Get it straight. That cummins had a fully built tranny with a manual valvebody. Huge turbo and injectors ect.. He started in 4x4 off the line at probly 20psi.. No duh it won. But that viper could of done better.

there are only two reasons why diesels are slow: turbo lag and weight
you can eliminate turbo lag in a set race and if you plan accordingly you can strip the truck of as much weight as possible
also its hard to say a duramax is a diesel just a side comment

@3hree6ix The Cummins 6BT is fantastic. I swapped one into my '78 Bronco. Check out my channel. It's turned up some, and will smoke the 35" tires at 20 mph, and it averages 20-22 mpg. Building it was definitely worth the effort.
One last thing dyno numbers are rwhp and rwtq, a rough estimation is fwhp - 18%, so roughly my truck is at 450fwhp and 1000fwtq, and someone will say "well look at all that stuff from the 06, we're talking about engine power not drivetrain. The trans, t-case, and axles dont have a damn think to do with how powerful the engine is. The only modifications that cost any money were the turbo, and exhaust period.
And I know someone is going to try to poke holes in my rant, well here's the specs on my truck, 1997 12v cummins, stock p7100 injection pump, afc tuned, starwheel adjusted, fuel plate removed, HE351CW turbo out of a 2006 cummins pushing 42psi, G56 6 speed manual out of the same 2006, nv271 t-case, custom drivelines, Dana 80 rear with 4.10s and a Dana 60 front, custom 4 corner air bag suspension in track with the 4 link, 4" downpipe to 5" to 6" black stacks. Still think my numbers are wrong?
DieselPower and check out the sled puller Wild 2 he's pushing just over 2000hp with a STOCK crank, and there are plenty of people out there with a cummins with 600-1000+hp with engines that have 200-500k miles on them. The first major overhaul for a cummins is 350k. I personally have a 12v Cummins in my 1988 chevy, with a minor turbo upgrade (500 bucks) the last time I had it on the dyno it was at 377hp 822tq, for 500 bucks and free mods you cant do that with any other engine thats 14 years old.
The cummins engine weighs 1100lbs alone. All you people that are complaining about the modifications to the truck, think about it?? that car was atleast 50000, the truck 30000 brand new, the guy with the cummins has far less than 20000 invested. twins 3-5k, top end: o-ringed, studded, cam and springs 3k, trans 5k max. And To everyone saying that with that many modifications the engine wont last, your idots. The stock bottom end will hold 800hp+, think im lying? Pick up the latest copy of
First of all yes the viper is a nice car, but over all the cummins is the best period. lets lay down some facts shall we? Stock vs stock the viper would have him no question, but the viper is a 500hp stock car while the cummins stock is 245hp, thats half. Even if we got the hp ratings even the viper would still have him because of weight ratios, 3000lbs vs 7000lbs twice as much, so to compete the truck would have to have twice the horsepower, that is a pretty incredible feat. besides the engine

So let's go with the Venom 1000 viper instead for the TT's, upgrade the cams, and blow some nitrous through the system...same results...right?....right?
Show the time for the Viper or otherwise this is nothing more then a holeshot victory. Look at reaction times, viper=2.38(looks like) and truck= .657. Put someone in the Viper that actually knows how to drive. Viper didnt hit gas until around the 60 ft mark. @lawlbiker it gets alot more than 5-10 mpg, this isn't a built gas powered motor. It's a turbo charged Diesel, diesel is 10x more efficient, I've seen a Cummins put down 1079 HP on the dyno and still get 21-23 MPG's highway, and he runs 11 second quarter miles.

@TransAmRob They have not produced them yet as they are still being tested. AND the 4.2L V6 is not the only motor that is being tested, their 5.6L V8 is also being tested. Which will be available for both the durango and Ram 1500, which puts out 325 Hp and 500 lb-ft of torque. @spydergs07 obviously you don't see the mods on the the diesel. a viper isn't even fast. its a luxury car. more then speed. sure its been around and is highly respected. but every car in the world has its match. the truck has huge mods to it. highest also allows for take off. and with it might being 4 wheel drive it gives full power to the tires. you fail to see that the viper legitly got beat. if u listen to the viper. the rpm was at full throttle. the truck was just flat out faster.

@3hree6ix The Cummins 6BT is fantastic. I swapped one into my '78 Bronco. Check out my channel. It's turned up some, and will smoke the 35" tires at 20 mph, and it averages 20-22 mpg. Building it was definitely worth the effort.

One last thing dyno numbers are rwhp and rwtq, a rough estimation is fwhp - 18%, so roughly my truck is at 450fwhp and 1000fwtq, and someone will say "well look at all that stuff from the 06, we're talking about engine power not drivetrain. The trans, t-case, and axles dont have a damn think to do with how powerful the engine is. The only modifications that cost any money were the turbo, and exhaust period.

And I know someone is going to try to poke holes in my rant, well here's the specs on my truck, 1997 12v cummins, stock p7100 injection pump, afc tuned, starwheel adjusted, fuel plate removed, HE351CW turbo out of a 2006 cummins pushing 42psi, G56 6 speed manual out of the same 2006, nv271 t-case, custom drivelines, Dana 80 rear with 4.10s and a Dana 60 front, custom 4 corner air bag suspension in track with the 4 link, 4" downpipe to 5" to 6" black stacks. Still think my numbers are wrong?

DieselPower and check out the sled puller Wild 2 he's pushing just over 2000hp with a STOCK crank, and there are plenty of people out there with a cummins with 600-1000+hp with engines that have 200-500k miles on them. The first major overhaul for a cummins is 350k. I personally have a 12v Cummins in my 1988 chevy, with a minor turbo upgrade (500 bucks) the last time I had it on the dyno it was at 377hp 822tq, for 500 bucks and free mods you cant do that with any other engine thats 14 years old.

First of all yes the viper is a nice car, but over all the cummins is the best period. lets lay down some facts shall we? Stock vs stock the viper would have him no question, but the viper is a 500hp stock car while the cummins stock is 245hp, thats half. Even if we got the hp ratings even the viper would still have him because of weight ratios, 3000lbs vs 7000lbs twice as much, so to compete the truck would have to have twice the horsepower, that is a pretty incredible feat. besides the engine

Show the time for the Viper or otherwise this is nothing more then a holeshot victory. Look at reaction times, viper=2.38(looks like) and truck= .657. Put someone in the Viper that actually knows how to drive. Viper didnt hit gas until around the 60 ft mark. Sure, trucks imprssive but nothing more i hate is when people post this crap and only show half the story. Yes, you beat him down the track but what was his time? With decent driver, vipers can run mid to low 11's easliy all day long.
