  • I'm thinking it does feel sorry to eat the cake - a masterpiece

  • wow that very cool

  • Looks so easy to do wondering how u got the duck cake???

  • Aretta7: The large ducks are wallpaper border that I put clear tape on the back of to keep the glue off the icing. I then put the support plate on, and piped the white bubbles to make a wall for the water that the little duck are sitting in. I used blue colored piping gel for the water!

  • Yes it's cake. The cake pan is made by Wilton...

  • i love this cake, very cute!! i have to make a rubber ducky cake for my friend's baby shower & i hope it's atleast close to as cute as this cake!

  • Wow, your cake is beautiful. You have so much talent and patience. Bravo !!!

  • I love it... so cute.

  • if i buy store bought pipping gel all i do is color it and put it onthe cake

  • sick how good she is!! :D

  • WOW! that is soooo amazing!!!!

  • cool I wish my mom could do that because my she doesn't now how to cook!

  • Where did you learn to do cake decorating like this? I've made cakes for my family for birthdays and stuff, and I'd love to do something like this for them.

  • I started off on my own, playing around to see what worked. Then I researched everything I could on the net about cake decorating. I learned a lot from watching videos on here, and reading info on cake forums. Let me know if I can help any further, I always love to pass on the knowledge others have so willingly given me.

  • i love this cake..what kind of frosting u used 2 do the duck??

  • Thank you! I use buttercream.

  • I would feel bad eating that cake =)

  • me gustan tus pasteles, estan muy lindos.

  • omg i love your cake it is the cutest i was wondering when you put the piping gel do you put it right on the cake or you put something down thank you

  • It can be done either way, as long as you the gel is completely cooled. (so it won't melt your buttercream) For this cake it was on a cake support plate.

  • was one cake mix enough for the duck sitting on the cake?i used 1 cake mix for the car shaped pan and it didn't fill up the pan so the mould came out half!

  • To be honest, I don't remember - but if I had to guess I'd say just over one mix to be safe. I also have the 3D bear pan, and I mix 2 mixes for that one...but use only a little more than 1.

  • Awsome job. What did you use for the duck on the side of the bottem cake

  • Thank you! The ducks on the sides are wallpaper border that I backed with clear packing tape (to keep the glue off the cake).

  • awwesoomeee!!! its so nice done . i want to be able to do that !!!

  • i have 2 questions plz...how'd u make the piping gel and did u use the cake jacks to support the big ducky?i'mmaking a 12" cake with a ca shaped cake on top..do u think i'd need nything to support the car ontop?thanku again for sharing..god bless u

  • I would add the support. I tend to be over protective sometimes though. The recipe for piping gel is:

2 envelopes (2 tablespoons) Knox unflavored gelatin

    2 tablespoons cold water

    2 cups light Karo syrup

    1. Sprinkle the gelatin over the cold water in a small saucepan and let set for about 5 minutes. Heat on low until the gelatin has become clear/dissolved - DO NOT BOIL.

    2. Add the syrup and heat thoroughly.

    3. Cool and store refrigerated for up to 2 months.

    Good luck! God Bless!!

  • tell us the ingredients plus how did you make that duck it is so niceeee

  • Thank you! The duck is a pan from Wilton, and I use Duncan Hines cake mixes ;)

  • okay....now how are you going to take it to your cousin...

  • I disassembled it before I transported it! ;)

  • woow my fav. u should start teaching how to make cakes like yours

  • OMG!!! this is THE cutest cake EVER!

  • very nice..Great job!! :)

  • Amber, you have TALENT! Is this a home-based business for you?! Bake the cakes in your OWN oven?!

  • Thank you so much, I appreciate your kind comments!! :) As of right now, I do most of my baking as gifts to friends and family, and yes out of my home. I am in the process of opening Sweet Pea's Cakery, a licensed bakery, in Fremont Indiana. My goal is to be up an running by the end of the year.

  • OUTSTANDING! I am certain that you are going to knock the SOCKS off of people who live in the Mid-West--Illinois/Indiana area :) Best wishes & good luck to fulfilling your cake-baking dreams!

  • How on earth did you transport it to the party location???

  • It was tranported in 2 pieces, and gave me a huge headache! I assembled it for the video, but took it back apart into just the 2 cakes to get it the party...

  • woooooooooooooooooooooooooow ur my hero! i think cake decorating is awesome. edible art. yum.

  • Thank You! :)

  • thats so cute

  • that was very awesome, your naturally tallented. i really enjoy watching it

  • Thank you! :)

  • Hi!How you make a piping gel?

  • 2 envelopes (2 tablespoons) Knox gelatin 2 tablespoons cold water 2 cups light Karo syrup

    1. Sprinkle the gelatin over the cold water in a small saucepan and let set for about 5 minutes. Heat on low until the gelatin has become clear/dissolved - DO NOT BOIL.

    2. Add the syrup and heat thoroughly.

    3. Cool and store, refrigerated, for up to 2 months

  • how do you make it duck shaped

  • The top duck is a pan from Wilton!

  • cool cake!

  • I have to ask, how do you make your yellow so yellow?

I have tried making my buttercream frosting to have bright color and I can never do it. Do you use special coloring or anything?

  • Nothing special, just gel food coloring. You get much brighter colors than with liquid. I use all brands..Wilton makes some good basic colors.

  • Thank you! I will try that.

  • thats fantastic :)

  • Don't go breakin' my heart.

  • that cake is ugly

  • Well, can you do any better?

  • wow--amazing job! loved watching that:)

  • The fact you did that with little kids in the house is amazing too!!!!

  • Wow. You are amaing, and I wish all the most luck with the opening of your new bakery. I'm sure it will be fabulous.

One question, where did you get the clear cake stand thing? I've only ever seen the wedding cake pillars?

  • Thank you! I bought the stand at Country Kitchen Sweet Art out of Ft. Wayne, IN. It never let's me post the address but if you search the name they do have a website! :)

  • Thanks for the quick response. I love it. And I can't wait to see what other beauties you come up with! :)

  • Your cakes look so beatiful and delicious. If they taste as good as they look...let me tell you girl, you can charge what you want. Good luck!

  • Thank you very much! :)

  • thats my aunt

  • Reminds me of myself, making cakes in my Pampered Chef Apron. Looks great keep it up :)

  • You did a really good job on that one!!!! How much would you sell that cake for? I wanna have a wedding cake business, but I have no clue about pricing.

  • I didn't sell that cake..it was a gift. But my shop will opening soon and my prices are $1.75 per serving, or $2 for 3D or carved cakes. If there are bakeries in your area I would scope out their prices so you can have a guide line..remember your time is worth something..don't undercharge.

  • Thank you very much for replying my comment. I just got done making my very first wedding cake for my sister-in-law. It was also my very first time working with fondant. It turned out well, but not perfect. I wish i could have done better, but oh well I'm not that good, lol. I think $1.75 is really cheap, especially for your beautiful cakes. I looked around online, and most wedding cakes start at 2-3 dollars. ! Only $2 for carved cakes, WoW!

  • You are very welcome, I am sure your cake was absolutely beautiful! After you get your first one under your belt it gets easier! :) I would love to charge more, but I live in a rural area..no one around this area pays much more for their cakes. Oh well! ;)

  • That is just too cute~~!! I love rubber duckies...so really caught my eye!

  • that is so very cool

and looks edible.. not like other cakes that are made to look like mcdonalds, handbags or caps...

    ^__^

  • that is crazy! did you take classes at wilton?

  • Thank you so much. I have not taken any classses..but hope to soon.

  • wow!

  • That is AMAZING! wow!!

  • This is great!

  • MAC-MAC...PER TE BEBE !!!

  • wow your good!!!!!

  • wow. your amazing. I wish i could do that. you should put up how to videos on you tube please. youll make alot of money at your bakery.good luck let me know if you do the lessons on youtube.

  • OMG, that is amazing. And I can't believe that you hand-piped that entire duck on the top (wasn't your arm killing you?). Makes me wish I lived in Indiana so I could go to your shop (when it opens) this summer. But no, instead I'll just have to ooh and aah over your YouTube vids, haha! Great work!

  • that is the most adorable cake ever

it would make me cry if they ate it :(

  • but it would make the baker cry when the cake goes bad and is thrown away uneaten :(

  • I agree you are talented and have the patience of a saint...

    great job!

  • she is a true artist! you are wikid

  • My sixteen month old would go crazy over that cake. Ducks are her favorite animals. You have talent hun. Keep up the great work :D

  • you've got made talent! Luv it!

  • que bueno ver el proceso

  • congratulation!!

I have a question!! Do you work from your home?? this is my dream!!

Give tips!! Help me.. do you have any license to work from your home?

    I hope your response.

    Thank you!

  • natalieflower22:

Currently I am baking from home, but I do not sell those cakes. It is against health code in my state (Indiana). Each state varies, as well does each county within. I am opening a licensed shop this summer, and will start charging then. I would start by calling your local health department, and see what advice or information they can give you. There are also lots of resources on the net to help you find out the laws for each state.

    Best of luck! :)

  • I did never get this when i was little, it's unfair! :)

  • Rubber ducks are one of my obsessions lol.

Oh, so you used piping gel for the water. I've only ever seen it done with jello. I think I like this idea better.

  • WOW! That is an original cake, good job!!

  • great job!! im glad i found this video. i have to make a duckie cake next month! thanks

  • if the duck is eatabull it looks yummy!!

oooo i want one for my b-day

  • awesome!

  • Ace of Cakes is one of my favourite shows. You did an awesome job with this. I can't wait to see your other stuff.

  • yeah that show iz kool

  • The ducks on the side of the bottom tier are cut from wallpaper border. I put packing tape on the back to prevent grease from getting into the paper. The dots were bubbles..so the 3d duck had dots on him because he had bubbles on him.

  • Good job on decorating that cake, but I do have a few questions for you if you don't mind. What did you use to create that huge duck on the side of the cake on the bottom tier? Also you did an outstanding job with the stars and dots, but why were there some white dots on the duck? Overall great video and I loved the idea of piping gel to create the pool effect!

  • The white dots were bubbles I think.

  • wow !! it looks so cool and sweet!

congratulations you have a big big talent.

  • Omgg your so good at making cakes!! the gel was a super good idea! the duck was cute to ^^

  • You should work at charm city![:

  • That would be a dream!! What a compliment, thank you sooo much!! Duff is my hero!

  • you have a great talent! that cake looked so yummy, well done!

  • cool. more pplz should start doing things like this

  • Wow... What an awesome cake !!!!! Thanks for sharing

  • wow you are amazing! Thanks =D

  • Hi.. thank you so much for the recipe. Hope I can make as perfect as you did.. I really love watching your videos. Stay good and have a nice day!! Godbless!!

  • Thank you so much!!! Positive encouragement really makes my day, you are very kind.

  • how much would u sell that cake 4

  • I'm honestly not sure. Since I don't do this professionally I don't have a price list. I would say I'd have to charge at least $100.

  • THATS SO CUTE!

I love this cake! Do you make these to sell or is it just a hobby. I you do sell them, how much would a cake like this cost?

  • Thank you!! I just make them for hobby right now, hopefully someday I can do it as a profession.

  • are the little ducks made of fondant? or are they not eatable... Those are 2 separate cakes, right?!

  • The small duck are plastic cake decorations, non-edible. And the duck is a sepearte cake from the one it sits on, if that is what you meant by 'two seperate cakes'.

  • wow. thats so awesome!

  • You're so good.. Please teach me how to make the duck cake and the piping gel.. Pleeeaaaassseee...

  • The duck is just pound cake baked in the Wilton duck pan. The piping gel is a simple recipe..

2 envelopes plain gelatin (found next to Jello)

    2 Tablespoon COLD water

    2 Cups light corn syrup

    1. Sprinkle the gelatin over the cold water in a small saucepan and let set for about 5 minutes. Heat on low until the gelatin has become clear/dissolved - DO NOT BOIL.

    2. Add the syrup and heat thoroughly.

    3. Cool and store, refrigerated, for up to 2 months.

  • Thanks for the Gelatin recipe, I just ordered the Duck for my friends surprise Birthday Party next week and I'm going to do a 2 tier cake with an Orange Pond, I didn't know how to do the Gelatin. Thanks again.

  • You are very welcome! Good luck on your cake!!

  • that was so amazing.. I really enjoyed watching it. I do bake too, I'll try to make one. thanks for the video..

    Godbless!!

  • Omg. This cake is amazing!! I love rubber duckies so I almost passed out when I saw this! haha, great job, that is TALENT.

  • Aww...thank you so much! ;)

  • i love your cake! how does that mold of the duck work? some of the cake molds i have are 3d but flat on one side. i have never seen anything like that! also are you using royal icing? i want a thicker icing than the kinds that come premade in the store.

  • Thank you for the compliment. The mold is two pieces. You fill half with the cake batter, and the other side fills from the cake rising....very simple!! I use buttercream icing, royal icing won't go well on a cake meant to be eaten. There are tons of buttercream recipes online..try a few and and then stick to the one you like best!! Good luck!

  • would you give classed, i would also take classed over the internet, thanks

  • Thank you for the great compliment, however I don't think I'm advanced enough to give classes at this point. I am willing to answer any questions you have, and help in any way!! Thanks again! ;)

  • This cake is so cute. Cute for a babyshower. I got the duck mold resently I have not used it yet. After seeing this I am excited to do a similer style. I did by some ducky candy moldes but I am going to use it with fondant so I can but them around the cake for decoration. I do like your pond idea though. Maybe I could but the fondant ducky molds inside. Is the duck on the side a carboard duck? Were did you get it?

  • Thank you for the compliment. The duck on the side is wallpaper border from Wal-mart . I iced the back to keep the glue from getting on the cake..but I like your fondant idea better ;)

  • what is the duck made of?

  • It's cake, but it was put into a duck cake mold.

  • wow, thanks. I think this cake is amazing. I'd love to be able to do stuff like this in the future

  • thanks!! This cake is amazing, and I would love to do stuff like this in the future

  • Can I ask you if you used dowel rods to tier the duck on top of the round cake? I'm planning on making a similar cake and was wondering if I needed the rods or not. Thank you for your help!

  • The bottome tier does have dowels to support the top tier weight.

  • Wooar! It looked Minging to start with , But at the end-You wouldnt belive it was the same old Ducky!!

    I wish i could do this!! :)

  • Do you give classes? If you gave classes over the net, I would take one!

  • Thanks so much, I don't give classes..but am willing to help in any way I can.

  • That is AMAZING!!! Do you do this for a living? If not, you should. It's really cool!

  • Thank you so much for the compliment!! I don't do this for living...I've only been paid once..and that was unexpected!! I hope to someday have a cake shop, but not for a while.

  • aww cute

  • i bake cakes like this too. i was wondering where do u find colored fondant? and also where did u get the stand?

  • give me your skill and I'll give you chocolate...haha, no seriously, that kicks ass.

  • I'll take chocolate for just about anything lol! Thanks!

  • there should have been bubbles on top of its head would have been more adorable than it already was

  • Amazing!!!

  • Hi there , what is the duck mode of?

  • The large duck is pound cake!

  • Your cakes are great. I wondering what kind of frosting do ou use?

  • Oh my goodness, that is simply GORGEOUS! You are amazing and very talented!

  • teach me how to make that, pleease!

  • interesting! it`s incredible.. and i love the background song. May i know the title of the song?

  • I believe the first song is "Don't go breaking my heart" by Elton John, and the second song is "Strong Enough" by Cher.

  • Wow! Great cake, Amber! That is so impressive...how man Advil did it take until your back quit aching after that project, jeez...you rock

  • wow, meraviglioso!

  • this is just awesome... love it... great job...

  • whats the really big duck made of?

Great cake by the way : )

  • The large duck on top is made of pound cake.

  • WOW!!!!!!!! That is so cool!

  • soooo cute!

  • cool cake

  • you should have your own shop !

  • WOOOW awesome cake girl!!! what do you mean you're not a professional?! you work like one!!

    =)

  • r the ducks in the pond plastic or sugar??

  • The ducks are plastic, but the pond is made of blue piping gel.
