We actually learned about Westboro in one of my college classes (and we went to their website..totally rediculous). I can't believe they'd show up to that poor girl's funeral. Yeah. Some of the people were really hardcore, which was surprising to me. It wasn't as peaceful and I was thinking it would be, but I guess that's expected when you get several hundred emotionally-charged people from the community together. =) Interesting experience. More fun than the caucus!

I wasn't protecting anyone, nor was I screaming either. But I don't want these hate-mongers coming to my town attempting to spread their message. Society defines what is socially acceptable, and I think Reno demonstrated well that we don't want them here - twice now.

Take this funeral, for example: the WBC is cast as a terrible organization for protesting it; but you, who admittedly have no attachment to the family or feelings about the victim, will be lauded for showing up at the same funeral to counter-protest their message. Face it NickWhitePower . com, you're essentially a funeral picketer: You didn't consider it too sacred an event not to show up at it with your own unrelated agenda.

Lets see, I defend freedom of speech. When i was in the army i defended all our freedoms. They use try to hide behind freedom of speech to spread defamation about soldiers and harrass the family members of my fellow soldiers. There is a such thing as destroying your own freedoms.
