  • P.S You sound like Owen Wilson (Marley & Me dude)

  • I didn't mention pitch because I don't believe I changed the tempo of the samples, and they were a match according to mixed in key, so i didn't need to re-pitch.. it is a little too difficult to explain here about how to re-pitch a sample. but go to the envelopes section for the clip, click on pitch and adjust accordingly.. also instead of using "beats" for warping use "complex pro"

  • @JoshuaCasper22 Luckily I came back to this video, you didn't direct reply me! :L But yeah I sussed it after my friend who uses Ableton taught me. I wish I had Mixed in Key myself, but it's expensive

  • You didn't mention pitch once :S that's like crucial for a mashup! Where can you change the pitch of the acapella to harmonize it with the instrumental?

  • very helpful thank you.

  • great tut thx!

  • Ive been tryn this at home wit my own music but for sum reason when i raise the bpm on segment bpm the accapllla gets slows down ( i dont get it is it a setting i have on???) the instrumental is perfect i get it ryte away but having problems wit the matchin the accpella.( i have my globel bpm set at 100bpm and my instrumental set at(100bpm)..even turned on the metronome and that matches the instr. Perfect but not the accapella even when i change the seg bpm for the pella to 100 any ideas...thank

  • i just tried to close the full screen by pressing the X on his screen hahahaha

  • "You can see it so you don't even need to listen to it" - I've been thinking about how that fact has changed music production. Good thing? Bad thing? I guess it depends. Great tutorial. Thanks

  • @csselement i think it makes the process much more efficient and precise, but you can't replace actually hearing and using your brain to analyse how it sounds.

  • I agree. Ironically, Live has a few tools to reduce the 'precision' factor (grooves, for example) to make things sound more 'human' and in essence, imperfect.

  • where do you get your instrumentals and acapella's from

  • the instrumental is longer when I do it lol what did I do wrong? I record exact as you did

  • Is there any way you could do a video on the last part of your video that you had pre-created the warped acapella i.e. 4.03 mins in ?

I find this the trickiest part of mashups and appreciate any tips.

  • @diskokittenopel if you are talking about warping an acapella, i do that in part one of this tutorial, this is part two....

  • very very descriptive man...just got ableton and this is probably the most useful tutorial ive seen yet..thanks so much for taking the time!

  • can you explain why you put the original and the acapella into the project? is it just to be able to control the BPM?

  • @maxmilder i sync the original with the acapella because i find that it is bar far the quickest and most accurate way to warp an acapella!!

  • great lesson, easy to understand. I am new to ableton live 8 switching from Logic, and learning the workflow has been difficult. I am trying to mix eminem soldier and sade soldier of love, and I haven't been able to find any acapella. If you are open to suggestions, I would love to see a tutorial or final mix.

  • great stuff. easy to understand. I am trying to mix eminem Soldier and sade soldier of love. Cannot find any decent acapella for either. if you take suggestions for tutorials I would love to see that worked out. I am new to ableton live 8, just used logic in the past. Trying to learn the workflow has been challenging.

  • Sounds good, but what if the acapella does not stay in time. Do you have to manually warp, it or is there another way.

  • when i save them the only way i can open them is using ableton and i want to open iot as an mp3 file how can i do that ?

  • @ivanhec you need to export as a .aac or .wav and then convert to .mp3... check out some videos about exporting...

  • really good job !!!

  • wat if u dnt know that the pella is 116? was the riddim and the vocal both at 116?

  • I know how to do most of this stuff, but I still like to watch how other people do things. You had a couple techniques that I have been doing totally different, but I like your way waaaay better. I score you an A on this first tutorial. Very clear and at a good pace, not to mention very useful.

Can I suggest you let a little more of your track play out so we can see cause and effect and also just to check out your sounds!

Keep em coming. I'll keep watching!

  • AWESOME JOB IM a dummy to ableton definately a good start
