  • I recently bought a dhol and both sides have bolts to tighten the skin. My bass sides good... but i think my treble side needs tightening. Do i just use a normal spanner to tighten the treble?

  • yep you just use an oridinary spanner.. but make sure u tighten very slightly at a time and evenly.. though it is wierd 2 have bolts on both sides =S

  • thnx. well i also have the rope going around the dhol. is that used to tune the bass?

  • originally yeh.. the bolts are used to tune the trebble and the rope is usually for the bass.. but i dont know what ur dhol is all about really lol..

  • akhilviz..you`ve brought a punjabi dhol, they are the ones that have bolts on both sides so yeah you can just use a normal spanner to tune it

  • Thats really good, i feel like i can do an entire show.

  • thanks =]

  • Heyy...im a tabla player ..and i just naturally play the dhol..but i must i say ur videos r very good for beginners:) so ur doing a good job keep it up..but i wanted to know if you have any dhol breaks posted up....if u get what im saying, like what you will play to enter the chaal or hich ..in tabla we call them mukdhas ..basically entry bols to the beat being played...if u can put it up..it would be really really nicE:)..thanks

  • 1stly thanks a lot. 2ndly, yep i know what you are talking about.. i will post them when ever i can. my dhol is broken at the moment and i dont have time, so can't really say when.. but i shall lol

  • im gonna give you a little tip at the starrt when u were plying the notes really slow u kept the thilli on the treble dont do that take it right off the treble after u`ve hit the treble k kl

  • dats wicked, i got taught the exact same thing 2 frm my lesson! whos your teacher?

  • im not part of any group at the moment, but i used to be taught by 1 of the members of "the ambassadors of dhol" ..

  • nice job bro

  • lol thanks

  • thats you?

im thierd generation indian-jew that born in israel.. most of the indian here lost their roots, but me? nah

im playing bulbul-tarng tabla pungi and i got many western and jewish instruments too..

can you tell me how much dhol cost in the uk?

  • that's pretty impressive, tabla is a wonderful instrument. a good dhol in the UK starts from about £150

  • ैwow!! really..?!

well i delete the option to send you money to buy&send me one hah shit..

    1£ = 9.somthing shekels..

i feel poor hah.. lol im really an broke in here but in the uk im extra broke!

maybe ill sell one kidny and will have half of its cost hah

  • hahahaha, u can always get 1 from India, and then kit it up as time goes by. but do hope u can get a dhol at some point(the safe way lol), its a great instrument.

  • hah safe why..? the dangeurs why is to rub somone?!.. umm ill rub the first person with a dhol but there is no one in here.. all the indian are from regions where there is no dhols..

india, nahhh its too big taxes in isreal will make the prise of one dhol to the prise of 3 hah

and i trust you(: you seems like dicent cute girl :P am i wrong?

sorry sorry soryy X2325 about my english..

    its such a nerdi languge.

  • hahaha, by safe i meant without selling a body part or organ lol. yes i am a decent girl lol. but i really do hope u get a hold of a dhol somehow, at sometime, it's fantastic!

  • ohhhh ahahahah its was a joke rani!! :P lol

and its fantastic in did, i play bulbul tarang a little and tabla.. cheack you inbox!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • oh one more thing thank you for showing women can play the dhol, it kinda bugs me when guys tell me women dont really have the nack, im trying to prove some people wrong

    great stuff =D

  • heya =] ive just watched your 4 videos one after the other on how to play the dhol, and thank you so much for putting these up =], i dont have a dhol yet i need to have a look in southall, would u be able to give an aprox price for one? wicked teaching techniques, its easy to follow via ur instructions and demos! when i get one i will definatly be learning from your videos

    thank you =]

  • go to india mate, cheaper and better quality i got mine from der

  • i would if i could, just havent got the time to go there for the next few years

seen some, 1 for £100 with free dagga, tilli and belt - does that sound like a bargain?

  • I'd say you could get a good quality one from southall for roughly £150 and that will include the belt lol. not sure about the tilli's and dhaggas. ur gona have 2 do asian bargaining with them for that lol. but jas musicals in southall is the best place 2 go. I got my dhol kitted up there! all the best!

  • oh right cheers ye i had a look around at prices, theres one for £100 including everything else, but i have to order it online. i would rather get it from jas's is yours the standard one?

thank you for getting back to me =]

  • that's a good deal! mine is from india, but i stripped it and got everything re-done on it from jas musicals lol. so at the end of all that, only the wood structure is what's left of the indian dhol =P

  • it is a good deal, but whether i can trust the company. i guess it cost you a lot more then if you got it all re-done

so would you say for a good quality dhol i will be looking to spend £100 - £200?

  • yeh 4 a good quality dhol from london, id say ur looking at around £150 i mean with those dhols ur garunteed a good dhol, when buying off the net.. i dont know.. u dont have 100% garuntee it's going to be perfect

  • cheers, thanks for all your advice

i will definatly go into jas's shop and have a look and also bina's i think its called!

  • bina is goood.. i prefer jas musicals, better quality.

  • ok then, il go to jas's then =D
