I have read 1 of her books and they are amazing ,but I didnt know that it was based on her life!If you want or need to read 1 of her books read On The Banks Of Plum Creek.
Criminey! It has been well over a year and half and no word on the release. Dean is not responding to any of the fans via e-mail, Facebook, Twitter or snail mail as to the release on this and it is driving me nuts. I get teased like all LIW fans with these breif little preview videos and all we want as are all waiting w baited breath is to actually have the dvd in our hands and in our machines to watch over and over! OH LORD HOW LONG HOW LONG HOW LONG HOW LONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nobody is more shocked than I am that our Laura Ingalls Wilder documentary has taken so long to reach the market. My most sincere apologies. When its available I will let you and everyone else know.
They make South Dakota look like someone would WANT to live there. But anyone in there right mind wouldn't WANT to live there. Winters last forever, and summers are hot and muggy, I can't imagine how muggy the summers were for Laura, especially with no AC. I suppose she could've gone swimming alot in the creek, though.
@babylover0990 I'm amazed at how severe the weather is in South Dakota...but its also a very dramatic, beautiful place because of the weather. I'm always in awe of the place and the hearty spirit of those who live there.
well, I Iive in South Dakota, that is why I said those things about it, because I live here and it is not as beautiful as everyone makes it sound. At least right now it isn't. After a trip to the city, though, South Dakota does look beutiful. Sometime I want to fly over head and take a picture of South Dakota because I think it looks really neat. It looks like a giant quilt spread out because of the fields; Each field is a quilt block. One day is a nice hot summer day the next is winter.
@babylover0990 South Dakota is a great place to live! :) Sure the winter are long and the summers are hot and muggy, but DeSmet is a great little town. Laura lived here and we take pride in that. The DeSmet school district is one of the best in the area. Once you live here a while you really ger used to the weather changes and how dramatic they can be. One day its 80 degrees the next is 30 or 40. Its a GREAT place to live!
@saraas2016 once I've lived here awhile? 20 years long enough? I am used to it....just I don't like it. Fall is the most beautiful with all the fields of gold... :) but any other season is beautiful only at the beginning of it; it changes drastically.I do like SD for driving, no cliffs to drive down and it is easy to pass people on the flat plains:) The trees are realy pretty in the winter when they are covered in snow, but When Laura lived here there were no trees and the winters were harder
@babylover0990 The Winters and Summers are the same in the South As well, maybe not as bad as winters but the summers in the south were then and now worse than in the North.
Dean, you are tirelessly devoted to the lives of Laura and Almanzo; telling their true stories. I've msg'd you about using your material for homeschooling, it was a while ago and under another username Anyway, well done, I'm Canadian and I agree with all the former cast mem's....Little House is more popular now than when on the air. Knowing the REAL stories is just as important though. God bless! :)
Sara...when the show is ready for release all the cast members will get their DVDs through the Ingalls Homestead. I'm sorry this has taken so long, but we think the wait will be worth it.
I am so ready for this DVD to come out. Grew up with Little House on the Prairie. Been to homestead days in Beatrice Nebraska and was able to meet some of the characters from that series.
@REDSTONECREEK Thank you very much for attending our recent screening of Little House on the Prairie: The Legacy of Laura Ingalls Wilder at the South Dakota Art Museum. I really love South Dakota.
If you are bored you can check out some of my slideshows. Most of the pictures were taken within 30 miles of DeSmet. Not professional quality but I got lucky on a few of them.
@Cmy5luvs Yes it is now December 2010 but the program, which is under review by a number of distributors, is not ready to be sold yet. We really thought it would be ready sooner. Now realistically we're looking at 2nd Qtr 2011. The good news is that the subject doesn't go out of fashion.More information will be available here when the program is ready to go. Thank you for your patience.
This both looks and sounds wonderful and interesting. When this documentary is going to be released, is it going to be released to North American (region 1) customers, or do you plan to release this documentary as a region 0 DVD (or something like that)? The only reason why I am asking is becauae I as a European Laura Ingalls Wilder and Little House on the Prairie fan wonder if I'll be able to watch that documentary on my European region 2 DVD player?
Can hardly wait to see the whole thing. Great to see the variety of places shot. That really is Pepin at the beginning and that's the Ingalls Homestead as they are driving away. I think some of that was Living History Farms in Des Moines also. It looks like their 1840s farm. Love the Harvey Dunn paintings and the animations. They were really a great part of the Farmer boy program.
Dean, I appreciate the value of your time, and dedication of sharing with us this amazing work, and most of all of showing children of this generation important lessons to learn through life and the "Legacy of Laura Ingalls Wilder." A masterpiece that I don't wanna miss watching!!!
I think this is a very interesting documentary. From an educational perspective, this work is amazing. A piece of art for children to know about the life, and the work of one of the most remarkable icons of our literature. Moreover, this documental is a extraordinary example of how life was in times where the concept of family values were much different from what it is today
this was posted on my friend's birthday and i was named after Laura!
