Believe it or not, MonserFest used to be the ENTIRE month of October, commercial free! I rarely slept 1999/2000-ish during that month! God I miss that time! Non-stop classics.

TCM is pretty good. They showed the original Blob the other day. I think they have access to a lot of the monster movies Turner used to use for Monstervision back when TNT was awesome in the early 90's.

Nowadays we have very little classics and more modern classics, at least they still have the Three stooges.

Yes Monsterfest was better then Fearfest especially in 02 I really like it that year. Fearfest isn't that bad the only thing that I don't like is they play the same movies alot they tried to get away from that last year.

I remember when AMC Monstersfest played nothing but classic black and white horror flicks during Halloween. Last year they showed a little bit of that, but mostly they played crap like Constantine. CONSTANTINE?! That's not even a fucking horror movie!

The First Monster fest I watched was the one Hosted by Carmen Electra

1997-1998 that got me into it!

BUT changing to fear Fest and playing more shows like Mad men then Horror and Sci-Fi films is making me not want to watch the week long Marathon..

monsterfest 2000 hosted by whoopi goldberg was my favorite. it was really the last good one for me too. i had so much of it recorded. i can't begin to explain just how much dread i felt in my gut when i lost the tapes years ago.

Monsterfest used to be fantastic! Zero ads and nothing but the greatest monster movies. Now they changed it to FearFest and added a lot of crap movies like Pinata Survival Island with an infestation of soccer mom ads. AMC is crap now, so I think they should re-name it to CrapFest.

I understand that the tastes of the US cable market has changed. (I do NOT agree... but I understand!) That being said, is it not still possible to have ONE night a year where we cater to those who crave the classics! Throw us a bone on Halloween! (Pun intended!) Could AMC stop showing 'Mad Men' for 5 MINUETS and remember that Movie Classics is 2 thirds of its title!

this was Monsterfest 2000 actually, I remember it like it was yesterday to. I waited nearly three months for this to come on, I was like 13 years old but I hardly slept at all the entire 5 days!!!!! Man has AMC went to the shitter or what???? The last true Halloween Movie Marathon, literally - AMC was not just great at Halloween marathons, they had Alfred Hitchcock Marathons, John Wayne Marathons, even Charlie Chaplin marathons, AMC at one time was three times better than TCM in my opinion.

I miss the old AMC. they always played the classic Universal Monster movies around Halloween. It plays a lot of crap movies these days. Disney Channel is the same story. Bunch of crap. They don't broadcast the old school Halloween cartoons anymore.

I disagree, I think AMC is a lot better now than it used to be. For the longest, AMC, Encore, and TCM had the same format: showing old B&W ('classic') films. Out of the 3, TCM had (and still has) the best selection of old movies --ones that weren't wholesome bullshit and/or boring. With the exception of Monsterfest AMC (and Encore) really used to be crap. They showed only old B&W movies that weren't popular even when they were new. At least now AMC has good movies, "Breaking Bad" and "Mad Men."

I agree, don't move for AMC! Channel gets worse every year--as does their watered-down, hipper, more modern MONSTERFEST, as kolchak72 so correctly explained.

I agree Turner Classic Movies at least does still show the old classics on Halloween night, however, their annual lineup is starting to get pretty stale at this point (usually just a turn-key FRANKENSTEIN movies marathon every year now). They need to freshen things up (variety) for a change.
