@Ohai4chan Right on! 26 episodes (and maybe a movie or two) should always be enough of what an anime has to say. That's why I hate long winded shows like DBZ, overdrawn and pointless plots and inferior animation. But then again, this was one of the first anime's I ever watched (at age 10). So maybe that has something to do with! :) It kind of gives me a highly critical sense of taste. It's like eating expensive foreign foods and then suddenly being forced to eat McDonald's.

@onionships same here i used to watch it way back when i was in 5th grade, there was new episodes on adultswim every thursday even though it was late i still stood up and inuyasha had new episodes too on tuesday :D those were the days when toonami had new things going on saturday then you can also look forward to adultswim picking it up with even more new anime, full metal alchemist, s-cry-ed, trigun, lupin 3rd, cowboy bebop, but eva was too unique and complex in my old days :D

I got very confused by the What are dreams part for thousands times.
Rei said we can only find happiness in our dreams.(dreams...maybe a symbol of unreals, beliefs, fantasies, fake happiness) But Shinji thinks they are not real and no one can actually accept that as real and be inside. Rei point out it's the way Shinji(or us) uses to escape reality(which is sad or hard) and those are dreams with no one exist.
There's a poetic part in End of eva (What are dreams?part) Shinji ask he don't know where can he find the happiness. Rei said "so you can just find happiness in your dream" "Then this is not reality.This world where no one exist?" "No.It's only a dream." "Then I don't exist here either." He answers that he pilot it because he get his value by piloting Eva[Symbol of "following thinkings by others"]. He say he has nothing but Eva. It shows that he identifies his self image by others.
"Evangelion" is a meaningful animation. It presents a clear idea which other people will always affect our own image observed by ourselves. So, we can't recognize our own image by ourselves and we just listen to others and follow the thinkings by others. So, when others hate ourselves, we hate ourselves either.

It is as same as everyone DEATH if I were Shinji. Surely,no body knows what is really happening after turning in to LCL. Maybe it's coming together of soul, or just simple melt into orange thing and dead.Or it can be understood as they die and come together. What is after LCL is like what's after dying. He answers that he pilot it because he get his value by piloting Eva[Symbol of "following thinkings by others"]. He say he has nothing but Eva. It shows that he identifies his self image by others.

two things i've just now noticed in this masterpiece...
if you pause it on 6:16 (a different number for the "the beast''), you can see that the rei clones turn into shinji. Also, from 6:28 onward, if you keep pausing and playing for a second, it starts to sound like a tape being played backwards (how ironic).
