  • by the way, this is so hard core camping type gameplay you got your smores and camp fire in that bedroom. lol i am not hating, everyone plays the way they can to have fun. I am a rusher, in your face type player but that's on console.

  • @Ubuntuaddicted yea, i know i suck. i would usually venture out and destroy my k/d trying to get kills out in the open, but the video recording software added input lag/frame rate drop, so i didn't have much choice.

  • @Spwnt it's all good man. Input/Lag is horrendous I am sure with the recording software running IF you don't have a beast rig.

  • how to play it on linux

  • @UberTheBoy within an Emulator called Wine. Lot's of reading my man. It took me only 6 years of Ubuntu to be the guru I am today. lol

  • My computer

    Intel core i7 quad core

    6 gigs ram

    NVIDIA GeFirce 9600 GT

  • If it lags Solution

    WINDOWS 7 : )

  • How many fps ?

  • i'm not sure.

  • How the fuck did you get it to play this good?!?!

  • @TehMouseh resarch. look at the appdb page.

  • steam

  • there not a wine for this

  • Do you use CD to play. Because i install in my pc and it does not work it say insert the CD

  • @keshav5000 i used steam.

  • @Spwnt do you download it. if yes can you give me the link

  • it lags like hell on my pc :(

  • @Xaahu :(

  • FU Stupid camper !!!!

  • If you played with this hardware in Windows you would play this game and battlefield 3 at the same time but, NO! You still stuck with Linux, right?

  • @supercounterstrike1 I'm not "stuck with" anything. I can use whatever OS I want.. I actually have the ability to run WIndows XP, Vista or 7 at any time... so I don't see what you're saying. What's your point? Who would want to play BF and Black Ops at the same time anyways? Or are you just trying to brag about how cool Windows is?

  • @Spwnt No, I hate Windows, I love MAC but, I gotta admit that you'll have a much better experience playing games on Windows than playing it on Linux...

  • @supercounterstrike1 Ah, I see. Well.. I would have a better experiance on Windows, but I'll take what I can get. Running an open source operating system trumps playing games for me... so if there's a few hiccups along the way so be it. Though I do run windows from time to time when there's no other option.

  • @Spwnt I so agree with supercounterstrike1

  • Can this be run in full screen? Also, what DX version does WINE have?

  • @SkidMarkHavoc wine supports directx 9 full and partially supports 10/11, and yes i can run it full screen.

  • i self use windows 7, but windows is just shit than lenux and mac.. example my pc have i7 6GB etc and still 2-3 sec slower than that pc when my pc load a game

  • how many fps?

  • looks like a map from fallout 3

  • you suck at this game

  • Or use Windows.

  • @HaloSpartanG13 Pfft, Windows... In a world without walls and fences, who needs Windows and Gates? :D

  • @mik32120 1 percent market share. LINUX 1 PERCENT!

It's dead, just get Windows. Lots of linux fanbois dual boot too.

  • @HaloSpartanG13 If 99% of all people run of a cliff to kill themselves, why should I do so as well?

  • @mik32120 Maybe there's a reason they did it. Linux gaming is like Mac gaming, a joke.

  • @mik32120 lol

  • @mik32120 i love that. thats great. lol

  • @HaloSpartanG13 linux is free and open sourced. windows is only popular because people are afraid of getting their hands dirty (figuratively of course)

  • @pikefan23 Not everyone has the time and money to get a game barely working. There's a benchmark in the related videos, "Windows VS Linux, Starcraft 2 Performance". Go watch it if you can handle the truth.

  • @HaloSpartanG13 how does it cost extra money? it's not like the os'es use different hardware.

i wouldn't call it barely working... most games run really well.. there's a few hiccups here and there but its fully playable. obviously linux isn't for the hardcore all-day play everything gamer, but for the people who just want to play certain games from time to time, it's easily doable more often than not.

  • @Spwnt If you cop out and use stuff like CrossOver.

  • @HaloSpartanG13 yea but who actually uses that shit? its such a scam. crossover is just a proprietary front end to wine. it's the same thing.

  • lols camper. but thats cool is it laggy at all like can it run just as well as windows 7?

  • @alvarg no, as it's a compatibility layer, it probably won't ever run as well as it would under the system it was intended to run on (though that isn't always the case). It runs well enough for me though, and given the right hardware it should run just fine for the average person. the only time i could see it mattering is in some sort of competative gameplay.

  • Mouselook no longer seems to be working properly on 1.3.28.

  • how is the res so low....granted ur specs are actually decent.......

  • @Starkiller1036 that isn't what i actually run it in.. but for the record the resolution in the video was either 1280x720 or around there... its just that the resolution looks low because i run my desktop at 1920x1080. it was more of a proof than anything else. i actually run the game fullscreen at a higher resolution etc. having it windowed mode in 720 resolution makes it easier to record the video.

  • @Spwnt oh, makes sense. UNder linux, I'm usually running wine to play games like counter strike source.

  • @RJHoeppner

I'm not that into it man sorry, my troll boners gone soft.

  • @RJHoeppner

    hehehe lolumad bro?

/me walks away blissfully singing "successful troll is successful"

  • CAMPER LOL

  • BANZAI 0:55

  • Yeah, the singleplayer game worked well on my system; just a bunch of installing shit in Winetricks and you're good to go.

  • eww windowed screen

  • @Anime25Fan yes, and open source!!!!!!

  • CAMPER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this is sexy on so many levels!!!!!

  • camper

  • Ok, I lagged in black ops too, I'd give wine 3 versions before it works well. 5-20 fps is unacceptable for a hex core and gtx480.

  • @MickLH303

if you do things right it shouldn't be lagging. did you disable glsl? rather than blaming wine, you should be blaming yourself for being an idiot. no one cares about your hardware. this isn't a dick measuring contest.

you can brag about your computer all you want but that stuff doesnt really matter when it comes to wine your hardware isnt the bottleneck.

  • @Spwnt

    "lolumad bro?"

Don't bash people you don't know and don't be jealous.

I never implied a "dick measuring contest", but it's sure obvious that you feel you have lost one :P

Given that I've contributed 95 diffs to wine (of which 93 are in trunk!), I've earned my setup and probably know wine better than you do....

As a side note, the figures I posted were the FPS in laggy areas of nazi zombies on maximum settings.

(nazi zombies is the only part of CoD worth playing)

  • @MickLH303 im seriously not jealous. if you've actually contributed to the wine code, then I dont see why you would make the claim that the state of wine is "unnacceptable". that just comes off as really ungreatful for someone who is getting this project for free from people in their free time. its like you're implying that they should be in a state way better than this at this point.

i think the only way to increase fps is disabling glsl. changing the texture details doesnt do anything

  • @Spwnt

If it were acceptable there would be no reason to continue coding...

  • @MickLH303 i guess thats true. i guess i misinterpreted your comment.

  • @Spwnt

This entire debacle reeks of troll from both sides, looking at it after playing CSS I think we should all just get along and get headshots rampage triple kill dominating head hunter holy shit :]

  • Man stop hip firing when you need to iron sights, stop making linux gamers look nubbish.

  • @MickLH303 He's having lag

  • because i wasn't actually playing for real, i was just testing it and making a video. i put it full screen after.

  • Why didn't you play in full screen??

  • you should get a big frame rate increase by disabling use_glsl (or something like that) in wine's registry. also make sure you are using the latest proprietary drivers. the glsl registry thing should be on the wine appdb page.

  • how do you install that, i install it and i lag a lot? did you install something extra than make it run smother, or some kind or settings in wine? my system specs are:

    ubuntu 10.10

    amd phemon x4-2 3.2GHz

    nvidia gt9500

    8gb of ram

  • CPU???

  • Cool! And big fps.

  • fuck u low camper =)

  • don't you need steam? XD

  • @HiddenAbilities i did use steam.

  • @Spwnt oh

  • dude tell us how to do that!!!!!

  • @mdawg252 i got it on steam. you can check the appdb page.. there's lots of information on there. probably more updated than this video... and there's also playonlinux which will autoinstall and configure it. it'll use the best known version of wine aswell.

  • CAMPER!!!!

  • where do you download the game at?

  • I finally got it to start up but I get a black screen plz tell me how to fix this bcause this game means a lot to me Thx a lot.

  • @MrJamesbusy you aren't giving me enough information to help you with... what os are you using? if its ubuntu 11.04.. that's a beta so you shouldn't be expecting anything to work.

there are a lot of things it could be, are your graphics drivers up to date? are you running an nvidia card or an ati card? did you use play on linux and if not did you install all of the proper dependencies with winetricks? look on the winehq site and follow the guides they have on there.

  • @Spwnt Oh SORRY LOL but I installed everything properly now but now I need to find out how to make the screen run faster like.. it shows slides 1by1 REALLY SLOW

  • @MrJamesbusy you could try installing the ppa for the nvidia drivers and update to the latest beta drivers. aside from that it's a lot of trial and error to get things working in wine sometimes. check the appdb page

  • @Spwnt i hav nvidia card

  • link it to a steam account with the cd key it comes with, then you can use playonlinux to install all the dependencies and stuff for you. you cant run most games on linux with the real dvd without cracking them because the cd check doesn't function properly.

  • I was trying to do that can u tell me how to install it on ubuntu 11.04 bcause everytime I go to singleplayer it says insert dvd rom and it is already inserted and

the multiplayer isnt picking up the internet if u could tell me how to fix this i would b happy

  • how to install steam on ubuntun how howwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww??????????????? Pleez

  • HAHAHA Linux Rlz!!! 0 lag!!!

  • how to you get regedit UseGLSL to disabled

  • ive got a bit better specs than you, with an ATI 5770 1gb gddr5. How will this run in ubuntu for me. I cant install windows ATM

  • PCs are often times 10+ times more powerful than consoles, yet thanks to the API limitation or porting console games over they look almost identical. In-other-words, PC games today are capable of being far beyond what has been seen thus far; however, removing API limitation could cause some PCs to be unstable. Quad rigs won't make that dramatic of a difference other than frame rates (etc...) you cannot see. I prefer OGL even if it is a little behind in a few areas to keep backward compatibility.

  • *competitor

  • Linux is great. The only thing the linux crew must work on is gaming capabilities. After that microsoft will have a dangerous compepitor. Linux feels more solid than the unstable full of viruses windows. 5/5

  • ew framerate

  • camping sux, camping = fucking noob sux

  • Sos Un Perro Jugando!!!

  • @BagetaMovies Or I could just use my wireless Logitech Performance MX with Dark Field laser tracking.

Go fuck yourself. The only way that your mouse would make any difference at all is if you were completely bleeding edge and playing in a tournament against other sponsored players. I could play with a fucking ball mouse and it would make no difference. All that aside you obviously completely missed the point of the video. Go take your elitist attitude and shove it up your ass.

  • @Spwnt I love you for this comment, everything I wanted to say and more <3

  • @Spwnt Just wondering, have you played black ops in windows? If so and if you know what kind of framerate you were getting, was linux all that much worse? I get around 30-60 depending, if it's much worse in linux I don't even want to download it. xD

  • @Spwnt Just wondering, have you played black ops in windows? If so and if you know what kind of framerate you were getting, was linux all that much worse? I get around 30-60 depending, if it's much worse in linux I don't even want to download it. xD

  • @JooseyJayRemade linux wasn't as good as windows, but it was good enough for me. if you're interested i would recommend giving it a shot. wouldn't recommend it unless you have an nvidia card though. radeon is very poorly supported in wine.

  • @Spwnt Yea I tweaked my config to give me a good... 40 fps or so constant in windows. Could only get black ops to show the Game Not Available error from steam when I ran it with wine so I gave up after about 4 hours of hacking away at the terminal. Do you have a guide that you followed to do it?

  • @JooseyJayRemade no i don't have any guide. i just hacked away at it like you did. you could check it out a program called play on linux though. it'll autodownload the best version of wine for the game and install all of the winetricks dependencies for you automatically, and it'll configure regedit for you also. i haven't used it personally so i can't tell you how well it works for black ops but i have used it for a few games in the past. also don't forget to check out the wine appdb page for it

  • @Spwnt Yup, I was using PoL and wine, but no dice. I'll probably try again later... maybe google some guides xD

  • @JooseyJayRemade do you have an nvidia card?

  • @Spwnt I got it working, but my fps seems to get exponentially worse as you add more gpu usage, same fps in low resource situations, but on linux it drops faster. Earlier I was having problems with sound stutters and everytime you shot it would basically freeze for a few secs. But all in all it's running so hopefully they have better drivers and maybe wine will respond a little faster to games in the future. ;D

  • @JooseyJayRemade make sure you are using the latest beta drivers for your card. if you're using ubuntu it doesnt use them by default. are you disabling glsl?

  • @Spwnt Yes, I read to disable glsl for performance, and the only drivers available to me are 173 and current which is 270.something. That is the drivers ubuntu provides anyways, not exactly sure how to install anything besides them. :/

  • @JooseyJayRemade if you search you should be able to find a ppa for the beta drivers. linux is a lot of trial and error and wine is even more trial and error.

  • @Spwnt I tried to manually install, spent 10 mins trying to figure out how to disable x server on start, then I spent 10 trying to figure out an error I got after the EULA and before it edits my xorg profile. Can't get past it... I'll try looking up the ppa. :/

  • @JooseyJayRemade yea setting it up manually is a pain and it can really fuck up x if you do it wrong so i wouldn't recommend trying that unless you know what you are doing. i would link the ppa, but im running arch atm and I don't remember where i found the ppa.

  • @Spwnt Damn... cause I found one and added to sources but it failed at apt-get update... :/ And that's all I found on google. If you find it randomly let me know, I'm using 9800m gs which is pretty much thrown in with all the others, it's on 285.03 beta.

  • @Spwnt I looked and it's 270.41.06

  • @Spwnt is flaming nessacery like come on really on the video of linuix with black ops running on i am about to install linuix.

  • @eastsidebeastkidx holy run-on sentences batman. that is hard to read, so i'll only respond to what i could decipher... yes it was necessary. i don't care if people use linux. i don't even care if people hate linux... but if someone comes on to a video about playing games on linux made for people who want to play games on linux and they just trash talk the os, then yea, i'm going to tell them what I think.

  • @Spwnt there is no need to trash talk and how am i running on and on when you flammed before me i am just letting you guys know its not needed here please flame else where.

  • @BagetaMovies Hey fuck you guy

  • omg i can't even run call of duty 2, i get program error

    WOW

  • Video like this makes me wanna switch to Linux full time. I am going to build a dedicated Ubuntu box, and use it as my Linux box.

  • linux ftw

  • @msa144x 1 percent market share ftw

  • Sweet linux

  • LOved it.... Sweet Linux... thanks to the wine team... You guys rock,,,

  • LOved it.... Sweet Linux...

  • hello, how do you get steam working? I have wine, I have installed steam, but when I run steam, after it logs in, loads friends, it just crashes immediately with no error; how can I fix this?

  • @djAmored look at the appdb page

try installing ie6 with winetricks theres some more stuff, just look around.

  • @Spwnt Thanks man. I used PlayOnLinux, and it installed all the necessary fonts. However, when I run BlackOps, it says, "Preparing to Play Black OPs" and then doesn't start. Counterstrike works, Far Cry 2 wroks, others work, but not BlackOps, game just doesn't load, but shows the steam message as if its going to launch it, what may be causing this problem?

  • @djAmored I have the same problem!

  • @djAmored

i had the exact problem what you have to do is download crossover its free for 14 days(or you can have a full account) then on the list it should say steam download and install it and BAM there you go i did this aswell hope it help :)

  • @djAmored look up PlayOnLinux it is a gui for wine which auto configures the game for you and you can install steam right from it. PlayOnLinux is the best tool to use when playing windows games.

  • @djAmored get Playonlinux and just follow what it tells you but dont mess up or u half to unstall it

  • Comment removed

  • @Dragonsinrunescape i downloaded it off of steam but if you're looking for other means to download it google is your friend.

  • Nice camping! =D

  • @TheCrazyFinn recordmydesktop causes mega input lag. its pretty much all i could do.

  • @Spwnt It's still pretty cool, I mean that's a legitimately good camp location, it would seem. ;)

Besides, on my Windows PC this game lags just as much, even without recorders... XD

  • Btw very nice vid

  • Maaate I'm going crazy trying to find out what this track is called and who its by, can you tell me please?

  • youtube made me change the song from what is was originally because it was a copyright violation

  • Awesome bro!

  • cool! but what's with the music?

  • Very Nice
