The Army recruiter didn't WANT me. This was in 1985 when most men just had to let women know how they thought we were unqualified to be in the Army with them and most women couldn't even enlist.

I guess he looks pretty damn stupid now, saying "Go back home and work out for two years, then come back."

I think I have watched this episode a couple of hundred times now, lol. Any time I have to study, I put it on and the girls keep me going, lol. Definitely my all time favourite of the entire series. I am still looking to find a place to buy Nat's hat!!!

The guy in the Army when *I* tried to sign up didn't even think I had what it takes to make it as a soldier. He scoffed at me, and said to come back in two years, when I've "built up muscle."

He was a total jerk about it, acting like he thought no woman could POSSibly join the Army, but he was right about the coat. The smallest one practically made me disappear inside it.

Well, remembering Hg for mercury is easier than remembering the Latin word for what Hg is: hydrargyrus, or liquid silver.

Mercury is the only metal that's a liquid at room temperature. I know, TMI.

But our teacher made us remember the Latin word AND it's meaning, as well as the English word for it.

That's one reason it was easy for me to pass paramedic school w/ such a high grade.

One of the doctor's teaching us was positively amazed that I knew so much.

This is my all time favorite episode from the show. For a situation comedy during this era, the writing continually impresses me. It really feels like being in a dorm room with four girls studying for their finals- nothing feels forced here. It's just a funny, touching, well written show. Anyone who wants to dismiss "The Facts of Life" should watch this episode before they pass judgment! :)

i loved this show, used to watch it every week on wednsday nights , i think it was on at 8 or 8:30. this was around may 1984 i remember it was 17 years old, but this was the last year it was good because when they went to college it wasnt the same. this episode was so hilarious, can relate to the all night studying.
