  • Yeah, he sure is right about wanting more and hitting that ceiling. I wish I felt the fulfillment of God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit more often than I do. It seems like it only happens after deep deep depression, because that's when I starving enough to cry and plead for it.

  • @TxTechAirRAID no need to fulfill your lack of self-esteem or degrade your overflow of estrogen by bashing a man of God ... Grow up

  • This guy is obviously a little bitch

  • @TxTechAirRAID if you don't like the video or the person that don't watch. but there really is no need for the rude comments.

  • his wife is way too hot for him, seeing as how this guy probably cries after weak sex.

  • @TxTechAirRAID Piss off, troll.

  • @mooney137 Are you the matt chandler groupie club president?

  • this guy sounds super jealous of cool people

  • @TxTechAirRAID No he sounds like hes just talking about a universal human condition that people try to fill with things that never will do what they claim. Not sure where jealousy plays into the conversation.

  • can someone tell me where he cussed cause i didnt hear nothing bad and if someone tells me it was cause he said what the hell that doesnt really count first hell is real second he was talking as a third person explaining the thought a person has whn they see such magazines may GOD KEEP blessing him his sermons are good all about God and gettin saved as it should be

  • what the hell? did he just cuss?

  • It kills me how judgmental God's people have become. I am a Christian who is sick and tired of "Christians" who would rather judge their brother for using a word they don't like than applaud and encourage him for delivering a wonderful, Jesus-centered message. This man, on a regular basis, teaches people the gospel, and those who claim to be in his Family are judging him because they disagree. Grow up! Love your brother in Jesus, and stop judging him! And Matt Chandler, well done!

  • Now is the time to worship and get in the word of God. Now is the time to know Jesus while he may be found. Why do i sense in the near future Christianity & the proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ will cost us our very lives here in USA.

The world is changing so fast.

In India, China, Iran, Saudi Arabia, some parts of Sudan and Nigeria etc...Many people risk their lives to be Christians.

  • @changeishere2008 I think you'll find that 2000 yrs of christianity hasn't given us much to celebrate. Nor much hope that it holds any answers for the future.

So now is the time to ditch it! Now is the time to shed belief in Iron Age mythology and see the world for what it is: wonderful, having almost endless possibility - but not magical!

No miracles, no gods, no souls, no hell, and no heaven.

    Peace on earth.

  • @StrumstickJoe

I use to be in the world. But When I encounterd Jesus my life changed. Now I long to be with Jesus in heaven. Where there is no war, hunger, hate, sadness, mean people, poverty, sickness, greed, division, injustice, malice, selfisheness, pride etc etc these world problems will not be a concern in heaven. I will be at peace there. Jesus is Lord.

    God bless you!!!!

  • @changeishere2008 I will never encounter jesus. And from the reports I've read, that can only be a good thing!

Read his entire canon of actions and sayings, and you will find they are the ramblings of a lunatic. (eg he told you to hate your father and mother. Yes he did! He told you to give everything away to the poor and follow him without any thought for the morrow)

Your delighted anticipation of mystical heaven devalues this life.

You think as a terrorist thinks.

  • Read this folks!

This is just a sample of the words of wisdom and morality you can find in your book: Deut 25:11-12 Genesis 38:8-10 Deut 21:18-21 Ex 35:2 Lev 20:13 Isaiah 13:13-16 Exodus 21:20-21 1 Tim 2:11-12 Col 3:22-23 Luke 14:26 Deut 22:13-21 Isaiah 40:8

    Now try explaining.

Don't just believe the stuff that fits your view of the world - that is deceitful.

    Peace on earth

  • I wish Matt hadn't used that word. There is no mature, wise reason to use a curse word in a sermon. And Christians, please don't defend the mistakes of Christian leaders, but urge them on to sanctification. It is not our job to talk like the world so that they like us (which Matt is not often guilty of), but to preach the gospel so that apart from the Holy Spirit they'll hate us (Which is what Matt usually does).

  • @Carinitube1

'Hell' isn't a curse word where I'm from -- just remember that this video is going farther than just a couple of computer screens somewhere in North America.

  • Hell-a-va good sermon.

  • If you are without sin then cast the first stone.Really. You are so self righteous that all you got out of that sermon was that he said HELL? Well guess what, Hell is a real word and we will all be going there if we dont shape up. Get over yourself. And might I add curse words were not all bad but MAN hence sin caused words to be "cursed". And really who think Hell is acurse word anyway. Hell is so over-rated as a curse word anyway. LOL

  • Bodily exercise profits little but godliness is profitable unto all things. It does however profit, though little. The absence of sin is flesh, flesh perfect and you still are separated from God.

  • lol @ caring about him using the word hell.. some of you christians are ridiculous and need to take the cape off..

  • Why would we wince at the word hell or any other word? Why would we act like that word hurts us? As Christians, are we so clean that a four letter word causes us reel back in pain but doesn't effect non-christians? Please! Get off your high horse and listen to more Matt Chandler. Does one think that you're wincing or refraining from using the word hell is going to encourage someone to walk up to you and say, " I've noticed you don't cus and it hurts you everytime you hear it. Tell me......

  • At least he is not a hypocrite who will not use a bit vulgair language on stage but afterwards he will swear as much as he can.

We all have sin. But most of us Christians will look like we are sinless bu we have got secret sins. You tell me which is worse.

    God bless you all,

    Ritsaart

  • Odd to me how some people are more preoccupied with the fact that he said the word hell than the message he was getting across itself.

  • @itube2208 AMEN!!!

  • I do like the message but I must say.. The problem with his usage of 'hell' is this: it disrupts the flow of an otherwise spiritual message. If your response was, 'what? Did he just say that? That's perfectly healthy. If you disregarded it, that is cause for concern. One truly in Christ would have winced at it and questioned it. Those who didn't mind... It's not a total travesty that Chandler used it.. But it has no place coming from the lips of one behind a pulpit in a whimsical manner.

  • @sicstyl that sounds really religious

  • @landonv123

Um.. This is a faith based comment section..

  • Did he just say "What the hell are we talking about here?" at 2:55 or so?

  • You're right, he did. I can recall Mark Driscoll saying it on one occasion too.

  • @ MHSDC:

Yes he did. Now I ask: why does it matter if he did say "hell"?

  • This is 3 and a half minutes from the message. The rest of the video could be full of scripture and we wouldn't know it. I have seen him use scripture in other videos.

  • Wow. do some research. I just listen to him at catalyst and he use the word of God really well, and better than most pastors. Sorta hard to judge him from a 3min clip don't you think?

  • yeah, first impression.. my bad!!

  • have you heard any of his sermons??? He constantly uses scripture to back up his points. He says all the time that he preaches "exegetically" meaning He takes a scripture and makes that the foundation of his sermon rather than using random scripture to prove a point. preaching exegetically is not the only way to do it of course, i was just using this as an example to say that he most definitely uses scripture.

  • listen to his sermon called God saves........ and I will except your apology.

  • yeah bro thanks i looked for the sermon here on youTube but couldn't find it =[

I encourage you though, to search for "Paul Washer weeping for the souls who are deceived".. it is a STRONG message, I warn you =o

  • it's a 3:37 minute video..

you could tell he wasnt finished

  • yeap, I noticed that..

  • Ask Marilyn Monroe... That's an interesting analogy.

  • did he say, "what the hell are we talking about here" at 2:58?!!?

  • That's what I am wondering.

  • sounds like it. IMHO it doesn't matter.

  • who cares?

  • Great speaker of the truth... God's word

  • Chandler ( and mark driscoll for that) are great young gospel proclaiming preachers, they like to reach out being culturally relevent and also like to preach deep sermons,so to grasp what they are saying you need to listen to their whole semons (both of which post them free on their church web sites) this is a great clip but many of the clips of these men of God show what they are illustrating out of the context of the sermon a little.thats all i want to say,if you disagree veiw in full context

  • I don't think Chandler is saying that God is not in control, or sovereign over evil.

I think he's using "out of control" as an expression, not to say that God isn't in control, but that sin, as a rebellion against God, has disrupted the harmony that the world had before man rebelled.

As far as the whole "free will" and "robots" argument goes...

I would say - No, we aren't robots... anymore than Hamlet was a robot to Shakespear, or that Frodo is a robot to Tolkein.

  • "Because of Adam everything got spun out of control"

Wouldn't have, or didn't God foresee that Adam would sin? Or am I just confused..

  • God foresaw the Fall, because he ordained it. Adam's sin was necessary so that Christ would be glorified as the Saviour of us sinners. The center of God's history is the cross. Everything else serves this purpose.

  • Don't worry that gets a lot of people, but consider this...

adam and eve were made in God's image, NOT PERFECT, but in His image. so now look at it from this point of view, if they weren't perfect then they could fall to temptation. now the free will comes into play.

it's irrelevant that God knew it was going to happen (as far as right then) because He gave them free will. if He stopped them then He would not be true to His own creation and that would just make us robots...

    any clearer?

  • Oh Goodness, yes! That's something I can understand! Thank you very much!

  • lol good ship lolipop

  • Yeah, I have not listened to Matt Chandler before, but I slip up with words at times and I know we are all weak. God bless him

  • im not trying to pass judgement, but im just curious but did he say "what the hell we talking about at 2:58 ?

  • Ya -- He did -- but this is such a powerful message, I am willing to totally disregard that. This is as real as you can get from the pulpit....solid Biblical doctrine. Praise the Lord!!!

  • He sure did. On another video he talks about being convicted of his snarkiness as well. It is unintentionally contextual to what he saying which is interesting.

  • Comment removed

  • i think it's funny that one word rather than an entire message will make us wonder about somebody. and what he said fits anyway. he was talking about se being on every magazing cover, which it is, and that kind of perversion came from HELL, so, rightfully said I believe!

  • lets pray more each day to our blessed Lord and Savior! amen!

  • Ya know... I let some trivial things slide. He may have slipped in his language, or not. I don't really care. The message is valid. What I do know is that it is certainly a challange to get in front of a congregation and preach. And then to have your message video-posted and scrutenized over and over by people who ar not willing to take that risk. I give him a "mulligan" on his use of "What the hell".

  • chandler is incredible subscribe to his podcast and listen to his sermons through luke..

i'm slightly addicted.. hope its not a bad thing ;)

  • hahaha "surgically enhance that mug...." LOL!! I love this guy!

  • wow I haven't heard a Chandler sermon in a looong time...he's still amazing! Such an anointed man.

  • He has a very evolved message. Older and obsolete Christian ideas are extinct in his message. The better message has survived and been given new life. Evolution in preaching.

  • Matt has brought Christianity back into the young adults lives like I haven't seen in decades ( thats how old I am )My 20 something kids Love how he shares the gospel and brings it home! AWESOME !

  • Wow this guy is awesome!!! I cant wait to start going to his church when i move to Texas....

haha and i love it how he said "what the hell"

  • I just entered Highland Village Tx in the browser and I got this. My family moved to Highland Village in 1977. I have thought how great it would be to move back...NO. This is now there! That town has gone to pot. Nothing but trendy crap! Let's keep up with the Jones'.

  • Not judging but does he say the h*** word at 2:25???

  • The only word even close to hell at 2:25 is "well". What were you listening to?

  • yes, he does...in reference to the article in "Field and Stream" magazine..."what the h*** are we talkin' about..."

  • Yes, he does say, "hell." Nothing wrong with it.

  • Actually, there is. Colossians 3:8-

But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these"f rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.

In that context, I definitely consider hell a filthy word. He is a good preacher though.

  • I would have to invoke Romans 14 here. "To the one who thinks something is unclean, to him it is."

Personally, I see no "filth" in "hell" so used.

I should probably say too that the speech codes here in Colossians don't seem to jibe with a close reading of the Prophets, who said some "filthy" things. A ready example: "Filthy rags" in Isaiah was actually "discarded menstrual rags," which calls up a rather nasty image: think "used tampons" and you're closer to the real thing. Shock speech.

  • In this instance as in all, I think we need to go by God's standard not ours. I of course don't know what His standards are, but I do know that they are very high. And even if we were to go by society's standards, it is a bad word (they still say it). But my main problem is, when it is said that context, it makes Hell a not so real place. Just like we say holy crap, we don't really mean that the crap is holy, it is just an expression to us. Hell is not an expression or an idea, it is a place.

  • I realize I'm roughly 4 months late to this conversation, but I find it interesting 'cause I've been thinking about this issue alot.

What it all comes down to is "what the hell" is societal slang, and considered vulgar in some circles. I would have to agree wit socrhet26, Romans 14 does apply here, because it is a "gray area", its not a biblical moral issue. Heres an example, I wouldn't say "crap" or even "crud" around my grandparents cause they may not like it- does that make it wrong? No.

  • But overall, I would encourage anyone watching this to please not get hung up on so trivial of an issue. Whether you think its wrong or not is your prerogative, but since it is not a biblical black and white issue, please don't reduce this message down to arguing the trifles of our beliefs.

  • people who don't believe in gosh will go to heck.... by golly

  • @socrhet26 I see what you are saying and I thought that too, but the word that describes eternal torment to be used in a manner like "what the hell is your problem," seems to me not to be used that way. I am not dogmatic about it, but I simply think the word should always be used with a sense of solemnity (for me anyways). God Bless. That being said, I will not hold it against anyone.

  • I used to go listen to Matt at Grace Bible Study in Abilene TX all the time. God has used this man in a great way for many years. It is good to see he is still ministering as strong as ever.
