  • @IceWarrior so what are you a Leafs fan? Because if you are then let's talk about '93. Starting to feel a little bitter now or what? Leaf fans are the most annoying fans. Nothing to back up their big mouths and Stanley Cup predictions in October. Montreal at least makes the playoffs consistently enough.

  • watching hockey in french is like watching soccer in spanish, funny as hell, and you still get the basic of what's going on. I don't speak either language

  • im a habs fan and even i agree thats a bad call

  • habs fans are the most annoying fans in the entire nhl

  • @thespennyb habs fans rule!!!! go habs go!!! its called being a fan for a reason u annoy the other team. :p

  • As a habs fan, I would say it is a goal. However, it is true that referees do not apply the same rule concerning puck possession, so I think it would be a good idea to establish a clear definition to "puck possession" whether it is a simple contact like this one or a complete possession, a bit like in football ( completed pass or not).

  • I love people still arguing over this two seasons later LMAO.. lamer Habs and Sens fans get a life..

  • @IceWarrior101 tool

  • @meds613 oh ouch... I don't think I'm going to recover from that one.

  • @IceWarrior101 u commented on it too? get a life

  • @chadly68 yeah but read my comment.. I wasn't arguing over it...

  • The ref is a dumb ass montreal didnt touch the puck thats a good goal

  • Im confused why did they wave it off?

  • The referee blew the whistle before the goal though... if the whistle had been blown the play is dead... probably caused the goalie not to react...

  • @mickaelx99 Probably? Not even close man...the whistle blew MAYBE a fraction of a second before the puck went in the net. The whistle had no affect on the goalie's reaction.

  • Canadiens touch the puck, ref blows the whistle just as the puck is shot, and before the puck is in the net, no goal. Seems pretty simple.

  • number 51 swiped it away in front of the net just before the goal. He didnt care where it went because he knew there was a penality. They didnt wistle because of number 26 behind the net.

  • senators complaining about reffing.. hahaah

that girl clouston and murray cry to the media about why they don't get enough powerplays.

and surprise surpirse, they get away with murder and no penalties are called.

maybe all coaches should cry into the shoulders of the media..

  • todays refs use the whole stupid "intened to blow the whistle 5 seconds ago" crap. There have now been countless good goals called back because of crap like that, or they simply loose sight of the puck and call a good goal back. that's todays game....

  • Bad call..

    And nice dive from Ruutu.

  • It's the perfect call

The player canadian touched the puck, regardless of where the whistle went.

  • Just keep looking at his stick,he shoots before the whistle and the puck went in before the whistle!

  • all the people that say this is a goal are retarted!! u can hear this whistle right when he shot it

  • @joep125 it's not a question of whether or not he blew his whistle asshole. It's WHY he blew his whistle. He claimed that the Montreal player had possession of the puck and that's why he blew the play dead. But he didn't have possession so there was no reason to blow the whistle. Should have been a goal.

  • non Brunet cest pas assez longtemps pour que le ref siffle. Commence par connaitre ton hockey avant de commenter des fkin matchs de la NHL!

  • goal u stupid ref

  • This still sticks in my craw. Such a terrible call.

  • Benoit Brunet est le plus idiot des idiots. "T'as juste besoin de toucher à la rondelle". FAUX. Faut être en CONTROLE.

    That's a goal.

  • I feel so bad for Hartsburg, he's such a great coach but was just put in a brutal situation...feel bad for the guy.

  • comming from neither a senator or montreal fan, i'd have to give credit to the sens. i can see why the ref blew the whistle, but im sure he'd take it back in a heartbeat.

the sens goal should've counted only because the montreal player never had control of the puck, he just tipped it.

    sens should've scored

    ranger fan out ;)

  • quebon 2 i totaly agree with u and the thing THAT RLLY PISSED ME THE FUCK OFF IS IF THAT COUNTED WE WOULD OF WON THE GAME AND NEVER WOULD OF WENT TO THE SHOOTOUT

  • That is still the biggest bullshit call I've seen this season. Of course the RDS guys agreed with it, being the biggest Habs homers, but the MTL player never had possession of the puck. It merely deflected off of his stick for a fraction of the time it usually takes to call the penalty.

  • I dont know if they review penalties but toronto should fucking get on it! That was a cheap call and an even cheaper take away of the goal! I'd be pissed!

  • @quebon2 agreed, posession is needed

  • The NHL rules states that you dont need to be in CONTROL of the puck to call the penalty, you gotta touch it only.

Alexei Kovalev got a penalty for tripping, Listen a 00:11, you hear the ref calling the penalty because a habs player touched the puck BEFORE he scored the goal. Hab player touched the puck around 1:10. Hard to see in the replay tho, bad angle. So it calls the penalty and everything that happens after is cancelled. The goal too.

  • that's completely not the rule....

but as a bruins fan who hates the canadiens (obviously) that looked like the correct call...whoever was the d-man in front swept the puck out of the net mouth with his stick which would typically qualify as "possession"...you have to actually make a play with the puck to get the whistle...more than just touch it.

  • All refs call it differently. Some call the play dead when there is full possession, others call the play dead as soon as the opposition touches the puck. The rule needs to be much more streamlined.

  • yeah maybe, but usually gathering and shooting the puck would be considered possession even though you didn't hold onto it...possession is either gathering and carrying the puck or making a legitimate, purposeful play with it. i thought the D-men in front made a purposeful play with the puck and although it failed, for a brief time he did have possession.

  • Fucking commentators are so biased.

  • I don't get it.

If it was a penalty on the Habs, why was the goal disallowed?

No Habs player touched the puck between the penalty and the goal.

  • i totally agree, if the habs player did have possesion why wasnt the whistle blown ? it should of been a goal, even if it wasnt there should have a been a whistle. oh well, sens will get revenage tonight ! go sens go :)

  • Comment removed

  • the whistle is blown at 0:11. Before the goal.

  • Get me a copy in English and then maybe I will. It's pretty obvious what's going on.

  • @wtzacs learn french then u stupid fuck

  • STFU Brunet.

Im a Habs fan and thats a goal.

  • What a terrible call. Cost us the game.

  • Fucking robbed. That game still pisses me off to think about.

  • well eat it !

  • he never had control of the puck that is why Volchankov scored you dumb ref!!!! How much did Montreal pay the Refs????

  • thats a goal...

  • Thanks ref!!!!

    Go sensGo

  • The Sens were robbed. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. Disgraceful call.

  • That's was bullshit.
