it's breaks your heart to watch this, but the positive thing here is the cat is not in anymore pain or suffering. for some people their just pets, but they are so much more like family any they give back so much love. to this owner of her baby i'm sorry for your loss.

The vets never figured out what it was. He stopped eating which caused liver problems and he couldn't overcome it. Most of my memories of him are from the past though because I only had such a short time with him. He was only 4. I had him cremated and have his remains in an urn in his favorite window with his collar around it.

Would I have have put her down...."probably not" If I had taken the advice of my X Vet, my Cat would also have gone the same way. My cats totally recovered, what do they know? But maybe different circumstances, who knows?

So sorry, and your right about other pets grieving. My friend had a litter of Cats, he kept them all, they where all in there late twenties, when the inevitable happened, one died. He kept the body in a cardboard box and left it in his house, he said to me that the other cats had to,"let her go" at this point I thought he was totally mad, but when we buried her two days later, six foot under the ground, all his cats sat round the grave. again sorry for your loss.
I feel pain for all pet owners who lose their beloved pets. I just lost the greatest cat to me about a year ago of a heart attack...and when I found out about it I cried...it was like a child to me. I loved that cat with all my heart <3
I know euthanasia is a loving way to help your pet cross over (My dog was put down last summer) But I am against putting them down when conscience. Her last moments are a bit scary when feeling the effects of the drug and that is why they should be given a sedative to slowly let them fall alseep give them the final meds.

Ive been doing alot of research and i would have to say 95-99% of people that believe in heaven (including pastors) say there is no reason that God would deny us the pets that we loved so much and made such an impact on our lives. I even read a couple of near death experiences where the first person that greeted them in heaven wasnt a person, it was their pet!

A few days ago I was with my friend while she worked at an animal shelter. She was in charge of putting a eleven year old Tabby to sleep. The owner had a shoebox and said that it was only right the cat be put down in the company of his friends. When she opened the box two rats came out. They climbed on the cat and waited with it while it was put down all the while grooming its fur. I thought it was really sweet.
when i first say this video i broke down in tears then i began to think of my two long gone dead cats Sohipe and Princey Princey was just a baby when he died. And sohipe was his beautiful mother. Sohipe we had to bring upstate cuz she was really sick and then my mother found her on the floor almost about to die to my aunt and my mother rushed her to the animal hosptial where they put her to sleep. when they came back home i was sitting on the counching wondering if she came home.
I know how hard it is...it's like your baby. I know when we had to do this with our cat my 2 year old son literally went into mourning because he couldn't find her anymore. He couldn't even speak, but we knew his little soul was hurt.

That was beautiful. you are such a good pet owner. callie had alot of friends and family there to see her off. I was in tears when callie looked up at the camera before her final moments. but at least when she laid her head back she fell back into the arms of her momma.

i think putting animals to sleep is so horrible, no matter how much pain they are in every one deserves to live until you or they die them selves, you keep fighting for life until you can't possibly fight anymore...death does not have a set day in and clock for someone who can't make a choice them selves like the animal.

by the way, i also had a painful goodbye with my own cat named callie, except instead of being put to sleep, my callie was brutally attacked, torn to shreds, and eaten by a hawk.
the way that callie looked at the camera (4:56) was the same way that snowball looked at me as i was putting her down, and i started crying so badly i almost screamed when callie and snowy did it...
We cannot empathize with the other animals, so how do we know they are not thinking, "What the heck are we doing here?" The other pets are certainly not whimpering and putting their paws on Callie at the point of death. This whole spectacle only serves Callie's owner despite the possibility that the other animals don't give a damn what is happening.
@RK831 obviously pets haven't got any notion of "death" and "life", but they still feel it when another pet they used to live with is missing, just like they miss you when you're out and you leave them at home. Maybe being there wasn't imprtant for them, even though I doubt they'll forget her. But you know, maybe it was a bit of a relief for Callie, not only for her owner. She didn't spend her last moments in the coldness of a vet practice, but surrounded with love... You can't do much better.
i lost my collie, ladd to pancreatic cancer. he was only 4. i was in high school at the time, i came home to find him not eating or drinking. he would go hide in my parents bathroom. i went to the store, got little turkey basters and had to give him water by hand. i took him to the vet, and when the vet took a blood sample, the blood turned a merky yellow... my heart sank. he ended up being put down within hours... it was very hard. he was my buddy. im really sorry about your cat = (

She didn't have any sickness, but she just aged a lot , and she started crying in pain, so I knew it was time. Here's a thought that I had after we came home: Your other pets are there for you. If you have other pets, which you do, just know that they love Callie and they are there to help you through the tough times. I still have 2 cats to keep me company. R.I.P Callie.
We will see and feel the pain of our animal friends, move heaven and earth to help them, but in the end we will let them go with love, peace, and dignity.
But when it comes to our loved ones and even ourselves, we insist on holding onto a life that is nothing but pain, indignity, and suffering.

My kitty now has just gotten the horrible diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. I am keeping him home with me until I see he is suffering. Then I too, will give him peace by helping him over to the other side to be reunited with his brother.

My cat wasn't that lucky,we brought him to the vet in the morning leaving him there thinking the vet would only check what's wrong with him when he discovered 2 massive tumors in his intestines :( he called us if he should wake him up again from his anasthesia but we decided not to bring him back and let him wait in pain till we're there.I think about it everyday and wish i could've been with him :(

I know euthanasia is a loving way to help your pet cross over (My dog was put down last summer) But I am against putting them down when conscience. Her last moments are a bit scary when feeling the effects of the drug and that is why they should be given a sedative to slowly let them fall alseep give them the final meds.

I am so sorry for your loss. I had to have my dog put to sleep about five years ago., It was the hardest thing I ever had to do, but I knew that it was the best that I could for Dinky. I am crying as I type.

I wish my cat could have gone with me holding her and in a better way... This made me cry so bad cuz I know i didn't get the chance to say good bye. I lost her in a cat 5 hurricane in 2005. I'm so glad you had this chance to say good bye. Never ever take it for granted.

@lostlol78 Not sure if you got any responses to your question so i thought i would tell you what i found out. Ive been doing alot of research and i would have to say 95-99% of people that believe in heaven (including pastors) say there is no reason that God would deny us the pets that we loved so much and made such an impact on our lives. I even read a couple of near death experiences where the first person that greeted them in heaven wasnt a person, it was their pet!

A few days ago I was with my friend while she worked at an animal shelter. She was in charge of putting a eleven year old Tabby to sleep. The owner had a shoebox and said that it was only right the cat be put down in the company of his friends. When she opened the box two rats came out. They climbed on the cat and waited with it while it was put down all the while grooming its fur. I thought it was really sweet.
RIP Callie, you seemed to be a lucky little cat.

when i first say this video i broke down in tears then i began to think of my two long gone dead cats Sohipe and Princey Princey was just a baby when he died. And sohipe was his beautiful mother. Sohipe we had to bring upstate cuz she was really sick and then my mother found her on the floor almost about to die to my aunt and my mother rushed her to the animal hosptial where they put her to sleep. when they came back home i was sitting on the counching wondering if she came home.

I know how hard it is...it's like your baby. I know when we had to do this with our cat my 2 year old son literally went into mourning because he couldn't find her anymore. He couldn't even speak, but we knew his little soul was hurt.

@sirvegeta WTF is wrong with you? The cat had INOPERABLE cancer and was dying. You can tell looking at the cat that it was in pain. If humans have cancer like that, the doctor just drugs them up on meds to keep them comfortable until they die. Do you just want to do the same with animals? Keep them on drugs until they shrivel up and die? This was the most humane thing the owner could have done.

my cat had cancer, luckily we got him cured, he is 3 now gonna be 4 in a few months. He has not even reached his golden years yet and i am crying. Im 12 i cant loose him its too much. That was beautiful. you are such a good pet owner. callie had alot of friends and family there to see her off. I was in tears when callie looked up at the camera before her final moments. but at least when she laid her head back she fell back into the arms of her momma.

awwwwwh :( my cat is 15 too... nearly 16..he has had cancer, and lost an eye due to a fighth ( hes a tom cat) and has been rat posioned 3 times...hes such a fighter and i hope hel fight on for a few more years..he looks great for what hes been through though :) sorry for your loss xx

i think putting animals to sleep is so horrible, no matter how much pain they are in every one deserves to live until you or they die them selves, you keep fighting for life until you can't possibly fight anymore...death does not have a set day in and clock for someone who can't make a choice them selves like the animal.

As I sit here and look at my four cats, ages 8,7,5, and 2, sleeping peacefully, it hurts my heart in a bad way that someday I'll probably be standing where you are and it will be the most painful thing I'll ever have to do. They aren't just pets to me, they're my kids; they've grown up with me, and they've gotten me through a lot of dark spots in my life. I am so very sorry for your loss. </3

i know exactly how hard and sad that had to be for u and ur family...i had to do that as well when my moms cat passed away..she couldnt do it so i was there with him and held him and talked to him rt up until the end...he was more than a cat he was my brother who was with us for almost 18 yrs...im sorry for ur loss....ur video was a nice loving tribute...thank u for sharing...and once again so sorry...i can tell u loved ur kitty very very much...take care and God bless

We cannot empathize with the other animals, so how do we know they are not thinking, "What the heck are we doing here?" The other pets are certainly not whimpering and putting their paws on Callie at the point of death. This whole spectacle only serves Callie's owner despite the possibility that the other animals don't give a damn what is happening.

@RK831 obviously pets haven't got any notion of "death" and "life", but they still feel it when another pet they used to live with is missing, just like they miss you when you're out and you leave them at home. Maybe being there wasn't imprtant for them, even though I doubt they'll forget her. But you know, maybe it was a bit of a relief for Callie, not only for her owner. She didn't spend her last moments in the coldness of a vet practice, but surrounded with love... You can't do much better.

i lost my collie, ladd to pancreatic cancer. he was only 4. i was in high school at the time, i came home to find him not eating or drinking. he would go hide in my parents bathroom. i went to the store, got little turkey basters and had to give him water by hand. i took him to the vet, and when the vet took a blood sample, the blood turned a merky yellow... my heart sank. he ended up being put down within hours... it was very hard. he was my buddy. im really sorry about your cat = (

@ArdenMooreKnowsPets: I know how it feels like to loose a valuable pet. A few years ago my cat stoli escaped from the house when my mom had her girls night. He got hit by a car after he escaped from the house that night, I cried for ever, i was 9 at the time. If theres one thing out out of the many things i've learned from your series is your emotional strength and kindness and compassion towards all of your pets. Im glad I found this series because it really touched me. Thank you.

I know how you feel i've been there three times with my pets. Each time we were short on money though so we couldnt afford to put them to sleep. I sat through there pain with them for two days I didnt even get to sleep. I'm only 14 now and i've got many more [et deaths to go through but thats nothing to the hapiness we had and will have

I'm so sorry for your loss. I had a 17-year-old dog who had to be put down about a month before Callie died. She didn't have any sickness, but she just aged a lot , and she started crying in pain, so I knew it was time. Here's a thought that I had after we came home: Your other pets are there for you. If you have other pets, which you do, just know that they love Callie and they are there to help you through the tough times. I still have 2 cats to keep me company. R.I.P Callie.

We will see and feel the pain of our animal friends, move heaven and earth to help them, but in the end we will let them go with love, peace, and dignity.
But when it comes to our loved ones and even ourselves, we insist on holding onto a life that is nothing but pain, indignity, and suffering.
Death comes to all who live. We cannot stop it. What we can stop is fearing what we must all experience.

My kitty now has just gotten the horrible diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. I am keeping him home with me until I see he is suffering. Then I too, will give him peace by helping him over to the other side to be reunited with his brother.
You're a loving mother to your babies... something everyone should strive to be.

I cried so much I thought I'd run out of tears, even as I write this, the tears are falling. I feel your pain hun. I have a dog, two cats and two rabbits and I dread the day they die. If I ever had to euthanise any of them, I'd fall apart. You're very brave and obviously a responsible, and loving, owner. Callie is beautiful!And she was lucky to be surrounded by her loved ones.
My cat wasn't that lucky,we brought him to the vet in the morning leaving him there thinking the vet would only check what's wrong with him when he discovered 2 massive tumors in his intestines :( he called us if he should wake him up again from his anasthesia but we decided not to bring him back and let him wait in pain till we're there.I think about it everyday and wish i could've been with him :(

I had a 20-year-old cat die in my arms a bit more than a year ago and her 21 1/4 year-old sister was lost to Lymphoma last week. Our doc first injects a small amount of pre-surgical sedative which allows them to just drift off into a very gentle sleep and after a few minutes, he injects the phenobarbitol. Really beautiful way to put her to sleep. Surrounded with family. I think it's amazing that the a vet can allow you to bring your other pets so they can say goodbye and understand what happened to their friend.
My dad had to put my cat to sleep a few weeks ago, I wish I could've been there for him. He was 17 and when I moved out he became so lonely that he cried all over the neighbourhood. So we had to let him go, we couldn't give him away because nobody wants a 17 year old cat.
