its not a real speedrun. hes just making use of a bug. but the point in speedruns is that of running all through as fast as you can, and you cant have shortcuts on a marathon or something can you?

You can, but you'll mosy likely get thrown out. Fortunately, there's no rules in a computer game, everything that is possible without cheats is legal and can be used.

well, i guess thats one way of looking at it, i just thought the goal is to prove that you can actually run through ravenholm really fast, mastering the actual level fast, and not running over some kind of plank in the air. well, opinions differ, and btw i consider this vid rather cool at any rate. oh, and could you tell me how to do this?

Thanks. You just carry a a plank or something flat and then you jump and puts it underneath you. After that you just jump and move forward. It requires a little practice but is quite simple once you get the hang of it.

cool man =(, but I don't like this kind of speedruns in FPS. I think the game looks stupid =(. I'm doing a "legal" speedrun, no bugs or glitches, no bonnie hopping, no altered jumping, no crosshair, but I'd like to see a true gamer doing something like that =).

I've just recently done a ravenholm speedrun like that. I managed to get the time down to 11 minutes, but that time includes the load times and a few mistakes I've done. I'm trying to get the speedrun in about 8 minutes total with no glitches, bugs or none of that crap.

you've obviously never watched any of the HL2 speed runs. You can do the fly jump technique all the way from where you started right up to the entry to the mines without going into any of the buildings you went in, or without following the cliffs or even bothering going through the grave yard.
