i feel really sorry for steve howe this is only in 86 and you can already see how badly hes aging he probably didnt take that much drugs in the 70s although im not sure. i think it must be hard cus when he was younger he was a decent lookin dude can somebody tell me if he had some sort of illness im not makin fun i just wanna know
@guitarreilly Steve Howe always lived very healthy so that's kinda the irony! saw him play live 2 months ago. looking like a corps almost but very very energetic! he's the best! :)
@TheMusicalBox22 yeah i didnt think he was into drugs i think his aging has made him quite bitter i met once on holiday randomly and we were praising him and al that and he was quite rude and seemed to want to get away from us like we were herassing him or something
@guitarreilly ooh you met him! woa so jealous!! i always thought of him to be a silent man, tried to live out of the spotlights, just loves to perform :) but I'm not sure either. I'm only 19 so haven't been around for that long haha!
@TheMusicalBox22 yeah im only 18 met him when i was 16 told him he was an amazing guitarist and my idol and tried to shake his hand and hes slapped it instead i learnt later that he doesnt like to shake fans hands incase his hands get damaged i mean cmon that is bloody weird and ridiculous he hasnt lost me as a fan i still love his music and that
@guitarreilly oh haha I'm even older! didn't expect that. At the Yes concert people asked me if my father forced me to come. lol! but that indeed is strange of him.. good thing ur still a fan though! Saw Hackett a week after i saw Yes, he seemed much more relaxed. He was quit funny! and awesome haha. :)
@TheMusicalBox22 haha yeah i went to a yes concert a year ago with my dad loads of old guys desperately hangin on to their last bit of head hair it was great they sounded so tight but my dad got kinda depressed as he first saw them in 1971 when they pllayed the yes album and now he was watching a bunch of old guys bangin out their back catalogue not even all the mebers were their only steve howe, chris squire and alan white
@guitarreilly I saw them a couple summers ago - sounded fine but honestly one of the most boring concerts I've ever been to. Save their 2-3 rock radio hits, the rest of the stuff is very monotonous - goes nowhere. Steve did play great though - they all did - it's the material that doesn't cut it.
You gotta love how Steve Howe looks like he has just recently been dragged through a thorn bush by his ankles in this interview. Love both guitarists.
@dfaband Look at him now: like he was dragged through a thorn bush by his ankles 35 years ago. He's pleasantly normal in this video. These days he up his own arse and prattles on like some old fart, actually believing what he's crapping on about is of any interest to anyone. Silly old wanker.
What a stupid dumb interviewer, she barely had knowledge of whom she was intterwiewing, In UK and Quebec, the guys are well respected... I guess the Blokes just simply complied, Hey if Britney Spears can make it, let's play the game, pitty rubbish...
F*** BLABALBLA with bling blings and all, I don'tsubsribe to that F* BS. 2 Great Bands YES, and sorry for Genesis, when Steve HAckett left the Band, they sucked.
Thanks for posting this...I am asking for anyone if they have Hackett and Howe on MTV when they were Guest VJs on video??? I can't seem to find it on the Web.
wow....now they have douchebags like the RACIST KAYNE WEST....who calls himself a genius....HACKETT and HOWE didnt call themselves geniuses they ARE GENIUSES their MUSIC SPEAKS FOR THEM.....KAYNE's "MUSIC" is just filled with hate
steve hackett also one of most underrated guitarists all time..EVH got his tapping thing from Hackett,he said it...and would Howe play w/anyone who wasn't up to his caliber...and for anyone who is wowed by Howes ability to play every stringed instrument and well, check out Phil Keaggy, maybe most underrated guitarist all time
Boy, the moment the lady at the end explained what it was like to see a ball park frank plump up, I was like "Damn, I remember the moment I first saw a ball park frank plump!" Ahhhhh, good times, good times
@JonWRowe yeah, steve is a great guitarist and cool as hell, but the last 25 years look like they've been physically rough on him. still a living legend!!!!
Oh GTR, the biggest dissapointment ever. Yes they made pop music that wasn't that bad really, but when you put Hackett & Howe together in one band you expect sooo much more. A shame it all fell apart so quickly. And odd that the production of the album generally buried the guitars in the mix, heh.
@xeractus Dude, the guitars were driving the synths. And hey, after the 70's both of them were trying to distance themselves from prog rock--it became the foot fetish of the music world, you could say. So building a 20-minute epic in 11/8 wasn't exactly what worked for the time. :P
@butcherbird52 You have to agree. Although the BEST music from Genesis WAS when Hackett was in the band...like him, I believe that once Peter left the band, Phil was fine on vocals, but his Pop ethics made the consecutive albums musically worse, but commercially better. Steve left after the album Wind & Wuthering, and the music left with Hackett. Too bad the success of Genesis was based on the "units moved".So, in closing it wasn't "successful" until he left the band!
Two of my all time favorite guitar players- now if only they had made a tasteful instrumental guitar duet record, with a band on a few tracks for some off the wall electric stuff and not the utter garbage that was GTR. I mean, Max Bacon guys? Really?
@AragornIsStrider Anne Diamond's 'Is it true you travelled in a breadvan?' question to Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford looms large in this viewer's memory, speaking of total squares and ditzes!
Lol, that pretty but ditzy lady didn't have her facts straight. She asked Hackett if he was nervous to have left his successful big band for GTR. Hackett tells her that he left his "big band" in 1977! lol
@matic3060 yes and if you think about it,it seems that was a nice time for guitar "crossovers",a few years before we had andy summers and robert fripp playing together, those are the kind of thigs that make you shit your pants
these 2 collaborating was absolutely amazing, GTR not the best album ever but the tour they did for GTR was absolutely incredible an acoustic set from each a collabarative guitar solo then some genesis and yes songs absolutely amazing
First a bubble gum interview with two geniuses and then...Ralph Macchio, Joe Piscopo, Jello and Ball Park Franks! That little groan of delight when the woman bit into the hotdog should have been censored! She enjoyed that a little too much! Mmmmm! Beef, pork and VEEEAAALLLLL!!!!!! Come on Steve and Steve! Step right up and dig in! We prepared these especially for you two! And just for being on our show, as a way of saying thanks and good luck, a year's supply of Jello and Ball Park Franks!!!
My God she just can't take her eyes out of Hackett. She barely looks at Howe even while addressing him.
What a let down GTR was. Just an outlet for Hackett to get MTV airplay and be introduced to a new generation.

Howe ... The best option -> John Wetton !
Hackett ... The best option -> John Wetton/Tokyo Tapes - 1996
Max Bacon ... A nice guy, just a nice guy !
GTR ... With Trevor Rabin ... Who knows ?
