • @sAmZy1993 dont order, singapore customs are very harsh with import of animals, they have been known to put down service animals simply because they say it's protocol

  • @coutiya2007 thanks for the advice!

  • I love to see Trumans pretty wings. They are not clipped ... that's great. Thanks for sharing.

  • I just got another parakeet as my other one died last Thursday :( But how long do you think that I should wait before messing with it,taking it out of its cage, and hand feeding it? P.S. I got it yesterday.Thank you
