  • I have a 2010 Flame blue SES

  • @batchnerd Nice! I miss this car. Was pretty sweet.

  • Hey what kind of Black paint did you use on your wheels? i have a silver sedan with the snowflakes and i want to paint it aswell

  • @seaknight101 I used some engine enamel. Worked great!

  • lexus is350 > ford focus

  • i like the focus alot,

i own one but its a 2008 Sedan S model.

i like the rims you did, i got crappy ones ha but i love the power on the engine for a V4

i was wondring if you knew about FSwerks, they do alot of work on the ford focus

im thinking about fixing it up, but it will take awhile you know?

but i really like your ford focus

  • @Kamikazechaos1 Thanks for the comments! It's a great car...I no longer own it unfortunately but I may look at the 2012's when they come out. I bought my upper strut bar from FS Werks...they have a lot of cool stuff. I hear their CAI is good.

  • The ses and coupe are impossible to get in 2010 model here in my area. But the se sedan looks good, too, so I'm about to get one since the 2010 models have huge discounts now. Those painted rims look good. How did you do it?

  • @newworldorderly Very cool...I like the sedans as well. I'm sure you will really like the car...they are great. I sanded the rims down and then used a self etching primer...then some black engine enamel and then a clear coat wheel finish. It wasn't very hard actually and has been very durable. I left the center cap unfinished and it looks good against the black wheels.

  • nice car

  • @FordFocusguy101 Thanks!

  • Handles extremely well huh? Ive always thought the same thing about the new Fords (I have a 2006 Fusion) but never really heard anyone praise the handling until now!

  • @TheLBCSublime

Ya it does handle great...very tight. The Fusion is rock solid too...awesome cars.

  • i got an se. i love it. i bought a stick shift tho.

  • @dirtbagarry

It's a great car. I no longer own it but def will consider another Focus. I would get a manual for sure this time.

  • i have a se....and mine doesnt have the usb port..or does it have a nice leather stearing wheel.....

  • @soxonmyfeet It's a very cool car. I'm actually getting rid of it soon sadly. But I'll probably look at the new ones when they come out later in the year.

  • man that silver looks good...i got a 09 black focus se....

  • Awesome car bro. Should tune it for speed.

  • i just got the cool flow air race intake from fswerks and its fantastic also have custom catback exhaust

  • Right on...I'm planning on getting the cool flow sometime soon.

  • awsome u do have a nice set up gonna get the bar soon too i do fell a diff way better than the stock box and i did the sam on the k&n drop in first

  • get the FSWERKS Cool Flo intake. its awesome!!!! youll love the sound of the engine and the exhaust is a little more throaty . throttle response is wayyyyy better. im squeelin the tires in 3rd :)

  • 0-60 mph is 8.4 for coupe and 1/4 in 16.4 adding short ram intake improve your time.

  • Thanks for the info! I was thinking about getting one actually...

  • Anyone know if the SE's come with the digital compass and outside temp display?

Cool car im to buy me a 4 door SE one next friday. That is only cuz its easy for the ones that have to sit in the back. If it was just me I would buy me the coupe.

Also, Anyone know the place the kill switch is on this car? I know someone that has ford explorer and someone kicked it and it made it cut off. It was inside on the passenger side some place.

  • Mine doesn't have a compass or outside temp display...

Yeah the coupe is not good if you have people in your back seat a lot. I never do so I didn't care. They really didn't design the front seat well at all for easy access...lol.

The cutoff is on the pax side right in front of the door under the glove box.

  • Thanks

  • Are you crazy??? The only thing you changed to make it E85 compatible is changed the ECU cal? Do you have any idea what E85 does to a non-E85 fuel system? Let's just say you will be replacing the fuel pump, injectors, O2 sensors...etc WOW - not a good idea!

  • haha, naw I did a lot of research before I decided to do it. It doesn't hurt anything. Doesn't matter anyway because I'm moving back east and they don't have E85 where I'm going. :(

  • why the car will not rev over 3500 on P or neutral?

  • safety reasons only on cars with A/T

  • weird bipping noise mine doesn't sound like that

  • The chime?

  • yeah

  • is it stock?

    thats sucks..

    the shit even rimed

  • Aw thanks man! I was pretty happy with how they came out. I used a self etching primer, black engine enamel, and Duplicolor wheel clear coat. Depending on if you want them gloss or flat...you could skip the clear coat and just put on a couple extra coats of paint. It was very time consuming. Just make sure you sand the wheels well first and be in an area where you have lots of light. Afterwards I saw some areas that didn't get coated well...having a spot light would help with that.

  • I just taped off what I was leaving silver...

  • Wow nice...yeah I bet that was hard.Glad you found one though, cool! As far as performance mods I've installed the E85 kit, K&N filter, and an upper strut bar. I painted the stock rims black as well.

  • I just re-watched this video. I can't tell you Joe how impressed I am with this review. I love what you did with your rims. Your Focus just looks so incredibly awesome!! Your blog is great too! You rock bro.

  • haha, thank you so much! Glad you like it. :)

  • I rented this car for a day few weeks ago, just to get a taste of another car :P. And I'd say, its a great car, especially that ford's 2.0l duratec engine. However, I just don't like the automatic transmission. : /

  • Yeah I'd rather have a manual myself or at least if they did a manumatic...which I think the next generation will have...that would be cool too! The dealers in my area have only been putting the 5spd in the cheapo models...lol...I wanted one with more options.

  • Excellent review Joe! Very comprehensive. Your new '09 Focus looks fantastic. I can tell you take a lot of pride in your car. Good for you bro!

  • Hey Patrick! Thank you for the nice comment. I love this car, it's great. I was glad to hear that it's topping the sales now too. It's a very well built car.

  • hey man u r like me one day for work i show up in my 03 jeep the next day my 90 olds wagon lol my coworkers never kno wat i will show up in

  • Ha, yup...my wagon is out of commission right now though...needs a wheel alignment after I changed the tie rods. :(

  • ford is awesome :)

  • is ur focus automatic or manuel

  • It's an auto.

  • My dad's buying one today but it's a black one.

  • Right on! I hear they are selling like hot cakes. They are great cars.

  • one more question where did u buy the upper strut bar and is there a website to get it

  • Hey man what was it that u added to the motor a conversion kit

  • Yes to run E85. I bought it from White Lightning.

  • They are the same height. The SES coupe comes with the spoiler on the roof line, the SE has it on the trunk. I've seen a few with both too...but one is added aftermarket...it looked pretty cool. But I agree, I like the one on the trunk better. :)

  • Well I want the SES because it comes with a lot of standard stuff, but that spoiler on the roof line is gonna be a big decision. But alright, thanks again bro, you've been a lot of help, I'm gonna have to choose between the SES coupe or the SES sedan

  • Would you suggest this or the sedan, because i live in michigan and i dont know how well this will be in the winter

  • Howdy! Well it really depends on your needs. I love having the coupe, the only problem is entry into the back seat. There is enough room once you get back there, but it's not that easy to accomplish! haha My last Focus was a sedan and I liked it just as much. As far as driving, both the coupe and sedan are identical. Only difference is if you get the SES coupe or you have a manual trans...they are geared a little differently for quicker shifts.

  • Comment removed

  • thanks, also, is the coupe a little shorter in hieght than the sedan and just to make sure is the spoiler always on the trunk, because i have seen pictures of it on top of the back window and i like it on the trunk better

  • I first used a self etching primer (after sanding the wheels) and they bought some engine enamel in black. I used the Dupli-Color wheel clear coat to finish it off. I would have ilked to use the Dupli-color wheel paint but they didn't have a black for some reason at the store I went to.

  • what did you use to paint the wheels?

  • I like what you did with the wheels.

I'm going to my local dealer to pick up a Blue w/ charcoal interior 09 5spd SE coupe soon.

  • Wow nice...wish mine had a 5 spd! My dealer didn't have any though when I bought mine. Best of luck...can't wait to see it!

    Joe

  • Ya it's next to impossible to find a 5spd 08' or 09' anywhere!!

  • because of it, I'd have to pay more to get one :( Damn transfer fees.

Proud owner of a black 09 Focus SES Coupe. With 17's.

  • Sweet! Throw up some vids when you get it!

  • Yeah I'm just waiting for the C A R S program from the government to come into place, It's supposed to start no later than 07/24. I'm going to get 4500 for my trade in plus 2500 in rebates so it's only going to be 10,680. I already put a down payment on it so they would hold it but I can't trade my car in yet, the wait sucks lol.

I can't wait to break it in so I can race my friends cobalt. I'll have a friend record it.

The dealer closest to my house(kansas city) has 2 SE coupe 5spds actually

  • Right on, sounds cool man. Just make sure it's not a Cobalt SS...LOL, they kick ass.

  • Lol it's an XFE, I'm not crazy enough to try to race an SS. It has really tall gearing and low rolling resistance tires so I think I'll be able to take him, at least off the line.

  • haha...sweet. The Focus moves pretty good actually. You will have a lot of fun with it!

  • Asshole! I wanted almost that, just the SES with the moon and tune package and ABS!

  • Yeah they have an identically equipped (drivers group and sync options) Silver SE coupe 5spd and I'm thinking about getting that one instead now. I went up to the dealer today because I was right by it just to look at my new car and I noticed there is a chip on the spoiler. I don't want to have a brand new car with an imperfection that's only going to get worse over time.

  • When did you get yours? I just picked mine up this past Friday. I already found a dent, and 2 scratches, as well as a few scuff marks on the interior that don't seem to want to go away.

The neighborhood i work in isn't a good place to have a new car parked, so basically it's going to get keyed in a few days. I'm not too terribly concerned about scratches, its going to happen no matter what :|

  • My delivery date is supposed to be 07/24. I haven't picked it up yet, that's the only reason I'm thinking about getting the silver one, I'm going to call my salesman tomorrow to inform him of the chip on the spoiler to see if they can get it repainted before delivery. My only concern is that they use flake in the blue paint and it might not match 100%

  • Thanks! It's a pretty cool car...you're right, it does have a lot for the money really.

  • Good Job on your maiden video!! And as for your car, it sure is alot of fun gadgets for the low price of these cars. Cool that you have a K&n too. -BOGAR!

  • Thanks John! Yeah it's cool I guess...except for the payments! LOL

  • Must be fun to own a brand new car.

Great revue of the Focus and accessories.

  • Thanks...it was a lot of work painting those things. I think when I repaint them I'll just do flat black...no clearcoat.

The E85 does give a big performance boost...I figure about 5-10 horsepower. Love the smell of it too...has a sweet odor to it.

  • Neat. Like the black painted aluminum rims, too. Adds to the car nicely.

Also like the E85 conversion, that high compression engine will take full advantage of the higher octane rating. Should give a good bit more power!
