@BoeserBiber I believe you fail to see the reason why Americans don't want our rights to our bodies taken away from us. Do you believe it's an accident that totalitarianism has been such a problem in Europe over the past 100 years? Hitler himself said public healthcare and public schools are a must.
what if I don't agree in paying for somebody's healthcare? You can call me egoistic but if I'm not allowed to keep my money isn't that morally wrong since the end don't justify the means?
@Leobons For Europeans this is a typical American attitude. I do understand your point: It's your money so why would you have to spend it for someone else? But on the other hand I, as a working citizen don't want to see a guy on the streets that can't even afford to get some medicine. It is a very European attitude and some Americans would call that socialism, but I'm really glad with our health care system in Germany. To pay for others doesn't really hurt anyone and all can benefit.
@BoeserBiber ok, if you don't want to see the guy on the street go ahead and pay for his healthcare but don't force me to pay for it. I DON'T want to!
I'm very glad to live in Germany as there's almost the same help for every person having a healthcare problem, no matter how much money you got. Isn't this how it should be everywhere as health is our general primary concern?
The explanation how the system works in Germany must be made more precise: If your pay before tax is 1000, you pay some percents of it for health-, unemployment- and pensionfunds. ( about 20 % of it) Your boss has to add about the same amount of money to the funds, but only those 1000 of yours are taxed. As a result you may go home with let's say 660 from the original 1000 but you have cost your boss about 1200 or even a little more.
@Jeansschwimmer Your boss will of cource claim the money he has given to the funds as costs for his enterprise and get tax reductions on them. Employees can only get a handful of euros back from the tax office.
People with low income are not taxed anymore, as their income has been reduced by these funds. Even parts of the money that prison inmates earn is given to the funds so that even they are entitled to a pension as if they had worked like anyone else.
@Jeansschwimmer Empoyees only have to be careful with some empoyers who might "forget" to register them with one of the healthcare insurances - as my did.
You choose from a number of healthcare insurances that work on this legal basis ( they do not really compete) and tell your boss when you are hired. He does the rest and his bookkeeping transfers the money, pays tax on your income to the taxoffice and transfer the rest to your account.
Taxes are used to fill gaps in the system and the producers of pharmaceutic products have ways to exploit it, so that the price for medicines are far too high here in Germany. But we love the system. See, our "Liberals" - and that word does not mean "left" over here but "free-market" try to change it and shunt the costs to the employees. Result: They will be kicked out of Parliament in the next election according to polls.
I always thought that only third world countries and banana republics didn't have a social healthcare system... Turns out I was right. Sad to see though is that, where we already knew the US has no problem treating non-US citizens like shit, they also treat their own citizens like crap.
What US-America seems to lack is a sense of solidarity. When I hear Americans touting "liberty", I hear "darwinism" and "egoism". I'd rather pay a part of the healthcare of that "shmuck on the street" than watch him die in the ditch. To me it's a simple matter of human decency.
@GermanEfficiency Unfortunately that is not what he is introducing. Obama is introducing tax payers funding insurance companies then just forcing them to buy it. It is disgusting.
@attemptingtobehumble Well, the one good part of his plan is that insurance companies will now have to spend 85% of the money they take in on actual health care instead of so much on advertising and administration, which means cheaper, better health insurance for consumers.
The social system of healthcare in Germany was once invented by the former Reichschancellor von Bismarck in the 19th century. And this guy was defenitely NOT a communist or a socialist. As a US-American nowadays he probably would be a member of the Republican Party. He saw the necessity of a modern, common healthcare-system for all germans, so that everyone could get medical care if it is needed..no matter if you are poor or rich.
Did someone hear the important word about the German system? He said: Non-Profit! That's why the states spend the double amount of money for treatment! It's all about making money! Too many people want to make money with the healthiness of people... That is inhuman and needs to get stopped!
Some hospitals are NOT 'Mercy Hospitals'. My friend broke his leg and since he owed the local small town hospital $100 and couldn't pay the bill he was sent home with his leg broke and unset. His brother had to drive from 40 miles away to drive him to Indianapolis to get his leg repaired. Millions of Americans face the same problem everyday.
Forget Germany sweetheart We need an adequate health care here now! Not one that was ranked #37 by the world health organization. Not a health care that denies coverage to people with pre-existing conditions, not one that is completely under the control of the health care industry!
Its realy a easy system in germany not the best bud it Much better as in other countrys.
well take a look to France or Mexico thay are a way better as us... Germans bud you have to use it. I mean it truh its cost a lot of mony for the next 5 Jears bud after this time the people are able to work again and sund werden ihre tax wieder zahlen. vieleicht für die gesundheitssteuer
They also have to have more doctors in Germany because the model of health care delivery is very different in Germany. In Germany doctors fill the role of paramedics and there are no physicians assistants or nurse practitioners. So we dont need as many doctors per capita. Also it makes no mention that there are not as many medical specialties in Germany. For example there are no board certified Emergency Physicians in Germany. In the ER you will be treated by an intensivist or anesthesiologist.
Hey, I'm from Germany and let me tell you one thing: you obviously don't know anything about the German healthcare. Everything what you said in your comments is wrong, wrong, wrong.
The German healthcare is very good, but we also have problems, which are mainly:
- Medicine is more expensive than anywhere else on this planet
- Doctors get more money from patients with private insurrances, so they prefer these patients.
This does NOT mean that the others are treated worse, but they have to wait longer for an appointment and have to share their room in hospital with 1 or 2 other people. But in the case of an emergency everyone is treated the same way and gets help immediately.
But everything you said is bullshit. I'm sorry to tell you this, but this is a fact! We have enough doctors, medical specialist, etc. We also have paramedics and these are NOT doctors.
I think you mixed it up with the emergency physician, who is only needed in really serious emergencies. Btw: there are physicians assistants in Germany! Ok, I stop here because there is just so much wrong in what you say that it would take me a lot of time to correct all your mistakes.
Just stop your nationalistic behaviour. The healthcare in the US is definitely not the best in the world! This is a fact!
And I don't say: Germany's healthcare is the best in the world, because I don't have the possibility to compare our healthcare to the healthcare of all the other 192 states.
Also the comarison of the ratio of doctors is misleading because your not seeing the whole story here. No one pays over a million dollars to go to medical school in Germany.. but... yes there is a but... Doctors in Germany only make about 1/4th, if that, of what an American doctor makes. So it is easier to become to a doctor in Germany and takes about 2 years less (not including a residency which could make it far more).
I am a Canadian who lived 2 years in Germany (2005-07) and was highly impressed with their system. Yes, my wife and I paid more via our employer, but the system works. In Canada, our system is very flawed. We are like the C- student comparing ourselves to the F student (USA) and feel good about ourselves. After returning to Canada, I have many horror stories about the care my family receives. I believe in publicly funded health care, but under the German model, not the Canadian.
Why would you call the US an F student? If I get sick or hurt I go to the hospital and get the best care available and I dont have to wait a week to get a CT scan or an ICU bed (canada) I only have to wait the time it takes for them to wheel me over to one. And thats true for any person in the United States, citizen or non citizen. Every one has access to the best care in the world. Now, will it come back and bite you in the ass financially? ohh you bet it will! But an F student? Come on...
Not everbody in the US has access to the best healthcare in the world, they haven't even access. Maybe YOU but are you egoistic? There are people who can't work or are so stupid like you and can't pay for a health insurance.
As a German I have to say that the German system has its weaknesses as well. Those insured in the "public option" have long waiting periods for non-urgent procedures. Also the privately insured pay in part for the public option as their insurances pay more to doctors for equal treatment. Still I personally think that's a fair price to pay for affordable health care for all.
As an American living and working in Germany all I can say is I am very satisfied with socialized medicine here.....When I am sick I am paid in full and everyone is insured even the unemployed
A former Premier of Alberta (Ralph Klein) tried to introduce a 3rd way of paying for healthcare like Germany's but there was too much resistance from everyone and Ottawa (Fed gov't). Canadians are incredible uncomfortable with private care and private insurance. They don't want a system where the rich get the best care, middle-class get average care and the working class and poor get the bare bones, so to speak. I agree to a point.
@albedoshader It was on the news the other day. There are towns in the USA where the firebrigade will not come to save your life and your house when you have not paid for their service. Do not blame the Americans, they were told to think it is patriotic to wind yellow ribbons around trees, not to care for each other as if they were really " a people".
@jerome96114 buddy, i work my ass off for my paycheck. i couldnt get a job right away after college because of the job market so im working in a factory (which i actually enjoy my work). its stressful and not a glam job but i EARN MY money. ill be damned if "some shmuck down the street is gonna get a cut of that. he has a right to live, but not a right to my money. mkay?
@tha3immortals : So you would let him die if he gets an illness, instead of giving away a bit of your wealth ?
If yes then to my standards, and of most around here, it defines you officially as a selfish a. hole.
But hey - we do not only have health care by state, but also "unemployed' money" by state, so on the other hand we almost do not even have "shmucks down the street", as they get enogh money to have a small flat.
Of course they have to proof be willing to work, but not finding, do get it
@jerome96114 stop putting words in my mouth. i never said id let him die. also, there is such a thing as health insurance. socialism does work on a small scale but it doesnt work on 300 million people (USA). too many free loaders that scam the system. and so what if im being selfish. What if i had a family? how am i supposed to take care of my family if im paying for other people...i honestly dont understand your socialist logic
And i do not understand you calling it socialism. Our neighbour (GDR) was until 1990 socialistic, so we know the differences between our system and socialism. Our is not socialism. It was introduced back then in the 19th century by Bismarck who even was a enemy of socialism (he also made the anti-socialist-laws) Almost all european lands have universal health care. Even the vatican. Do you call the vatican socialistic?
on my channel the is a vid (health care - a socialistic system) explaining why universal health care is not socialistic. Go and watch it before further discussion!
And you can still care for your family as what the state takes away from your income is a rather small percentage.
On the other hand if one of your childs or your spouse ever will need an expensive operation you can be sure the states insurance pays for it.
@jerome96114 i dont need to watch some video explaining that..universal healthcare is socialistic. theres no argument on that. if you live in a socialist country, then what you hear in the media and read in books will convince you that socialism is a good thing. remember that.
Lol. Nope. You have to have been a sleep in your history lesson western germany (eventhough having health care) Never was socailistic. Eastern germany was. Thats why reagen went to (democratic) western germany, and sayd on the border to eastern germany "open this gate, turn down this wall".
And how can you ignore the fact, that universal healthcare was invented by an enemy of socialism (bismarck)?
And Ergo: You say the vatican (wich has universal healthcare) is socialistic.?!
@jerome96114 theres no point in arguing on youtube...i dont understand how you cant understand this. maybe cuz you grew being told that its a good thing. America doesnt even have the money for universal healthcare
Maybe. - But whatever it is, one thing is sure: It is not a socialistic thing. Universal healthcare - as said - was invented by bismarck, a german monarchist (!) long before socialists of other states wanted it, and even the vatican to day has it. And nobody can call the pope a socialist, can he :-P
@tha3immortals Be honest: you do not want to pay for the Hispanic or Black who may polish your shoes.
We have the same discussion here and the same hateful feelings against Turks with ten kids ( the family is of course insured via their father or mother who goes to work). But falling ill is something that can happen to anyone and if I needed expensive hospital treatment, maybe for the rest of my life, I am happy that there are people who fund it.
@CoIdHeat the last dr i went to in Germany told me that Americans talk like they have a potato in their mouth and one before that said that Americans only speak "slang talk"
another one lectured me about USA's stance on HIV and Immigration and yet another went into hysterics when I believed i had Asthma , - which of course I later tested positive for and how many times did i hear all my health problems were "psychological" before I found out I have lupus, A disease with killed
@poosaypirate two members of my family and at least 5 other documented cases of auto immune disease in my family, those are just SOME examples , theres more
if you call that "friendly" I hope you are treated that way too
@poosaypirate Nope, the doctors treat me politely. But i agree that there is room for improvement and this "if all else fails, its psychological" annoys me as well. Compared to western world standarts, i thing were still in the upper field, especially in surgery and research but when it comes to more "unusual" diseases, some act quite disappointing. I just wonder if US doctors are that much more polite and good? So how did you find out about that lupus?
@CoIdHeat I doubt an American DR would stand there and tell a patient that their people speak like a potato in the mouth of lecture them on the legal rights of HIV immigration in their country- that kind of thing is frowned up by EDUCATED people in USA a hill billy might do that ,yes
@poosaypirate You haven't wrote anything about the question i asked so i'd assume you better read more carefully. Anyway now i can see, why the doctors threated you like that. You act yourself pretty unpolite so you shouldn't expect from others, to give more than you are willing to give. About the potato: Did you ever thought about the fact that MAYBE you might sound to others like that? Were used to british received pronunciation, not american slang. All i read is Mi-Mi-Mi
@CoIdHeat sounds like a personal attack to me. you nationalists are all the same
she said AMERICANS *PLURAL* Again you didn't read what a I wrote, you are tedious judgmental and a waste of my time
i hope you get cancer
since you werent there, you can only judge by what i report but you are reading your own story anyway
and as for your "American slang" all you are doing is repeating what this Dr said which further illustrates that Germans are rude ignorant nationalists
@poosaypirate I'd be amused to hear what makes you think, i would be a nationalist. Well well so you wrote "Americans". I guess i just haven't focused enough on that babble of yours which is barely worth any time anyway. Its something inbetween hilarious and sad how you whine about being treated unpolitely when you act like a absolute rude sociopath and wish others cancer. You should indeed take psychological help. Just a hint.
no wonder americans have no idea about anything, this is wrong

And i do not understand you calling it socialism. Our neighbour (GDR) was until 1990 socialistic, so we know the differences between our system and socialism. Our is not socialism. It was introduced back then in the 19th century by Bismarck who even was a enemy of socialism (he also made the anti-socialist-laws) Almost all european lands have universal health care. Even the vatican. Do you call the vatican socialistic?

@tha3immortals [part to]
on my channel the is a vid (health care - a socialistic system) explaining why universal health care is not socialistic. Go and watch it before further discussion!
And you can still care for your family as what the state takes away from your income is a rather small percentage.
On the other hand if one of your childs or your spouse ever will need an expensive operation you can be sure the states insurance pays for it.

@jerome96114 i dont need to watch some video explaining that..universal healthcare is socialistic. theres no argument on that. if you live in a socialist country, then what you hear in the media and read in books will convince you that socialism is a good thing. remember that.
tha3immortals 1 month ago
@tha3immortals :
Lol.
And Ergo: You say the vatican (wich has universal healthcare) is socialistic.?!
jerome96114 1 month ago
@jerome96114 theres no point in arguing on youtube...i dont understand how you cant understand this. maybe cuz you grew being told that its a good thing. America doesnt even have the money for universal healthcare
tha3immortals 1 month ago
@tha3immortals :
Maybe. - But whatever it is, one thing is sure: It is not a socialistic thing. Universal healthcare - as said - was invented by bismarck, a german monarchist (!) long before socialists of other states wanted it, and even the vatican to day has it. And nobody can call the pope a socialist, can he :-P

@CoIdHeat which are owned and controlled by world banks anyway, many of those are German so you were saying?
poosaypirate 2 weeks ago
@tha3immortals Be honest: you do not want to pay for the Hispanic or Black who may polish your shoes.
We have the same discussion here and the same hateful feelings against Turks with ten kids ( the family is of course insured via their father or mother who goes to work). But falling ill is something that can happen to anyone and if I needed expensive hospital treatment, maybe for the rest of my life, I am happy that there are people who fund it.

@findelkind666 the quality sucks and the drs act like assholes
poosaypirate 2 weeks ago
@poosaypirate In fact, the doctors are incredibly friendly and the quality is very good.

@CoIdHeat thats a crock an opinion and an anecdotal one
but generally medicine is -... yah -zzzzzzzzz

@CoIdHeat the last dr i went to in Germany told me that Americans talk like they have a potato in their mouth and one before that said that Americans only speak "slang talk"
another one lectured me about USA's stance on HIV and Immigration and yet another went into hysterics when I believed i had Asthma , - which of course I later tested positive for and how many times did i hear all my health problems were "psychological" before I found out I have lupus, A disease with killed
poosaypirate 2 weeks ago
@poosaypirate two members of my family and at least 5 other documented cases of auto immune disease in my family, those are just SOME examples , theres more
if you call that "friendly" I hope you are treated that way too
poosaypirate 2 weeks ago
@poosaypirate Nope, the doctors treat me politely. But i agree that there is room for improvement and this "if all else fails, its psychological" annoys me as well. Compared to western world standarts, i thing were still in the upper field, especially in surgery and research but when it comes to more "unusual" diseases, some act quite disappointing. I just wonder if US doctors are that much more polite and good? So how did you find out about that lupus?
CoIdHeat 2 weeks ago
@CoIdHeat I doubt an American DR would stand there and tell a patient that their people speak like a potato in the mouth of lecture them on the legal rights of HIV immigration in their country- that kind of thing is frowned up by EDUCATED people in USA a hill billy might do that ,yes
poosaypirate 2 weeks ago
@CoIdHeat did you not read a fucking thing i wrote before?
no
poosaypirate 2 weeks ago
@poosaypirate You haven't wrote anything about the question i asked so i'd assume you better read more carefully. Anyway now i can see, why the doctors threated you like that. You act yourself pretty unpolite so you shouldn't expect from others, to give more than you are willing to give. About the potato: Did you ever thought about the fact that MAYBE you might sound to others like that? Were used to british received pronunciation, not american slang. All i read is Mi-Mi-Mi
CoIdHeat 2 weeks ago
@CoIdHeat sounds like a personal attack to me. you nationalists are all the same
she said AMERICANS *PLURAL* Again you didn't read what a I wrote, you are tedious judgmental and a waste of my time
i hope you get cancer
since you werent there, you can only judge by what i report but you are reading your own story anyway
and as for your "American slang" all you are doing is repeating what this Dr said which further illustrates that Germans are rude ignorant nationalists
poosaypirate 2 weeks ago
@poosaypirate I'd be amused to hear what makes you think, i would be a nationalist. Well well so you wrote "Americans". I guess i just haven't focused enough on that babble of yours which is barely worth any time anyway. Its something inbetween hilarious and sad how you whine about being treated unpolitely when you act like a absolute rude sociopath and wish others cancer. You should indeed take psychological help. Just a hint.
