You probably have no idea how wonderfully remarkable this presentation is.
My country (the US) is one that would rather consume than create. Our broadcast radio industry has failed. Newspapers are close behind. Television is bigoted and moribund. Our factories are closing.
When a band like this plays and invites others to do the same I am delighted. This is healthy. This suggests that your future will be full of people contributing joy to each other.
I was flattered by these words from an ex-DJ in the U.S. It's key to success for a jazz orchestra to enforce discipline as a group while at the same time to enliven spontaneity in each member. The two elements seldom go together in my country. In that respect, there's a lot to be desired from my son and his big band.
You wrote U.S. musicians today consume more than they can create. But at least they still have a rich, homegrown musical inheritance to consume, while their Japanese counterparts have none. The "greatest" jazz clarinetist in Japan has devoted his entire career to mimicking Benny Goodman. So it's been a pleasant surprise for me to have come across nonprofessional YouTube artists based in the U.S. and Europe. who eclipse "pro" musicians in Japan. That's the beauty of living the YouTube era.

Thanks for your good comment, PhilUSM. Personally I agree with you. Perhaps, though, these guys on the stage don't.
