  • 1996/BA 118,escadron de reconnaissance Gascogne,j'y etais !!!

  • Dassault Mirage IVA, A for Atomic, was a strategic bomber designed for carrying a 90 kt (boosted?) fission bomb as an semi-external. The range of the aircraft was insuffisant to return to its base. The pilot must eject in enemy country.

  • @denilsson31

Well, depends on which enemy you attack. Anyway, I think it was able to do inflight refuelling. Anyway, it was able to engage enemies within a radius of 3500 km. If a Miarge 2000 took of from Orange Air Base, he could have wiped out Moskau, (in fact, 500 kilometers after Moskau), every african state directly under the Sahara, or Iceland and return to its base. But he couldn't attack the USA (1000km too far, but they were no enemies right?)

  • Who put a rocket up your ass!!

  • This was the cen, tral piece of our nuclear dissuasion

  • the Mirage IVs are so cool-looking.

  • was he trying to bun the runway ???

  • 111111111111111111111111

  • фиксики до тv abrcbrb.........sssssssssssssss

  • (_8(I) omg thats homer simpson

  • thats a fantastic looking aeroplane!

is that the french equivalent of the tsr2?

  • @eatthisvr6 no, it's more an equivalent of a starfighter but very reliable

  • @bingofioul

Hmm. The starfighter was an interceptor, this is a strategic bomber. If I had to find an equivalence it would be more like the B-58 Hustler or the B-1B Lancer (but with a lower payload than the Lancer)

  • @chenoir Starfighter in Ramstein air force base were dedicated to nuclear strike

  • Original

  • @RemoRa2826 LOL. The Mirage IV was designed in the 50's for strategic bombing. When the french finally mastered long-range and intercontinental missiles, the remaining Mirage IV's were converted for high-speed, high- alititude reconnaissance missions. Today, reco missions are performed by UAV's and satellites and this cool bird has been decomissioned.

  • @kirkjamestkirk That's also why my habu has been cancelled :( i still miss that chick

  • @kirkjamestkirk Yea, but my altime fav is the SR71 BlackBird [All american xD]

  • @RemoRa2826 Are you stupid ? Mirage IV is a 50 years old bomber and recon aircraft.. He's retired now.. We have Rafale and Mirage 2000 ;)

  • @RemoRa2826 wtf do you say ?!

  • way cool

  • French jets equipped with reverse. You never know when you need to surrender!

  • @eezy1972 the italians need reverse (when they change sides) the french need white flags if you want to be like that about it

  • france has a military?

  • @PreppersTactics Do you have a brain ;-)) !

  • @PreppersTactics united states has a brain ?

  • @PreppersTactics france has aircraft carriers and planes that fly from them we (uk) now have neither and it cost us a fortune in libya!!!

  • lol French Army...

  • I love it too... (ex B-52 mechanic here...)

  • does it always use RATO to take off?

  • Su-47 still the best!

  • @HELERsx Comparing Mirage IV with SU-47 its like compare Mig 31 with F-15 Active or X-31 Vector, that have no logic...

But yes SU-47 its a nice aircraft and anyway Mirage IV too its a nice aircraft.

    Nice video !!

  • @F22DarkRaptor I didnt compare anything. I only said that the Berkut is still the best Jet. In my opinion it doenst exist a better plane. Best flight characteristic ever!

  • @HELERsx Yep if we forget secret airplane the SU-47 are the best but not yet in combat and only a prototypel i hope, if the russian made a aircraft from this prototyte that it will be a nice aircraft =)

  • That thing is basically a missile with a person inside it...

  • Giver shit!

  • Allez la FRANCE !!

  • Why do you need JATO rockets on this plane???

  • @dertyKurty It's a very heavy plane

  • @dertyKurty I think, becasue it was used as a QR nuclear deterrent so it needs to get into the ASAP...

  • @dertyKurty because the 2 motors were underpowered

  • @DarkVador60 like your head

  • @dertyKurty The delta wing configuration has high wing loading. without rocket assist and while heavily loaded, it'll need miles of runway to take off which mean's it'll not be able to operate from small airbases. US and Russia supersonic bombers (B1 and TU-160) all has variable wing configuration to solve this problem.

  • at 0:05 what are those boosters?

  • Payload of white flags and cheese.

  • NOS Equipped

  • nice JATO

  • i remember these getting shot down in the falklands and gulf war.

    awsome plane.

  • @dimwitsixtytwelve The Argentinians used Mirage IIIs, the Iraqies used Mirage F1s, neither used the Mirage IV.

  • @TheophilusPWildbeest hey lets not kid ourselves, same fusealage etc mainly.

    but yeah great plane

  • @dimwitsixtytwelve Partly right, the Mirage III and the F1 used the same fus, but the IV is twice the size. Respect from one aviation nut to another.

  • We used these in the South African Air Force before the newbies fucked it up, they are something special to fly!

  • @12joe341 No Mirage IV in south african air force!

  • @syntaxerror9 True story, no Mirage 1v in the SAAF, though we did have Mirage F1's, it was all a long time ago in another world.

  • Of course, you wave a german flag and the pilots of it will instantly surrender and bail out.

  • The Best French Aircraft I have EVER SEEN BAD ASS!!!!

  • I remember being on holiday in Southern France, in a farmhouse in a place called Castlejaloux where Mirages flew overhead - night and day!! It was in a valley where the house was and no traffic noise and the closest house was a 10 minute walk away - - the echo from these things was terrific!! Also at night when these flew around bloody hell you know about them!!!

  • nyan mirage :P

  • so how come you french needed the usa to take out all the threats in libya ???? and again we help you but you will not help use this is y i dont get it nato

  • holy Angle of Attack Batman!!!!!

  • makes u wonder, do france need short range bombers?

  • beauty and beast perfectly in one..what a mashine

  • I saw - and heard - a JATO take off of a Mirage IV when I was stationed at BA115 Orange Base Aérienne. That was in the early 90's when there was still an EB Escadron de Bombardement in Orange. These were fantastic planes.

  • Awesome bomber ! Very classy.

  • que diferencia hay entre m3 y4?

  • @hernan267

Mirage 3: 1 engine, light fighter

Mirage 4: 2 engines: heawy long range high speed nuclear bomber , later only long range "reconnaissance photo"...

  • fantastic aircraft

  • RATO?

  • I always thought the Mirages were beautiful planes--and great performance for the time they were developed. I wonder what this bird could do if it had been upgraded with new engines and avionics?

  • the most beautifull and "class" Aircraft that I saw in my live and in real conditions and the same "take off" as in this video (i'm in the French Air Force since 22 years now)

  • @cumbas Je confirme :D

  • @cumbas no you arent

  • @hunterTS4

    ????? LOL

But yes you are... a little shit :-)

  • @hunterTS4

And you are right, I'm not in the FAF since 22 years nowadays... but 23 years ^^

  • @cumbas

Are you guys trained to surrender?

  • @4tehlulz9000

Not need VIETNAM does not belong to us...

  • @4tehlulz9000 Could ask yu the same... but running away is something different I guess...

    So stop the polemic bullshit!

  • @4tehlulz9000 Americans are so F**G ignorant of their own history. Do you really think a peasant army alone beat the best army in the world at the time? Check your history...

  • @cumbas have you ever flown the mirage D or C variants?

  • At least I can still fly this on HAWX 2.

  • @Polaris688 They are all out of service ! They used them for reconnaisance mission but the satellites replaced them now.

  • @kirkjamestkirk

and the "Mirage 2000N" for the missions of the "Nuclear Power Air Force"

  • 200 knots landing approach. Not a novices plane!

  • @Chuckjagermeister Wimp... LoL

    Q:)
