  • In my school Girls and Boys are in different choirs until 9th grade. the girls are singing this! I'm so excited!:)

  • I love this!! My choir is singing it and we are only in middle school but it would be soo cool for it to sound like this!!!

  • we are singing this song and i love it! although i though public schools were not supposed to promote religion.

  • singing this for my concert tomorrow. we plan on having our audience on their feet with people running down the isles! haha! its such a fun song, you better believe theres gonna be some SOUL when we sing it!

  • I'm singing this for my concert!

  • Oh my Geebus. I sang this in ninth grade chorus at my old school and had completely forgotten about it until earlier today when my friend asked my chorus teacher about it... I'm a senior now :P I forgot how much fun it was!

  • Great piano player

  • Why is it so fast. The speed is making it lose its soulful effect

  • Amazing job people in the choir :) loved it

  • My choir sang this song :D but our director MADE us sing this with soul. We'd stop the song and start again if we didnt. lol

  • It's the way the conductor had us sing the song. Each conductor can have it sung anyway he/she wants it to be portrayed. I personally didn't like the way we sang this (I was in this choir). Although our power and energy is pretty good I think

  • it seems like the choir is rushing to get through the song. Tempo seems a bit fast, which in my 15 years in both mixed choirs and mens choirs means that either the director is pushing the tempo because the choir can't keep it moving or that the choir is rushing the song and the director is having a heckuva time reining in the stronger singers to keep the tempo at its upbeat but controlled tempo

  • @Aslayn I totally disagree. This is a perfect tempo for this song.

  • Thanks for posting this! This is a real blessing!

  • i am singing this in honors choir !!! go wo

  • wow, I was there. I can't believe I found this. Thanx for posting. I miss PMEA. This song was fun hahaha

  • ahhh I miss PMEA :(

  • Sounds fabulous, District 5! I'm from district 6. Keep rockin, PMEA :)

  • gahhh I love this song!!! can't wait to sing it at ashland!

  • best one i have heard so far. i hope my choir can sing it this good.

  • simply beautiful

  • we did this at my church with like 9 people and it sounded just as amazing as this one. brings back memories

  • I just preformed this today. I love this song. Its so fun!

  • we sang this when we were in grade 5! (: it was superb!

  • W0W..

  • great song, good voices, missing the "black-gospel" flavour/swing

  • great singing, but it sounds choppy and unnatural

  • I love this song!! :) we sing it in choir

  • Our Honor Choir sang this when we were in HS. It was really fun, The Audience totally LOVED this song and got into the clapping. A really fun piece.

  • love

    it ^^

  • nice upload. we did this in PMEA district chorus in 1999. Keith Hampton was our conductor as well. It was awesome. If I can find the CD, I'll upload it.

  • I was there too! rock on. I am listening to the cd now :) that was a GREAT concert!

  • we sang this song for school am in choris so ya it an amost song

  • i did this song for my class and i love it!

  • i just finishing performing with the DCC!

  • Sounds like my 7th grade chior exactly like it when i was in chior lol

  • how can i get the lyric ??

    pls ps me

  • MDHS Chambers Choir can sing better than this verson. they have little soul, when they sing.

  • Its true, I sang it with them for a service, I go to Servite

  • cool!

    lol!

Im in the choir for MD, but I was sick so I couldnt sing in it,

but my friends were like, omg it was so awkward singing with Servite!

    :D

im like wow u guys r losersssss, u cnt put aside ur differences 4 like a few hours

  • most of the guys were pretty chill with us actually

  • thats what u think. rele they werent. but mr. melvin our choir director was like, u guys better b nice

  • Well that's cool too... I guess

It'd be a challenge to find a kid from Servite who wouldn't be down for a fight, even in the choir so I bet it's better you guys got a warning

  • yeah lots of our guys play sports so they have the instincts lol. its actually kinda funny

  • OMEA District XI just performed this. It was the most fun I've ever had at district. :D

  • The Scioto County All-County choir performed this, also. They did an amazing job. They got standing ovations and walked off stage clapping and singing. It was awesome.

  • Praise Him !

  • Whats PMEA?

  • pennsylvania music educator's association

  • why does every school sing this with no soul?! i hate the way you cut off "sing" and "Lord" at the beginning. sing like the black lady at a spiritual church. duh.

  • i totally agree. this song can be really fun if you work it. i recently had a solo for this in my choir :]

  • haha 3copa did way better with this...

and thats probley cuz we used it in comp. and where one of the top choirs in the state of florida

  • HA! This school still beats the pants off every other school that sang this song on youtube! (Though we still woulda smoked 'em. -_^)

  • This was too raucus and a little too fast to begin with in my opinion. I think that's just 1 reason that it didn't have much soul. The way they sang "lord" during "Holy Jesus, praise his name, O Hallelujah Praise his Holy Name!" Lord should have had more life and feeling. As for sing, I think that it could have been done both ways just more feeling!

  • I agree. It was so choppy and robotic. Really sad.

  • i was in this choir.... and that is the way the conductor wanted us to sing it.

It wasn't our fault that over 20 schools were there and only practiced twice before this was recorded. I thought we kicked ass on the sing

  • The director's vision for the song is always the driving force behind what comes out in a performance. I wasn't trying to attack the individual singers; so if I came off as harsh, you have my apologies! As for only practicing twice for the performance, in Georgia, all of the schools who are participating start in Oct. or Nov without the clinician, and the first week back from Christmas. The day before, we have the conductor work with us.

  • lol @ your comment.

  • @hanbonan Thats just how the music is writen haha

  • @hanbonan In the actual music, those words aren't written as half notes, but my choir focuses on a less dictated script

  • @hanbonan Just wait! I will upload a video of our All-County Choir doing it this weekend, we have our concert on Saturday...and our director is the esteemed Dr. Karen Kennedy for Towson University in Baltimore, Maryland. She has also taught in places such as the University of Hawaii. Look her up...she is AMAZING!

  • @tman8077 HURRY UP AND UPLOAD YOU TAKEN FOREVER AND A DAY

  • @DOCTOR562 I have to wait to get the video to come in, or the CD...whichever comes first!

  • @hanbonan I was JUST thinking that, then I saw your comment lol

  • well did you do any regional or district orchestra?

  • yep i didn't make states but next year i'm gonna focus

  • oh well i'm sorry to hear that... i don't know i typed if you were going to states down there...but pay it no mind.

  • i don't mean to be rude... but i LOVE when a bunch of white people sing gospel... i have to constantly tell people that anyone can sing gospel music... the driving force behind it is energy. and you guys had it. now i'm sure that there were about 2 or 3 black people there... we had a few in district 7 chorus... i'm one of them. nice to meet ya!

  • thank you! i sang this song in districts in

9th grade, and have to agree.

  • did you do districts this year... i'm going to states!

  • yeah i did districts and regions but i don't really practice i focus on orchestra

  • DUDE!!! I'm so glad that you put this tuff on Youtube.

    YAY!!!!!
