  • If you add some overdrive and use a wah-wah with this pedal you can get a dubstep sound from your guitar.

  • WOOOP PORNO FOR PYROS!

  • Would be an alright demo

But it's a blue box demo and there is no fucking Rowland S Howard

Were you alright when you made this Andy?

  • If You Want Me To Stay!

  • What song on 3.40?

  • what is true bypass

  • @TehSxeNerd When the pedals plugged in and not on, your guitar signal will still get to your amp

  • @meimyself55 not at all

  • 2:12 sounds like someone farting seven nation army lol

  • Every now and again I think of selling my Blue Box. Then I hear it or watch videos like this and decide against it.

  • i want to shake the man's hand who created this pedal.

  • Andy what would the settings be to get the fool in the rain tone?

  • what song is that from the beginning of the video??

  • I only bought this pedal so I could annoy the shit out of my bandmates by repeatedly playing the Super Mario Theme between songs.

  • much cooler than the EHX multiplexer.

  • it sounds like old Nintendo videogame music

  • @acefrehley813 man, idk, i think it sounds more like Atari

  • Junk

  • 1:56 sounds like SharpMZ800 sound synth. <3

  • suena a sountrack de mario bros!

  • The only thing thats not selling it for me is that it doesn't have an effects out. I play a EH Octave Multiplexer and that in stereo all kinds of justice!

  • Sounds like this pedal would be great for playing Neil Young's hey hey my my

  • What power chord are you using??? Please respond I am thinking about getting one.

  • 2:40 No fun, my babe...

  • it reminds me of pit fall

  • love that pedal!

  • Sounds like shit to me. Indeed unique.

  • @CamilleDeveveraux ... More like a fart!

  • I guess it isn't an Ox Fuzz.

  • 1:25 to a lesser extent sounded like the "Demon Cleaner" riff by Kyuss, but in a different key

  • its trully a uniuque pedal

  • No "Fool In The Rain"?

  • If you want me to stay??? ANDY YOU ROCK BRO

is there any song you cant play?

  • Hey Andy, What amp are you using this awesome pedal with?

  • @kaptainkool101 he tells you before he starts playing cleanly

  • 1:95 I have heard this line before and from where I can not remember. Please help. This is serious bizzniss

  • @AdamSewell

Do you mean at 1:59? It is "If You Want Me To Stay" by Sly and the Family Stone.

  • sounds like NES

  • Can this get me a sound like the beginning of "Trampled Under Foot" by Zeppelin, or should I go for something else like the EHX Micro Synth?

  • kind of reminds me with the white stripes

  • @arxsastrowardoyo well he did play a white stripes song

  • if I have a zvex fuzz factory, which is a pedal that must be first in the chain, and the blue box, that has an an octave component, where should I put the mxr blue box? will it tracks well being after the fuzz factory?

  • im sorry but pedal sounds horrid to me....

  • @ihaveaverybadcold That's why most of us want it :)

  • @MrTimothyWatts Totally, 100% agree!

  • @ihaveaverybadcold Yeah that's kinda the point.:)

  • can anyone help me out? I've got enough for this or a big muff with tone wicker. Which one is is better???

  • @redsox1024 If you want to simulate synth noises or just get weird tones get this. If you just want a fuzz pedal I suggest investing in an NYC Big Muff (the Tone Wicker's alright, but the original Big Muff cannot be touched tone-wise).

  • @jdawg1692 What Electro-Harmonix is selling now is by no means an "original" Big Muff.

  • I love mine, easy for 8-bit covers while the rest is tuning up and turning the right knob suddenly turns it into this amazing fuzz pedal!!

  • Comment removed

  • think maybe combining this with a muff or any other fuzz/distortion would allow it to sustain longer??

  • I just got one of those, and it sounds crazy, but if I don't put the output knob all the way up, there is a noticeable drop in volume when I switch it on. Is this an issue of this thing or mine is defective?

  • @alexisramirez79 Turn the output knob up, the output is the volume of the pedal, the lower the output dial, the quieter the signal coming out of it will be. :)

  • Imagine an E-chord on 1 step down tuning. All the f***ing bass in the note!!!

  • sounds like your a little stuffed up there Andy.

  • 3:20 what song is that?

  • @joakoPRIMUS dont hold me to it, but I think its cherub rock by smashing pumpkins

  • Does this work well on a bass?

  • THIS IS AN AMAZING PEDAL, NOW IS THERE A WAY TO CONTROL THE QUANTITY OF FUZZ ON THE SIGNAL?!

  • No fun! my babe, no fun.

  • Yeah!! Seven Nation Army, i love you Andy [no homo :P]

  • can you play without the octave

  • @Angelos11111998 no lol buy a fuzz pedal in that case (: The mxr fuzz is very good too

  • @Angelos11111998

    nope.

  • how much would a blue box with the script logo go for

also does anyone know when they stopped making them

  • this thing is sweet

  • i started using this nasty box on guitar... for me is just WAY too much... although i am now using it on my wurlitzer, on my viscount organ and sometimes on some synths... it can make the wurlitzer sound AMAZING!

is nice to have this laying around on the studio as an extra tool, sometimes is cool to through a strange glitchy organ solo... the fuzz without octave sound is a pretty cool sounding option as well

  • what song is he playing from 1:45 to 2:05

  • @TheTrent08 It sounds like Sly and the Family Stone - If You Want Me to Stay. :)

  • Sounds like some 8-bit video game! :D I really want this to just mess around with.

  • Cool! I want one so I can play fool in the rain:)

  • so, ive been experimenting, and when you use this in tandem with a compressor its much much better

  • so cool. must have.

  • very good sound !....

  • just got this guy but i don't know where to put it in my effects signal. someone help.

  • @MichaelD8393 first thing, unless you have a fuzz factory. if ya have a fuzz factory, put it first then the blue box.

  • @fruitbatrepublic thanks but what's a fuzz factory

  • Whats is that riff at 2:12

  • @MrLifeisez White stripes. 7 nation army or something.....

  • What is the song at 2:17 i can't remember?

  • How well would this work with an Epi Les Paul custom and a Fender Frontman 25R? I want to start working with some effects pedals and any advice on others would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  • Okay, the Black Label Society song Dr. Octavia, is played using an octave, who knows which pedal Zakk uses?

  • just found my new pedal :D

  • i have this.

  • whats the difference between this blue box and the electro harmonix MICRO POG?

  • STOOGES

  • HAHA was that Tahitian Moon at the beginning?

  • wats the last song called??????

  • a seven nation army couldnt hold me back!! woo good stuff PGS!

  • Can you say Atari Missile Command?

  • PLEASE wich song is that 3:20?

  • can you do the fender blender reissue fuzz?

  • It sounds too soft. I placed after it (not before!) "The Dunlop Fuzz-JH-1", and the sound become more harsh and drive

  • If You Want Me To Stay- Red Hot Chili Peppers when he starts the bass line. :DDD love that song

  • Would this sound good with a bass guitar? If i'm looking for a synthesized muse-y kind of tone?

  • Hey, a Digitech Bass synth wah is probbly better for muse bass stuff, Chris (Muse Bassist) had one at one point, and my friend has one aswell and mixed with a big muff off somesort or the fuzz from the blue box (no octave) sounds great . . . . also the Digitech Bsw can be set so it dosnt sound like a "Funk Box" and just a low filtered "fuzzish" bass sound. Very good for Muse songs, Hysteria, time is running out. ect

  • Is that Smashing Pumpkins at the ending? ;D

  • @DarkAngelEU It sounds like he's trying to play 'Rocket' but doesn't know the right notes.

  • it sounds like an arcade game

  • how come the logo is different on this model, on other models it is the classic logo

  • thats one bad ass pedal!!!

  • It seems like I'm playing Super Mario again!

  • Waddup, Jack White. Haha.

  • Hello Andy, is there any difference between the script logo and the newer logo pedals?

  • @dutybugg MXR pedals with a script logo are from the very beginnings of MXR in the 70's. Yes, there are differences in circuits and sounds. I couldn't tell you the difference with this pedal but the script MXR Phase 90 has less mids and speeds not as quick as the newer block logo.

    -PGS Crew

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos Sly and the Familly Stone ! if you want me to stay ! Andy !! You're the man... I stay on your channel Yeah yeah !!

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos the non-script one seems to track better to my ears, ive got the script one

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos

I know you're not supposed to play a bass through a guitar amp, but do I need a bass amp for this because it's playing bass notes?

  • @mexicanmudslide4500 You don't need a bass amp, you'll do just fine with a guitar amp...But of course a bass amp will give you more bottom

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos If you are looking for the smoother more liquid script sound and not the blocked phase shift in a newer MXR pedal, try the MXR Phase 90 EVH model. It is fluid and the closest you'll get to an actual vintage pedal. I swear by it.

  • @dutybugg I have an origional srcipt logo phase 100. To me it sounds thicker and warmer than the new ones. Is it worth the extra cash? Im not sure, it depends hoy crazy you are about tone.

  • No fool in the rain?

  • I used it the other night and the brown note made this old drunk guy in the pub poop his pants

  • What's the song at 3:40?

  • Does the lower octave hurt the amp?

  • @Ombrenuit There is no way it can hurt your amp! The only 2 things you can hurt with this pedal are 1.- the speakers of your amp at great volumes and 2.- your ears with such a low bottom end it achieves. ATT. Fer

  • sounds like a broken synthesizer. is that a good thing for fuzz boxes? I can never tell when fuzz sounds "good"

  • The first .22 lick is Porno for Pyrus- Taihishain Moon. Dave Navarro wrote that.

  • I think I hear some sly and the family stone

  • can this be used just as a fuzz?, and can it be used to replicate a clean bass?

  • sounds like a video game

  • I can't believe he didn't play fool in the rain......

  • Fool in the rain solo!!!! Jimmy Page Rock _\m/

  • @Xehanort86 THATS WHAT I WAS THINKING!!!! just couldnt remember the damm song! thanks

  • the nintendo box

  • It's having sex with my mind.

  • i just baught this pedal, sounds crazy... sure needs a bit of tweeking in order to find a nice spot... i am having problremas with my chain... i use this one, a fender blender, an LPB1, a mastotron and a graphic fuzz... mastotron and graphic fuzz are main dirt boxxes... but i dont really know where i should place the blender and the blue box... before or after the two other fuzzes?... the boost is always first in the chain in order to get more gain instead of more volume...

  • @mynmyself - Anything with an octave component should come first in the chain. Otherwise your tracking is likely to be erratic. We generally like boost after fuzz, at the end of the chain, but whatever works. Experimentation is good.

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos thanks mates! i supposed that.... i do prefer my boost before my fuzz it makes things nastier although i havent had time for experimenting as i should (i recently baught the blue box and the booster)... i also use a 105q bass wah pedal and a ibanez wh10 v2 and a line6 dl4, experimenting is sure good... thanks for the rapid answer!

  • @mynmyself - Word. Have fun!

    -PGS Video Dept.

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos My chain is a tuner - wah - blue box - OD. Should the blue box be before the wah?

  • No Fool In The Rain? I thought for sure that's what you'd play.

  • This pedal is awesome! Is there a comparable pedal to this one? Something maybe a step above the blue box? Thanks

  • oh... now i need a demo of the fender blender... will that ever exist Proguys?

  • @mynmyself - We'll probably get to that eventually.

  • tony Iommi used one of these on the paranoid solo

  • No he didn't, MXR didn't even exist back then. He used a Ring Modulator @ToastedOmond

  • 7 Nation Army!!!!

  • when u have turned the blend knob completely to the left can u play chords then`?

  • @fruhotchiliman The octave is monophonic, you can try chords but it will sound glitchy. With the blend fully clockwise, you can play chords and get a fuzz sound.

    PGS

  • this is the only MXR pedal I DON'T like

  • if your looking for a cheap but great octaver pedal search-testing my behringer multifx octaver

  • was this used in jimmy page's fool in the rain solo? also, anywhere i can get it cheap second hand online somewhere?

    peace

    ray

  • i have an old version of this pedal with huge knobs and cursive writing : Dits awsome

  • What song is that at 1:47?

  • I bought this pedal today, it's interesting to mess with... but not my cup of tea (and I'm into Hendrix and Muse!). I rather mess around with my Zvex Fuzz :).

  • where would this pedal go on my pedal chain? first?

  • help, acid flashback!

  • if you want me to stay. il be around today:)

  • shit... this fucks up my bcr108... in fact, this fucks up MANY nasty fuzzes that cost much more!.. although not a pedal for evryone... but yes for me!

  • Hah the bass line part sounds like the bass line on "If you want me to stay" from the RHCP. I dunno if it was on purpose but it did ring a bell

  • If you want me to stay! and Seven Nation Army! Cool. I really like this pedal. When i tried it out it sounded better than the Micro Pog (its just an opinion).

  • i wanna play this on a 7 string >:D

  • Egads, that sounds like total shyte.

  • white stripes friend =]

  • NO FUN!!

  • I have to say that this sounds a bit like turning on the neck pickup and rolling down the tone to 0, two octaves down.

  • What is the riff at 2:12

  • @haloshredder

    Seven Nation Army

  • you serious :D ...

look up white stripes on google :)

  • Muse uses this pedal on their song MK Ultra!

  • i think page uses this on the no quarter solo

  • Jimmy Page used this pedal on Fool In The Rain

  • i have one from 1977 :)

  • Got one in the post. Imagine this with an Korg MS10...ouch!

  • What is the SLy and The Family Stone song he plays the riff from!!!!!

  • if you want me to stay

  • @jackevans If you want me to stay

  • Someone please comment. does anyone else think that this pedal (with some compression and wah) could be used to replicate the lead guitar tone in SWLABR?

if anyone knows how to get that effect please tell me. thanks so much :)

  • Cranked Marshall with Les Paul tone knob rolled back, pretty simple.

  • thanks so much! i was discussing with my friend we had ideas along the lines of classic fuzz, extreme compression and things that would cost ££££ of pounds :) thanks again :)

  • Wow, awesome. I have to try one.

  • i suppose that as it gives two octaves and not one you gotta play REALLY high to sound somehow comprehensive, right? i imagine that when playing on the low E string it gotta sound really nasty and dificult to understand... i am thinking on this or the fender blender, diffeent ideas, but i want a new and strange distortion, something different...

  • Get a good distortion/fuzz, then use a POG 2.

  • seven nation army lol 2:12-2:28

  • what exactly is going on from 0:260:31? i think it's great, actually

  • listen to mk ultra by muse to hear it in it's full glory

  • Who throws down a Sly & the Family Stone bass line on an effin BLUE BOX?!! hahaha.

    You ProGuitarShop guys RULE!!

  • No fun!

  • Atari sound! Enduro!! awesome!

  • want it
