  • it was over 10 years ago and i still get excited for that 3 count

  • One of the best moments in WCW history....WCW at that point was as good as WWF if not better at sometimes

  • WCW was the shit before that russo took over and ran it to the ground

  • Holy shit .. never seen such crowd reaction in years

  • fuck... I love Hulk Hogan

  • Honestly, probably one of the best moments in that company's history.

  • who were the commentators for this match?

  • why did they throw trash in the ring when everyone was cheering?

  • @latex0r Some people got carried away, some are prone to vandalism, some people just don't have common sense or respect, etc.

  • I think Goldberg was overpushed up, at that time on Wcw. Who was writting all these feuds and matches? They wanted to create a "super" wrestler, a face that would bring the company to the top, so they used him for that. It was understandable (Wwf had done just that with Hogan, years prior) but it made many talented wrestlers go unoticed, as a result.

  • 1:32?? RKO

  • back when you could throw trash in the ring lol I miss wrestling back then its so stale now

  • Yeah Goldberg already had the US championship, he won it off of Raven earlier that year.

  • Comment removed

  • btw of course hogan is jealous of goldberg. to this day he constantly downplays goldbergs impact on keeping wcw in the ratings hunt after wwf overtook wcw again. he even had the nerve to say he was never over with the crowd. hogan is a cunt that wants the spotlight to himself and downplays anyones importance to something he is involved in if it means the spotlight is removed from him

  • wcw were dominating the ratings but went into a slump just before this match where they only won a couple of weeks against wwfs usual wins. they were so concerned about getting a ratings win they underestimated the amount of fan fare this match would of gotten as a PPV

if this was done as a PPV it would of been the biggest and most hyped up match of all time, bigger than hogan x andre, bigger than hogan x rock

  • WCW were so dumb..why have this match on a monday nite? just so they could beat wwe in ratings!!??, should of kept this match up for pay per view. spose its all history now!

  • toilet paper? 1:56 lol

  • Why did they throw that stuff when there was the ring was already filled with garbage?

  • Now that a fucking POP

  • Comment removed

  • that crowd reaction was amazing. no wrestlers today ever get that sort of cheer

  • wow wrestling was much better when i used to think it was really real! this match meant somuch to me. but then soon i found out wrestling fake. smhh

  • fake and gay

  • this shit is soo fake..

  • why is he holding 2 titles?

  • @TheMac314 Goldberg was already U.S. champ going into this match

  • @TheMac314 He had the US title at the time as well

  • This was a time when WCW was top dog. I miss those days.

  • DAMN I MISS wCw!!!

  • This is like giving Rock vs Cena away for free.

Such a stupid idea. If that was the Starrcade main event, it would've made them more money than Nash/Greenberg.

  • ITS NOT REAL COMPITETION, HOGAN CANNOT LOSE LIKE THIS ,,,,

  • @balapaji and yet he did......

  • Damn, that crowd lost their damn minds when Goldberg won! Awesome!

  • do it do it finish him off lol

  • crowds just arent's the same anymore :( fucking kids have to ruin everything with their john cena bulshit

  • @prinzeV Watch TNA... it is better then WWE right now.We got Sting,Kurt Angle,Hulk Hogan......more legends then WWE.The WWE divas is better then the TNA knockouts though.

  • @prinzeV I hear you, man. That's the thing though, we HAVE to like John Cena and the current product or else we're just "smarks that won't let go of the past" to these stupid PG supporters.

  • wcw was way better than the wwf

  • I was there

  • @stealthblack6

ur lucky, this is one of the events i wish i went to along with austin beating up wcw and ecw, also i wish i went to rock vs austin in 2001 at wrestlemania.

  • They should have played this out more with Goldberg. They announced this match 3 days before on thunder. Thats so stupid to not draw out and hype up one of the best matches of all time. Hogan vs, Goldberg. Imagine if it was a PPV.

  • @27snork

yea show've done this at starrcade

  • @27snork that's what made it so great. U never knew wat u were gonna see. Everything was a surprise

  • @27snork Hogan vs Goldberg could have been WCW's equivalent to Hogan vs Andre, Goldberg was their biggest hit at the time and Hogan will always be a household name and at this time still put asses in seats, this match could have drawn HUGE if it were built up for a one on one Pay per view encounter over the course of a few months. Just another mistake by WCW's booking, so much potential from that company in hindsight but they ran that place with nonsensical booking

  • @27snork Biggest matches* Also Goldberg no sold 3 hogan leg drops in a row lmao.

  • @27snork I think that kind of booking was right because Nitro always felt like it was unpredictable and anything could happen. You never knew who would show up in a limo for instance. It was one of the things that made Nitro special.

  • @27snork And then, just a few months later, he jobbed to a cattle prod. One of the many, many, many reasons WCW doesn't exist anymore.

  • wow..can't believe those crowds just throw garbage into the ring

  • @adriantokiya : The crowd should do that every time those nasty criminal immigrants, known as mysterio, del rio and the sin cara beaners, enter the ring. Imagine that- the crowd throwing garbage AT garbage.

  • Loudest pop I have ever heard

  • Was this the whole match?

  • They threw garbage in the ring when Big Show won the ECW title in 2006, I also think that was the last time it happened in WWE, that garbage throw came ironically after TNA did a screwjob and had the entire ring filled with beer cups and water bottles

  • That ring is just too small for those big guys in there.

  • I guarantee that had Hogan used the creative control clause in his contract and kicked out of the jackhammer the fans would've went wild and started to cheer him. Hogan believed in Goldberg as the guy that could lead the wrestling business into the future. WCW and WWE dropped the ball, not Hogan.

  • @donn409

Rofl no. No selling the jackhammer would kill Goldberg. Hogan no sold the Vader bomb and it killed Vader. You do know Hulk only agreed to lose if he got to end the streak which ultimately led to the nash-goldberg tazer fiasco and then to the fingerpoke of doom? Yes, Hogan felt he was the one who should end the streak and not some young up and comer who would benefit from being the guy to end the streak.

  • @EdwardCletusKasidy Actually, it was Kevin Nash that ended Goldberg's streak. It should've been Hogan though.

  • @EdwardCletusKasidy i'm pretty sure the finger poke of doom was a year later

  • @yiassoufile It was one of the most anticipated matchups of that year but looking back on it,If Eric Bishoff was smart he would have saved that match for Starrcade

  • @KHayes666 Yea I know about his creative control contract but Didnt know how much control he really had.Watching from the outside you can see with all the patterns of DQ s every week with his Title defenses it was pretty obviouse so do agree with his point. My debate was how do you know how much power he had when your not inside the buisness that was all.Personally I would have ditched Hogan after 1998.He was starting to loose momentum anyway at that point.

  • only person who can beat him is undertaker

  • @jedq Undertaker already beat Hulk Hogan.

  • im on about goldberg cz undertaker loose to some person called brook lenser but goldberg did not i think goldberg vs undertaker wm need to happen

  • @jedq Goldberg is too strong for Undertaker.

  • the guy that hit the diamond cutter on Curt Henning was Karl Malone

  • Man you'd never see an after match pop like that nowadays

  • the black dude did an RKO

  • whoose the guy that stunned kurt henning

  • karl malone

  • @AcidProductions6 karl malone

  • goldberg 4 hall of fame

  • @ILostMyBonnie where did you get that info from mate?Ive never heard of that happening before..I thought it was based on Bischoff trying to get a ratings win during the Monday Night wars.Fuck Hogan if I was Bischoff I would have told him we are doing this at a PPV.At the end of the day Hogan is an employee of the WCW.They gave that man too much power if that was the case.

  • @Pulpedtoafiction31 He's right....Hogan had complete creative control in his contract and would veto any clean loss if put in front of him. Why do you think all the times he ever lost the title were due to outside interference?

  • WCW did a silly thing not advertising then delivering this on a ppv. They threw a MASSIVE PPV event away on a Monday Night show for ratings!!Stupid asses. But what a night it was, lol. At a time when the BIG MATCH FEEL meant something. And thats how you sell any PPV real or not.ECW WWE AND WCW were good at that at one time.

  • @Pulpedtoafiction31

They did it because Hogan refused to take a legitimate PPV loss and put Goldberg over.

  • I still get chills and i watched it live that night on TV. That was the pinnacle of WCW.

  • Bobby The Brain. The best sample of wrestling cometary I have ever heard :) What a legend.

  • DO IT FINISH IT !!!!!!!!

  • *crowd chants* CRIM-SON! CRIM-SON! CRIM-SON!

  • MAN that crowd was AMAZING. And I don't even mean the throwing stuff. But starting with the spear, they just go FREAKIN INSANE! Just LOOK at that section of the audience behind the ring during the 3 count. Holy Crap!

  • goldberg & eric r bffs irl...it prolly was/is just a coupla pals hangin' in nyc 4 a lil "guy-love" (2 take a page from scrubs)...

  • Does anyone find it unfair that people bled, sweat, and worked their asses to the bone...a lot of them to their death...to make it to the top of this business. Pretty much everyone from Hogan, the Rock, Steve Austin, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels...the list goes on. And Goldberg didn't have to do any of that just because WCW needed someone to go against the NWO. Goldberg is just a run of the mill 6'5" guy in black tights... He was just in the right place at the right time.

  • Goldberg had the look, the personality and the ring presence which won him over with the fans. Everything he needed to do to get to the top he did, and in record time. Because others had to slog harder or wait longer (or kiss more ass) to reach the top doesn't diminish what he acheived, and by the reaction of the fans, was wholly deserved. There are wrestlers I'd loved to have seen given a bigger push, but there are myriad reasons it never happened. Let's not begrudge the man his success.

  • @Dreamewalker It's amazing what the right look and presence and personality will do for a green nub eh? It's one thing to give a guy that is the most over in the business the world title, it's another to let them book matches and give them creative control. One doesn't matter, the others do not.

Goldberg was not run of the mill, he was the right guy, something Nash, Sting and so many others were not. They had to fight their asses off to do what came naturally to Bill, that's nothing to scoff at

  • Hogan would probably call conceding this "passing the torch". He seemed to say that after putting anyone over in a big match.

  • I miss the crowd throwing garbage into the ring.

  • @Fishlips5000 i just miss that crowd period

  • @Fishlips5000 At that time there was still some competition in this beautiful game. But, Alas! Now its no more a sport; its just predetermind entertainment. Making people like Ray Mysterio and Eddy Gurero as World Heavy Weight Champions who even do not fall in categary of Heavy Weights... :(

  • who's the black orton?

  • is goldberg Jewish is that true ?

    or his a Christian ?

  • @omar300342

    he's jewish

  • biggest crowd eruption ever. history. good old times.

  • everbody loves goldberg

  • Goldberg was devasting. I don't remember what his streak reached but I think it was into the 90's atleast.

  • @TurnToJesus1 If I recall correctly, it's 174-0.

  • After all these years I just got a chill from watching this.....happens every time

  • And on that Night....at the age of 12 I broke my mothers t.v. with excitement. The unknown story...on that Monday night, there was two spears. One from Goldberg to Hogan, and one from my Mother to Me!!!! Thank You Goldberg....you became my hero, at the cost of a 2 week punishment, and a ass-whooping.

FYI....I'm not lying....that night I did get my ass whoop by my Mother 0_o

  • @ShenSaiya you speared your mom? LOL

  • @DarkSaber22 LOL...NOOOOO!!!! XD She speared me!!!!!!!! When he defeated Hogan, I go excited, and kicked in the T.V.! She came into the room, saw what I did, and chased me! She speared me to the ground, and whipped my ass!!!! That was a funny night, now that I look back at it! I was 12!!!!

  • I remember when this was when WCW was still PG

HOGAN:IM GOING TO KICK GOLDBERGS (pause) BUTT

I guess thats why the attitude era was a sucess and started killing the monday night ratings. in WCW you had wrestling and NWO storyline; WWF you had swearing, brief nudity, violence portrayal, Vince Mcmahon getting involved unlike Ted Turner, Obscene gestures, alcohol, Paranormality, and also Wrestling.

  • @nflannery59 You seem to be the only one that realizes this, everyone else is too young or has revisionist history claiming stong cold and rock. They contributed, but all that trash wwf did was like jerry springer tv, thats how they really won. Just real talk, WCW made mistakes. The things WWF did then were shock tv no longer shocks this generation though

  • Goldberg! Goldberg! Goldberg!

  • Holy shit, WCW fans would throw everything into the ring. hahaha

  • @PhazonElitist Yeah, that was a fairly common occurance with two possible reasons. A: Something happened that was epically shocking. (Bash '96). B: Something happened that was so shitty it pissed everybody off. (Fingerpoke of Doom).

  • goldberg should be called superjew

  • Biggest in-match pop I've ever heard.

  • I Was there that night... i couldn't hear for 2 hours after i left.

  • @korfx04 sure u were dream on u jackass

  • @crangel8623 i really don't have to prove anything to you dip shit, But i swear on my life u troll, i may been up in the nose bleed section, but i was there!!!.. pssst i got the 5 tickets from scott steiner because he came into the store just about every week where my grandma worked to get a blimpie sandwich and i was there one day and he gave me his autograph and told me he would bring me tickets.. 2 days later i had 5 tickets in hand from scott steiner...

  • those wrestling moments u will never forget!!

  • hogan was in better shape here than at his peak in the 80's, I dont understand that for some reason : /

  • Kind of weird. Not saying he is or isn't coming to Impact Wrestling, but Goldberg was with Eric Bischoff today and posted a video of it on his twitter account. Kinda ironic since they just brought up the whole who's next thing on hogans car few weeks ago on the show.

  • 2:12 -> 2,20 the crowd is so amazing ,WCW remember me to great Times =)

  • fail @ wcw having this on a regular ol episode of nitro and not booking this on a pay per view just to win another week of raw vs nitro.

this match alone could have sold out the biggest venue wcw could afforded to use and would have drown a LOT of payperview revenue.

  • Goldberg Hogan was one of the best bookings in history.

Hogan/NWO win the title and run wild over the whole roster. At the same time Goldberg shows up and never interacts with them in the slightest. Goldberg wins and gets a streak of 100-0 and wins the US championship. NWO start to take notice. Then it all comes down to Goldberg Hogan for the title and 150-0 in Golbergs home town.

Only bad thing was, it should have been PPV. And there wasn't really that much for goldberg to do after.

  • @justin26UK true, I couldn't believe this shit was on Monday Nite, I waslike noway.... Glad it was though, I remember everyone talkin bout that shit at school the next day lol....

  • WCW would still be in business if AOL/Time warner got revenue with this being a pay per view. It wasnt and they didnt. So the executives saw this as wasted build up and a blown opportunity to make money.

  • this was the peak of WCW

  • GREATEST WRESTLERS EVER: 1.Ric Flair 2.UNDERTAKER 3.Hulk Hogan

    4.GOLDBERG 5.Triple H 6.STING 7.Steve Austin 8.MANKIND 9.Harley Race

10.Bret Hart ALSO: Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Andre "The Giant", Randy Savage,

Nick Bockwinkel, Randy Orton, KANE, King Kong Bundy, BATISTA, Nikita Koloff,

THE ROCK, Samoa Joe, Brock Lesnar, JBL, John Cena, Big Show, Kurt Angle,

Jeff Hardy, BOBBY LASHLEY, Kevin Nash, ULTIMATE WARRIOR, Rey Mysterio, HBK, DDP

    #1 TAG-TEAM: THE ROAD WARRIORS

    HOTTEST: Stacy Keibler

  • I always loved Goldbergs little taunt before he picks up Hogan for the Jackhammer. Legend

  • This will always be my favorite match from WCW (though not my favorite moment...that would be Ric Flair's return to WCW on September 14, 1998)

  • You think 27 was the worst mania?? Have you seen all 27? Just watch 2, 9 or 11.

  • ChadTheWrestleManiac @Rainman4051 yeah man! big pop at the end! and i paid 60 dollars on ppv for the worst wrestlemania yet wm27 was awful Apr 6, 2011

  • good memories

  • for a wrestlemania like wm27 it was a cock up from start 2 finish the rocks theme music came on at the start and the crowd reacted like yoshi tatsu was walking down the ramp so dead the miz vs cena main event? r u kidding? taker vs hhh havent wrestled for bout 9 months it was slow bcos both were unfit so it made for a poor match they shoulda had a few warm up matches b4 that. michael cole vs lawler to slow and boring. del rio vs edge first match som1 tell me y? all 2gether bullshit!

  • @fuckcenaloverock so true it was a waste it was pretty much like a regular raw show

  • my god, the crowd is amazing. Thats a REAL crowd, WWE

  • never liked hogan he was a tool

  • 2:08-2:11 epic

  • Comment removed

  • Heenan's commentary is Godly

  • haha shit was that karl malone?

  • @carloyu27 yeah...teaming w/ ddp. the big thing was wcw was starpower which is why they had a hogan/rodman vs. ddp/malone match

  • People like to say Goldberg was a one trick pony and that Hogan and Nash deserved to be champion over him in 1999 (though not by fingerpoke).

Well the TV ratings spoke for themselves....WCW was out of business just over 2 years after taking the title off Goldberg.

  • @KHayes666 Yup.Their is a reason he is one of my fav wrestlers of all time with only his 6 or so years in the business. In my opinion,Goldberg played off his "character" better than anyone else I have ever seen, which drew ratings/fans and thats proven. He was a "cyborg".Few devastating moves to end the matches quickly. He was built and had strength like a tank, but agile like a 170lber.Backflips,etc.I would pay money right now to see him wrestle again even if he is smaller and older.

  • @KHayes666 im not a huge bill goldberg fan but taking the title off of him at starccade that year was the dumbest mistake wcw made in a long line of dumb mistakes.

  • @jadams019 Actually their dumbest mistake was KEEPING the title off him. Even though the fingerpoke marked the beginning of the end, they could have salvaged the ship had they had Goldberg pretty much duplicate his "streak" ending with him pinning both Nash and Hogan at Spring Stampede or whatever to regain the title.......but since only those named Bischoff, Nash or Hogan called the shots it wasn't going to happen.

  • @KHayes666 Totally agree, but when figured out they should put the belt on someone other than hogan, it was too late. You see in late 1999 to the end the new champions. Some that should not have been like DDP or Jarrett. At this time, they had Sting, Nash (he should have been champ earlier), Bret Hart, Goldberg, Luger, Hall. All champion material.

  • @hbk92701 Russo wanted someone new too. Only problem was Hogan had COMPLETE creative control in his contract which means he would always be in the main events and always would be champion whenever he wanted. By the time Bischoff was out and Russo was in, it didn't matter if he wanted Lash Leroux champion because Hogan and Nash (booker) wouldnt allow it. When Russo did his famous rant on Hogan at Bash at the Beach, Hogan actually sued Russo for his remarks.

  • @KHayes666 wcw went of business because aol said it looked bad on there image

  • @sonicthekid249 No, WCW went out of business because it lost 91 million dollars in 2000 and Vice President of Turner Broadcasting Jamie Kellner cancelled Nitro and Thunder due to the lousy ratings. If WCW was posting the ratings success it was in 98, AOL would have had no problem with it.

  • @KHayes666 so then the reason john cena is always champion is that hes a one trick poney and due to tv ratings ???

  • @SaintsRow2OwnsGTA4 What TV ratings? I don't see WWE selling out a 40 thousand seat arena anytime soon.

  • @KHayes666 I dont like wwe but as a fan of pro wrestling in generall and only thing on tell thurs.. I do watch it.. hell most people at wwe venus cant even say the what chants correctly any more... and sure stone cold made a couple of apperences but he is not an active wrestler.they need a new chant.. instead of what.

  • @KHayes666 It might have lasted another year had this been a PPV match

  • @KHayes666 I guess those are the same people who have been watching Impact for the past couple of years now still stick in 1999.

  • What makes this is Bobby Heenan's commentary. He sounds like a fan marking out for Goldberg when he hits the spear/jackhammer combo, and it just makes it that much more epic.

  • @UIWWildthing i totally agree. Just like at this past Royal Rumble when Matt Stricker went nuts and moarked-out when Nash and Booker T came back. Love it

  • I REMEMBER THIS NIGHT I GOT IT ON TAPE. I COULDNT WAIT TILL NITRO CAME ON. ONE OF THE "BEST" MATCHES IVE EVER SEEN THE CROWD WAS "SO PUMPED UP" YOU DONT SEE THAT ANYMORE.

  • HOGAN DIDN'T HAVE A CHANCE AGINST GOLDBERG!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • was this in georgia dome

  • @ChadTheWrestleManiac Yes Goldberg vs Hogan was in the GA dome. I was there. They closed off half of the dome so it seated roughly 40k people. I was at Wrestlemania 27 in the dome with 72k people and it never even came close to the night Goldberg won. This was the greatest event (in my mind) in wrestling history.

  • @Rainman4051 yeah man! big pop at the end! and i paid 60 dollars on ppv for the worst wrestlemania yet wm27 was awful

  • This and when Austin beat HBK at WM14 with Tyson for the title are my personal all-time favorite moments in wrestling. thumbs up?

  • Curt Hennig, dead, Bam Bam Bigelow, dead, Miss Elizabeth, dead, British Bulldog, dead, Big Bossman, dead, Eddie Guerrero, dead, Earthquake and Yokozuna, dead, Chris Benoit, dead.... VERY strange sport, this one...

  • WWE should take notes on how WCW matches, wrestlers, and story lines are written during its golden era. Back during the days of WCW, you had memorable characters and story lines to match them. Rivalries were more well thought out and matches were more intese. Now, almost everything seems to be watered down. Look at the fans!! There wasn't a person sitting down!! Check out WWE nowadays....it has its moments but its nothing like how WCW was.

  • @mysterEize, ecactly! "it has its moments but its nothing like how WCW was" - I had my fun and felt entertained - the crap today is ridiculous.

  • 1 dislike on the video? Who was it, Hulk Hogan himself?

  • hogan never liked selling, goldberg picked his ass up like a child

  • @g00dguyforyou Your exactly right dude. You can usually tell when they bend their knees and jump. Hogan bent his knees and Goldberg manhandled him up

  • I WAS THERE.... lived in Georgia my whole life, grew up a wrestling fan as a kid, i'll never forget this!!! The crowd was unreal!!!

  • you sont get crowds like that anymore.

  • To think this could have been on PPV, but all Bischoff cared about was beating WWE in the ratings. If he hadn't been so concerned with trying to put WWE out of business, WCW might still be here today.

  • The crowd was awesome, almost to the point of rioting.............

  • THE CROWD WAS WILD!!!! THEY ALMOST RIOTED

  • You will never see such a reaction from a crowd at a wrestling match again. I remember watching this live and I was going out of my mind. WCW was the best.

  • @andrewt06 ....austin saving wwf from ecw/wcw when he arrived with a pool stick is the loudest ive ever heard a wrestling crowd...this is good but austin's was better...not taking anything away from this

  • @neverdenytheu What do your statements have anything to do with this video? This is about Goldberg...WcW at it's pinnacle. Austin took years for a crowd anywhere near this to cheer for him. Goldberg took less than a year.

  • @thefreak731 ...i was referring to the one comment stating that this was the loudest he ever heard a wrestling crowd...i was mentioning the Austin confrontation thats all...and Goldberg wasnt all he was made out to be either..the dude fought 75% scrubs on his way to compiling that "undefeated streak".....
