In the Russian army culture of carrying сапок too ancient.

"Portyanki" are more convenient for a boot than socks. They rub a leg less often. Though, probably, from it it is looked wild.

Not necessarily. In the US I once was working with a man who discovered on his own the benefits of footwrapping. He was walking around with some rags sticking out of his rubber boots and nobody was making a big deal out of it, when I asked about it I was told that he had a sore foot.

Если режешь сам, то ширину смотри по длине стопы (что бы, когда закручиваешь - получался конус на пальцах). На видео пользовался вафельным полотенцем - чуток не хватило, а сколько длина в см - не знаю
