That actually looked really good. I've never made Texas Chili. In fact I'm not familiar with it. I would say that looked almost like a Hungarian Goulash, except with chili powder and cumin instead of paprika. You serve Hungarian Goulash with sour cream as well. Hmmm....
@Riccy102 Isn't it amazing how many foods are alike? Texas Chili has some really devoted fans who would grab weapons to defend the originality of the recipe. LOL. I think they're great fun. —Dennis
@dankhan69 I think the flavor would would be good. It wouldn't be Real Texas Chili, of course, but the idea makes me think of Pasta Fagioli, and so I would definitely give it a try. In fact, I might just experiment with this myself, as a variation on the chili theme. It seems like it would be good, hearty food to warm the body and soul in winter. Definitely worth a try. Thanks for the idea.
I live on the other side of the tracks too in a trailer (mobile) park. I hear the lightrail, trains, planes, freeway, coyotes, wild turkeys, hoot owls and feral cats. I'm from CA and even I know TX chili means NO BEANS. I make mine with ground beef, and sometimes sausage and dried beans (or canned if they are on sale) most of the time to stretch my trailer park budget...:). Yours looks mighty yummy though. Can you also thicken chili with corn meal?
@lulugemini I had to do some research on corn meal. It contains no gluten and very little starch; therefore it would not have much thickening power. You'd need to add a lot and that would change the texture and flavor. Corn starch would work better.
Hi,
your channel has a unique name..
I like your Texas Chili recipe but i miss the onions, they add flavor and thicken the sauce..
I guess there are as many Texas Chili recipes as there are Texans ;-)
Here in Germany a Texas Chili is a "chili con carne" with the beans....and corn!! xD xD
