I think his wording,"I want you, I want you, no more" is genius. To me it expresses the conflict perfectly - being drawn in two directions - "I want you." and "I want you, no more." He didn't say, "I don't want you no (any) more." She left to be silver model and keeps returning like a bad penny. I think it's a song about lost love and disillusionment with the trappings of fame and life on the road.
My favourite Cat Stevens song. What a prodigious talent, and such an impassioned performer live. I agree with the posts here about it being a time of re-evaluation for him. The whole structure of this enigmatic song, with it's constantly shifting accents and melodic twists and turns suggests a soul in some turmoil. This is most definitely not the composition of someone who is feeling self-satisfied and relaxed. I just love it, and always have.
A good interview by Chris Issak. A solid hour, plus Stephen - Cat - Yusef plays several past and new selections. It was his son that got him back to playing. He has five children.
Buddha And The Chocolate Box is definitely his "crossroads time" - the very title itself was an expression of the feeling of being caught between the spiritual and the material, or as this song says, he was really starting to realize "I've Had Enough".
I can't seem to find any information on the tour or how to get " invited." Does anybody know? I don't live real near to anywhere he'd go, I don't think. I'd have to make arrangements for travel. Somebody HELP!! I don't wanna get left behind!
He's so talented!! ^^ and SOOO BEAUTIFUL!! :O I'm 15 and He's my idol!! ^^ Just love him!! He have a beautiful voice! he have great lyrics and music! well...HE'S PERFECT!! ;) A real STAR!! ;) I would like to see I'm 2day! (M.Islam) I would like it alot!! Bravo! ;) thank you for the video!! ^^
i wish with all my heart that i woulda been one of the members of that audience. cat stevens is my musical and personal idol. hes amazing is music and in being just a great person in general. his music saves my life everyday.
this song is incredible. so much power, should be on all the best of cds. even tho im not the biggest fan of the production on buddha and the chocolate box, it still sounds great. would be great to hear as just an acoustic song, just like the piano brings out the song in this live version
Oh, no, don't use those same weeping eyes, I-I'll wipe them no more, Oh -woh, oh, I didn't want to have to be cruel, But the truth must be said, & you ain't heard e-nough!

I love this song.I think he's hinting he's getting a little disillusioned with the music scene.

its great to see young people like you realize the 'awesomeness' that Cat Stevens possessed , and in general, the music back then possessed.
