  • Comment removed

  • @83aoldenburg ya do know rob zombie didn't do this song right?

  • This song is like a partner to REM's "Drive." They're connected by the line "Hey, kids, rock n roll" (though this song came first) and they're both very minimal and kind of creepy, but in different ways. Both are great songs :)

  • Good one! I'm sure Essex was inspired on Donovan´s "The Music Maker"

  • WOW- 1,309 likes to the 22 dislikes- Guess the rest of us can rock on

  • Just learned from comments it got Glee'd, why, every song that makes you feel cool, listineing to in your car, late at night, is made into a bubble gum, oh those goofy teens, bubble gum piece of .... well I'll just forget about and rock on.

  • Micheal Damion covered it in about '85//// Not bad.

  • So So Good!!!!!

  • Oh my gosh, I forgot all about this song. I loved listening to it on the radio in the 70's.

  • Always thought this song was a lil weird.he says prettiest girl I've ever seen but then drops a guys name James Dean. Wtf?

  • @cereo maybe he's saying he wants to be like james dean to impress her

  • This has got a contagious beat to it!!!!!

  • By the way . If U haven't heard this in the old style "Quadrophonic" on Reel to Reel U don't know what your missing . It's just awsome !!!!!

  • Prefer the David in Essex in Eastenders!

  • Good Suff. Srew the others .

  • who are the 2 girls after the sunset picture?

  • Perfect song to get baked too XD

  • I say rock on constantly with a positive connotation. When I have to explain "Rock on." I link this song.

  • i've heard things coming outta my dog's butt that sounded better than every single thing on GLEE. How can you even watch that crap to know it sux?

i was FORCED to sit thru it once.

I had to take a bath and valium to recover.

  • very well ,lively

  • perfect. sexy as hell. as good as it gets. and fun to work out to.

  • @ckrish1 yeah so what happened to the girl you had a crush on? I remember a girl I had a crush on in Junior H.S. Then we went to diff H.S. I had a gf, we went to an amusement park, where I ran into this girl I had had a crush on. We talked a bit, but stupid me I never told her, or got her tel #, or gave her mine, etc.. Cuz of my damn code of honor.. I had a gf. I have no idea what ever happened to her. Not sure I remember her name.. Cindy or Cynthia, maybe. No idea her last name, now.

  • i remember being in 1st grade and this song was stuck in my head everyday walking into the cafeteria and thinking about that girl i had a crush on at the time. thumbs up if this gong played a special role in your life!!!

  • The best song David Essex ever did. By a very long way.

  • @Pwecko hell yeah

  • Wow. Remember this and digging it way back as a preteen. It was such a funky song. Which is the way that is clear? Blue Jean baby queen. Rock on!

  • Heavy white funk.

  • @ tjsbigidea..give em time they will

  • Just a great song

  • awsome song

stupid rap shit aint worth nothing

    rock on yall

  • I can never figure out why people think James Dean was so hot. Every movie he made he played a whinning baby. A real man assured of who he is would have never sought the praise from anybody especially if his folks were pussy whiners too. Given a decent role he might have done well but 3 movies ain't a career & fast cars also get you dead fast. Safety first Jimmy. On Sep 30, 1955 you found out physics plays no favorites.

  • Whoa! Blast of nolstagia. I remember hearing this song when I was a kid sometime back in the mid 90's. I enjoy this tune.

  • whats real funny is i went into my sisters room and she had a james dean poaster

  • the great thing about most 70s rock songs is that you can rock to them, make love to them and get high to them. rock stars in the 70s had more testosterone than the whiny annoying rock bands from today.

  • Rock On davey

  • *flails arms wildly*

  • mmmm mcdonalds

  • <3 <3 Luv this Song! even though it was made well b4 my time<3 <3 =)

  • glee just turns awesomeness into shit

  • A blast from the past.

  • haha love this song! totally turn ppl on to it that don't look like their the type haha

  • I like this version better than the Michael Damian version. Both versions are good, though. Thanks for the post!

  • havent heard this song in years

  • i heard this song on the radio in the morning, and it was stuck in my head ALL DAY. IT IS SUCH A GOOD SONG

  • @razorman543 it'll do that to you

  • @razorman543 sammmmeeee

  • SANDI THOM. GREAT STUFF

  • And where do we go from here .

  • This song is so ahead of its time yo

  • who what where eh im lost. .. im fifteen an luv it

  • @wullieready -I do believe this song to be the Basic groove of several generations and will never die on the radio ,,,,No matter what the occasion or the weather. once you have heard this Song at 3500 watts....you never doubt the Rythummmmm of the BEEEAAATTT. and the Adrenaline juices flow in all directions and then BIPP_BOPP......you become the Music and the Audio vibes pulsate in thee ,,,,,Wich constitutes Frequencies Un-heard of in previous jamms and tends to make a BELIEVER OUT OF SOULS!!!!!

  • @1962mikie cool. class. and damn good

  • i wish 1:34 -1:59 lasted longer

  • what are hippies!!!!

  • I am a flying unicorn in the infinite expanse of space! Love me! Fear me!

  • too late. michael damian ruined it.

  • it seems like nowadays the pop culture pays homage to the 80s and 90s, in the 90s it was infuence alot by throwbacks to the 70s, and in the 70s (when this song was made) people in turn showed renewed interest in the 50s. The 70s were cool but this song obviously is reminiscing about things like the birth of rock and roll and pop culture icons like james dean. paying homage to the 1950s. just my observation

  • @nknejad I see that too, but in the past it was more suttle. Like people payed homage, but in the 70's they weren't doing every other tv show in the style of the 50s, now everything is an homage to a previous decade and it annoys the hell out of me. I love the 50's, 60's 70's and early 80's, but Glee, fucking ruins everything. Just saying.

  • gotta love devil's rejects!

  • I love those strings that are slightly off-key!

  • we were not hippies, The 70's were awesome, it was a free time full of 'discos' and dancing, kids of today would have hated it!! We didn't get our kicks from beating people up, my bunch of mates didn't, anyway! You could walk down the streets without fear and we all knew each other, young and old!!! We had respect for our elders, it might have had something to do with my dad being the bouncer at all the local discos though? I would love to go back!

  • The irony is that most people thinking "Rock On" nowadays would hardly appreciate or replicate this kind of reflection, spaciousness, and subtlety, with a lack of guitar domination and the passages with strings and horns.

  • Some Kind of Kink by Red Snapper... now I see the connection (sample!) ;)

  • killing bass...

  • My favorite expression, Rock On!

  • protect this song with your lives from Disney and Glee!!!1

  • awesome video! was that you at a comic book show? Nice! Rock on, my friend!

  • Great song

  • Una máquina de canción. Viva el rock... Nunca morirá...

  • Hey kids, rock and roll. Rock on.

  • whaaaut

  • How long until "Glee" ruins this song?

  • @tjsbigidea ya no kidding, i wish osama bin ladin would target glee and wipe them off the face of the earth

  • @funnystuff1284 He's dead now ;)

  • @funnystuff1284 dont think hes gonna do to much targeting

  • @tjsbigidea I'm waiting for them to massacre The Beatles

  • @tjsbigidea

I don't know how they'd do it, but it would be really cool.

  • @tjsbigidea

How long until Glee ruins every song!

  • @dmcguire70 too true. I laughed at this comment but then sadly shook my head because you are right...and glee sucks!

  • @dmcguire70 just don't watch that gay shit, I mean I didn't know what Glee was untill about 2 months ago. If you don't pay attention to dumb shit it will eventually go away.

  • @PunkRockPat

    Absolutely!!!!!!!!

  • @PunkRockPat I doubt it will go away...half of America, as well as a large part of people in other countries certainly seem to enjoy the show

  • @NYChica23 they need to put it on that one gay network

  • The 70s got all the goodies. Man I haven't heard this in a looong time. Rock On!

  • Me pappy played drums with Les Paul in 1973, so when this came busting out of deep funk space when I was 11, I immediatly knew I was Kid rock and Roll being seranaded, and looking down, had my favorites on, the blue suede Puma's I lived in..that sealed it.... Rockin' on

  • so so true the one and only david essex

  • daamn! this cat was waaaaayyyy ahead of his time!!!! would love to have heard more of his work. takes me all the way back to the 6 grade. I know this his rock and roll, but you can also call it funk!!! trust me....i know know funk when i hear it

  • Dior brought me here <3

  • 1973 was the best year for music.

  • I fucking love this, so much man. Good baby lovin' jesus.

  • wtf? when im sober this song sounds like it echoes now that im blown away it sounds like the exact opposite

  • This is a great song, and David Essex was great in "Stardust," one of the best movies about rock and roll, and a dead serious one. With Adam Faith, directed by Michael Apted.

  • this is one of my favorite songs...for the cool "beat"........ Jimmy Dean.....Rock On!!!.....Rock n Roll is here to stay!!!! 57 1/2 years old (June 1953).

  • i dont know why people come and hate...this is a f***en masterpiece!!

    ROCK ON!
