This group is awesome no matter who is in the group.......their music really ministers to whomever will listen with an "open" heart!! Thank you MAGGOSPELSHOWCASE for posting this video!! Thank you IMPERIALS for sharing your talents with the world!!
Phillips, Craig & Dean never recorded this song. This is an Imperials original off the Priority album, Russ Taff was the original lead singer on this song!
Why does the subject line say great p,c&d tune performed by a legendary group? Are you serious? lol
Last time I checked this is an Imperials original. Brings back so many awesome memories from my childhood like listening to the album and dancing around in my grandmas living room.
Hey guys, sounds like you all are a bit on the young side. Joe Mosheo IS with a group called the "Elvis Imperials" currently, but MANY years ago, like 40, Joe played piano for the Imperials. Armond was the bass, Terry Blackwood was lead, Terry Wiles was Baritone, and Jim Murray was tenor. The only guy who is an Original Original is Armond. He help start the group with Jake Hess in the mid 60's!
Mark Lowry is in The Gaither Vocal Band--NEVER this group. Lead is Rick Evans. Joe Moscheo has also NEVER been a part of this group--he is in a group of former Imperials called Elvis' Imperials.
@JohnHansard Gee John, you really need to get a life. You have been commenting on this Imerpials ISSUE for over a year!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't you think about anything else. Jeez!!!!!!
That is not Mike Lowery, it is Rick Evans. What kind of thing is that to say about someone? Could that ever be a compliment? Rick is a great guy, think before you type!
I was at the first concert that Paul Smith filled in. Russ Taff had just gone out for a solo career. My friends and I ended up onstage talking to Paul then praying with him. I was in awe of the stage itself, but my friends just boldly prayed for him. It was a special night.
Guau... nice sound... But it doesn´t sound like Russ... je je... Still moves me... I love when all the voices sing together, they reach the same powerful sound than years ago... God Bless You Guys
I recognize Armond M. and David Will. Who are the other two? Now if Armond and David could reunite with Jim Murray and Russ taff (or Paul Smith) that would be a dream come true!!
It would be a definite dream come true! I ran into Russ Taff at Philly International Airport earlier this year, which was a great blessing. I asked about the possibility of him joining The Classic Imperials. He simply said, "Ya never know". So, its nice to know he's open to the idea.
That is not Paul Smith, that is Rick Evans who used to sing with Dennis Agajanian (who once held the Guinness Record for fastest guitar playing). Paul Smith is the Worship Pastor at First Baptist Colleyville in Colleyville, Texas. At FB Colleyville he served under noted apologist Dr. Frank Harber when Harber was pastor there.
I checked it out. One site reported that Paul Smith did indeed step in for the departing Robbie Hiner. I checked the Classic Imperials (their official name) website and it says Robbie Hiner is still part of the group. Either Hiner took a break or their website is not up to date?
To all the Classic Imperial friends. We would like to thank the many who have written, for all the wonderful support. It is now time to move the group forward without the negative feedback. The best way to do that is for all to stop bogging about MOSH (the young guys).
The Classic Imperials are looking forward to continuing in the call God has set for the group. So, let's talk about the good things.
Life---I agree. It's so easy to get caught up in they said, they said--I am as guilty of it as anyone. Now it's time to pray for The Imperials and The Classic Imperials and support ALL of them in their Godly ministries.I suspect the future is going to be bright for both groups!!!
I have never seen anything like that on their website, but that does not mean it was not there. Whether they did or did not agree, they don't now becasue it all became too confusing to venues booking the groups. That's why the current Imperials should be the only one to use that name. To me, the biggest problem is Elvis chasing group actually using the name The Imperials. Think they are dealing with them too.
John, yes the 'Elvis guy' w/Imperials naem is Little Anthony. The Imperials were talking with Little Anthony on an agreement on both groups using the word, Imperials, when it stopped because of the Armond group issue. Now, The Imperials is hoping to resume talks with him on Little Anthony & The Imperials.
voyageministries-The case on the 'Classic Imperials' & The Imperials is settled, with some details remaining. They settled without going to court. The 'Classics Imperial' name is a detail. The court/judge said Armond's letter giving the new guys, The Imperials, the rights to the name is valid. Now, relationship mending, & some details is left. The old letter from the Imperials is on their site on a link & a new one forthcoming. Anyone can contact The Imperials on phone/email via website
interesting conversation. i'm only 40 but i was raised on this stuff. my dad had the original jake albums and i had the good pleasure of getting to know jake. i also saw many incarnations of the imps.
i didnt know about this lawsuit until reading this post but i'll tell you this: a couple years ago on "the imperials" website (the young guys) they talked about how armond sold the group to the young guys and how the older guys would still travel some using the name "the classic imperials."
yes it is Robbie great singer. Sad that the young guys will not let them use the imperial name, by the way the new group is not even close in talent to the real grammy winning groups.
Sad----they are NOT the Imperials! Two of them are FORMER Imperials. As for as talent is concerned, may I remind you that Armond himself thought their talent was of such caliber to turn the legacy of The Imperials over to them. His opinion was correct!
I disagree with you, The Imperials with Russ Taft, Arma Morales, Bill Murray, and Dave Wills, sang this song better. No one sang that song like those guys. Not even these ones. P,C, and D are good singers though. I like their new stuff.
I remember Russ Taff being with the group but not Russ Taft (when was he there and is he related to President Taft?). Arma Morales, is he/she related to the Imperials bass singer Armond Morales? You do get bonus points though for getting Dave Wills name right and for correcting your mistake with Jim Murray!
You have the right to your opinion and so do I. They are ALL very talented people this group as well as the young guys--- The Imperials. As to why I make comments, it simply is because I can and to try to show that ALL of these folks are talented people--these in this video and the current group of Imperials. My major point is that they ALL should get respect as major talents with Godly ministries. God is what all of this is about right? But, no one does this song like Russ--he's the best!
i do have the right to my opinion and so do everyone else and the new CONFIGURATION has nothing on the people that recorded this first. it doesn't matter what you say!
Pardon me, but these are NOT the original singers on THIS song, they are only two of them. Rick does a very good job, and the current members of The Imperials do a very good job as well(as they do on everything they sing), but the best was the original singer--Russ Taff--NO ONE can beat him. The song was made for his voice!!!!
well let me tell you something i knew russ when i was a kid and he was always so sweet to all of the kids, my sisters and i love russ and his voice. that is my point, the new imperials version of water grave is lackluster. no one sounds like russ. especially not shannon smith! rick does a great job on trumpet of jesus! that is my opinion!!!!!!!!!!!
I tend to agree with you. It is obvious that Shannon has a very trained voice and sometimes trained voices sound better on trained songs like Praise The Lord than on rockier songs. The current Imperials will find out that they can let their hair down and let God out. Rick does do a good job with this song, I have also heard the current Imps do it and all are good, but will never match Russ in my opinion. I met him twice and found him to be such a nice guy.
May have to change my opinion of Shannon after hearing the current Imperials live again on April 10, 2008--they are all growing and Shannon is getting into the "Russ suit" pretty good!!!! You want to hear THE IMPERIALS--look up the current group!!!!
I think in a Godly ministry such as The Imperials, no one should be trying to get one up on anyone, muchless former members of the group. The current Imperials are highly talented young men. I witnessed a concert with them a few nights ago and they are growing daily in the ministry that has been, is and always will be The Imperials. I assume this group of two former members share much in that desire for their group as they should for their former group The Imperials.

Well, the "original" Imperials were years before Russ came along -- and you can find some of their videos on You Tube.
Why they didn't make any when Russ was with them, I don't know.

Also, Paul Smith is still Minister of Music at FBC Colleyville (according to the church's website).
