can this be added to a project after u all ready recorded some drums in maschine or will u have had to have set this up first i ask cause im new to logic to i made my first beat last night in logic using maschine as a vst or plug in or wat ever when i recorded the drums they didn't show up in logic the just played in the maschine plug in so basically wat im trying to asking is can this method be used after u all ready have recorded all ur drums

It does register when I have it set to group E but what about when I want to chop up a sample and record it in logic? It doesn't seem to be registering when I assign chopped samples over the pads. How do I solve this?
This is great!! I've gotten into maschine, after coming from the mpc and I love the workflow, just for a change. It's very different being to access everything at once, but I really love the mpc swing. Fortunately, someone recorded the mpc 3000 swing templates for logic, which i was using for awhile. This tutorial allows me to setup my maschine with logic and be able to use those swing settings. Thanks Altruwest. your always great, sharing knowledge.

Dang, this is a way good tutorial and is exactly what I've been looking for. I don't have a drum pad though. Just my M Audio USB keyboard that I use for all other plugins. I want to be able to lay Maschine drums with this keyboard into Logic. What do I need to do differently!? Thanks for your help.
Thanks for this man..really diggin it. But why when I set it up like this..when I hit the pads, my sound is not as stronge as when I take it out of Midi Controller mode and use as is. I have my fix velocity on when I switch between the two.
Thank you for the tutorial....but Maschine never fails to frustrate me at times when it shouldn't. For example, I've done everything you've instructed in the video. But then when I close my project and go back to it later, the Maschine stops working and won't play the sounds I was able to before. Can you please shed some light into this? Thanks.

Hi Altruwest, firstly just want to say thanks for taking the time to upload this video! i am having a little problem though, when I open the mixer instance in Environment and try to route the multi-instrument (maschine) to the mixer channel of Maschine for some reason Logic Pro shuts down immediately. I've tried restarting my Mac and I have also tried this many times (15+). Any suggestions?
OK so I'm with you, really good tutorial, but as soon as I turn Maschine into MIDI Mode by shift + control, I cannot hear the sounds on the pads, why? how do I correct this? Also, is it possible to use the swing on the maschine etc instead of Logics?

After following all instructions carefully, logic will record the midi notes OF MASCHINE but frm my mpk49 instead. I try to record from the pads but nothing tracks out. Any suggestions?

I am just wondering if this would be possible by just slaving Maschine instead of using it as a VST? i want to open Komplete 8 inside Maschine and that would just eat my all my ram

@purpleandbianco Hey Fam, Maschine can Slave to Logic, but its not an ideal way to work because the sync is much tighter when using Maschine as a VST. Midi is a pretty dated protocol in general and I would only go that route if you are using hardware in conjunction. In order to use Midi Sync with Maschine you just need to send Midi Beat Clock from Logic to Maschine via the Virtual Midi port. Thanks for supporting the movement and the music

at 5:43, When i do the batch set up of my 3 groups to 3 differents midi channels, it's all the stay in the last channel i set up, so at the end all my 3 groups stay with the same midi channel, is it a bug or something ?
So i assume that's why the rest of the tutorial is not working with me.
Logic doesnt let me record a midi comp into my external midi track.
I have a question though: how did you route the audio from Maschine? At the start of the video, there is Maschine as Input in the I/O panel but I don't know how to do that.

I have downloaded the template but I have a problem when trying to use the massive template inside maschine. it produces no sound and thats the case with all other templates except for the GM Drums template and it doesn’t cover the whole range of the instrument i.e: the banks available are from A to D only. how can I fix this problem and use a bigger range, same as the Massive template?
@Altruwest Thanks for the reply but still when I use the massive template in midi control mode on group E I can't get any sound. I think there might be a bug or something because when I hit the pads on maschine the Logic window disappears and I can see my desktop..this happens in the second I hit the pad and then I get the normal window view in Logic again. got past that problem, but when i record, still no midi appears in logic. I made sure in maschine it is set to 'sounds to midi notes'. Not sure why its not recording the midi. Appreciate the help
When i play the pads logic is picking up the audio. But when you record, hit the pads, logic just kinda jumps and nothing gets recorded. Much appreciated if you could help

@BitchImMikeLoooowry check and make sure the link did not go to your Spam filter. Some people have experienced that the template email goes straight into the Trash/Spam Folder. Let me know if you don't find it.
The method you describe works a 100%! Thnx, but i only have an amazing delay/latency when i hit the pads the sound plays after 2 seconds. The I/O buffer size is set to 32 and i don't have any latency with other AU's, i have an i7 processor. How come?

Thanks F Major for an awesome video! This has been a major breakthrough for me as the one aspect of Maschine that I do not like is the lack of quantizing options. Using your method i can now quantize parts from within Logic using MPC swing templates. Nice!

The Sounds to midi notes part is giving me trouble. When i assign a Group to a channel. It erases the previous Groups channel and assigns it to the one i just changed. For example. Group A changes to Midi CHannel 2 when i try to change Group B to Channel 2. Is there a template that i could download that would eliminate a few more steps. Is the template available for download suppose to be ready to go or are there a few more things to setup.
Thanks man. I watched this like 12 times till I got it right. The only thing I missed was selecting group E in control mode. I got it now. Great stuff man. It would be even bad if I was able to use the maschine transport options to control play stop and so forth.

when i am in midi mode.... and i choose massive template etc... the little midi light flashes in logic but i get no sound.... got as far as 8:39 in the video lol who knows wha gwan?
Ok guys logic does crash when trying to connect the midi instrument environment to the mixer environment in version 9.0 but does not with the 9.1.3 update. So I would suggest updating to the latest version and I'm also running in 64 bit mode but not sure if that makes a difference or not. Hope this helps.

When I add the new midi channel, for some reason the next group does not play. It's the same kit as group A... Should I save after changing the sound midi batch set up? The only suggestion I can make for those experiencing a crash in logic is to download the free template from my website and import the settings from that file. Seems though whatever version of logic some of you are using has a bug.
I was following all your steps, and every time I try to use the 2 environments to link the Multi Instrument to the Mixer; I drag the cursor to the Mixer and then my Logic crashes...

First, thank you for the video and template. When I loaded some instruments in Maschine, I could only get one note to play. Should I be able to play instruments rather than just drum kits? Let me know if you get the chance. The template solves the problem mentioned above about the crash problems.
@devinecarter instruments is a bit of a different setup, when setting up a Group with instruments, you need to use the Maschine Midi Setup to Assign Sounds to Midi channels so that each instrument can have a separate midi channel. What I have shown applies to drum kits and one shot samples in maschine.
@Altruwest, thanks again, would you mind going a little deeper here. I tried to set it up, but no luck. Feel like this set up could be all I need for Logic and Maschine if I can get the instruments working. Thanks for all your help.
@hiphopblues Figured it out. If you want an instrument/sound to play in logic, first restore defaults in sound midi batch set up, then enable sound midi settings on your sound/ instrument. Works like a charm. Thanks for the help everyone.

@xmicxs Instead of Assigning "Sounds to Midi Notes" you would need to assign "Sounds to Midi Channel" and assign the sound to an unused midi channel.

Dang, this is a way good tutorial and is exactly what I've been looking for. I don't have a drum pad though. Just my M Audio USB keyboard that I use for all other plugins. I want to be able to lay Maschine drums with this keyboard into Logic. What do I need to do differently!? Thanks for your help.

Thanks for this man..really diggin it. But why when I set it up like this..when I hit the pads, my sound is not as stronge as when I take it out of Midi Controller mode and use as is. I have my fix velocity on when I switch between the two.

Thank you for the tutorial....but Maschine never fails to frustrate me at times when it shouldn't. For example, I've done everything you've instructed in the video. But then when I close my project and go back to it later, the Maschine stops working and won't play the sounds I was able to before. Can you please shed some light into this? Thanks.

Hi Altruwest, firstly just want to say thanks for taking the time to upload this video! i am having a little problem though, when I open the mixer instance in Environment and try to route the multi-instrument (maschine) to the mixer channel of Maschine for some reason Logic Pro shuts down immediately. I've tried restarting my Mac and I have also tried this many times (15+). Any suggestions?

OK so I'm with you, really good tutorial, but as soon as I turn Maschine into MIDI Mode by shift + control, I cannot hear the sounds on the pads, why? how do I correct this? Also, is it possible to use the swing on the maschine etc instead of Logics?

@sk1tzan switch the Massive Control Template and choose group E, which is where C3 starts on the template. Any notes lower than C3 will not trigger sounds.

Hey F-Major! I wanted to figure this out for so long and i didn't know you had already covered this setup where you put each group on a track. I am just wondering if this would be possible by just slaving Maschine instead of using it as a VST? i want to open Komplete 8 inside Maschine and that would just eat my all my ram

@purpleandbianco Hey Fam, Maschine can Slave to Logic, but its not an ideal way to work because the sync is much tighter when using Maschine as a VST. Midi is a pretty dated protocol in general and I would only go that route if you are using hardware in conjunction. In order to use Midi Sync with Maschine you just need to send Midi Beat Clock from Logic to Maschine via the Virtual Midi port. Thanks for supporting the movement and the music

at 5:43, When i do the batch set up of my 3 groups to 3 differents midi channels, it's all the stay in the last channel i set up, so at the end all my 3 groups stay with the same midi channel, is it a bug or something ?
So i assume that's why the rest of the tutorial is not working with me.
Logic doesnt let me record a midi comp into my external midi track.

Thanks for this info. it’s really helpful. I have downloaded the template but I have a problem when trying to use the massive template inside maschine. it produces no sound and thats the case with all other templates except for the GM Drums template and it doesn’t cover the whole range of the instrument i.e: the banks available are from A to D only. how can I fix this problem and use a bigger range, same as the Massive template?

The method you describe works a 100%! Thnx, but i only have an amazing delay/latency when i hit the pads the sound plays after 2 seconds. The I/O buffer size is set to 32 and i don't have any latency with other AU's, i have an i7 processor. How come?

Thanks F Major for an awesome video! This has been a major breakthrough for me as the one aspect of Maschine that I do not like is the lack of quantizing options. Using your method i can now quantize parts from within Logic using MPC swing templates. Nice!
My question is using your method how do you then go about recording your drum part into audio? That would make a nice follow up vid. : )

The Sounds to midi notes part is giving me trouble. When i assign a Group to a channel. It erases the previous Groups channel and assigns it to the one i just changed. For example. Group A changes to Midi CHannel 2 when i try to change Group B to Channel 2. Is there a template that i could download that would eliminate a few more steps. Is the template available for download suppose to be ready to go or are there a few more things to setup.

Thanks man. I watched this like 12 times till I got it right. The only thing I missed was selecting group E in control mode. I got it now. Great stuff man. It would be even bad if I was able to use the maschine transport options to control play stop and so forth.

Man thank you SO SO much for this video. I cannot tell you how much this helped me. Until this I thought it was impossible to sequence MIDI through Maschine in Logic. I was using the drag and drop audio thing, which was extremely limiting. This opens up so many new things, and I really appreciate it. I would've been lost without this extremely helpful video. Ok guys logic does crash when trying to connect the midi instrument environment to the mixer environment in version 9.0 but does not with the 9.1.3 update. So I would suggest updating to the latest version and I'm also running in 64 bit mode but not sure if that makes a difference or not. Hope this helps.

When I add the new midi channel, for some reason the next group does not play. It's the same kit as group A... Should I save after changing the sound midi batch set up? Also does anyone know how to apply pad mode "fixed Velocity" once in midi mode for maschine? I could barely hear my kick. Thank you F Major that video really helped.

The only suggestion I can make for those experiencing a crash in logic is to download the free template from my website and import the settings from that file. Seems though whatever version of logic some of you are using has a bug.

First, thank you for the video and template. When I loaded some instruments in Maschine, I could only get one note to play. Should I be able to play instruments rather than just drum kits? Let me know if you get the chance. The template solves the problem mentioned above about the crash problems.

@devinecarter instruments is a bit of a different setup, when setting up a Group with instruments, you need to use the Maschine Midi Setup to Assign Sounds to Midi channels so that each instrument can have a separate midi channel. What I have shown applies to drum kits and one shot samples in maschine.

@hiphopblues Figured it out. If you want an instrument/sound to play in logic, first restore defaults in sound midi batch set up, then enable sound midi settings on your sound/ instrument. Works like a charm. Thanks for the help everyone.
