  • this was posted on my friend's birthday and i was named after Laura!

  • LHOTP is still my favorite show to this day.

  • her books are fantastic and thats a fact

  • Laura is a true hero, for so many reasons. Hope the video comes out soon ;o)

  • This is a tease! Where can I watch the whole thing?

  • I have read 1 of her books and they are amazing ,but I didnt know that it was based on her life!If you want or need to read 1 of her books read On The Banks Of Plum Creek.

  • yes SD is a bitch climate wise, i wish i wasnt here

  • Criminey! It has been well over a year and half and no word on the release. Dean is not responding to any of the fans via e-mail, Facebook, Twitter or snail mail as to the release on this and it is driving me nuts. I get teased like all LIW fans with these breif little preview videos and all we want as are all waiting w baited breath is to actually have the dvd in our hands and in our machines to watch over and over! OH LORD HOW LONG HOW LONG HOW LONG HOW LONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @vidgal07

Nobody is more shocked than I am that our Laura Ingalls Wilder documentary has taken so long to reach the market. My most sincere apologies. When its available I will let you and everyone else know.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

    Sincerely,

    Dean

  • @DeanBLegacy im now checking it out

  • @DeanBLegacy any word yet??

  • ...eh hem..... 2nd Quarter, 2011...? *hint* *cringe* I can't TAKE this!!!! <-- kidding

...but on a serious note: Any word on how much longer for the documentary?

  • It is July 2011, when is this going to be released?

  • We are doing this thing at school where you pick a person to be and I am her

  • They make South Dakota look like someone would WANT to live there. But anyone in there right mind wouldn't WANT to live there. Winters last forever, and summers are hot and muggy, I can't imagine how muggy the summers were for Laura, especially with no AC. I suppose she could've gone swimming alot in the creek, though.

  • @babylover0990 I'm amazed at how severe the weather is in South Dakota...but its also a very dramatic, beautiful place because of the weather. I'm always in awe of the place and the hearty spirit of those who live there.

  • well, I Iive in South Dakota, that is why I said those things about it, because I live here and it is not as beautiful as everyone makes it sound. At least right now it isn't. After a trip to the city, though, South Dakota does look beutiful. Sometime I want to fly over head and take a picture of South Dakota because I think it looks really neat. It looks like a giant quilt spread out because of the fields; Each field is a quilt block. One day is a nice hot summer day the next is winter.

  • @babylover0990 South Dakota is a great place to live! :) Sure the winter are long and the summers are hot and muggy, but DeSmet is a great little town. Laura lived here and we take pride in that. The DeSmet school district is one of the best in the area. Once you live here a while you really ger used to the weather changes and how dramatic they can be. One day its 80 degrees the next is 30 or 40. Its a GREAT place to live!

  • @saraas2016 once I've lived here awhile? 20 years long enough? I am used to it....just I don't like it. Fall is the most beautiful with all the fields of gold... :) but any other season is beautiful only at the beginning of it; it changes drastically.I do like SD for driving, no cliffs to drive down and it is easy to pass people on the flat plains:) The trees are realy pretty in the winter when they are covered in snow, but When Laura lived here there were no trees and the winters were harder

  • @babylover0990 Its not that bad!! I live in DeSmet and I am very proud to say i was born and raised in the GREAT state of South Dakota!

  • @babylover0990 The Winters and Summers are the same in the South As well, maybe not as bad as winters but the summers in the south were then and now worse than in the North.

  • Any news about an eventual (international) release of this DVD?

  • @andersbo87 We are in the midst of finalizing a domestic distribution agreement. No news on international.

  • very good!!!

  • Dean, you are tirelessly devoted to the lives of Laura and Almanzo; telling their true stories. I've msg'd you about using your material for homeschooling, it was a while ago and under another username Anyway, well done, I'm Canadian and I agree with all the former cast mem's....Little House is more popular now than when on the air. Knowing the REAL stories is just as important though. God bless! :)

  • Sara...how are you? You're a good runner.

  • @DeanBLegacy haha thanks i started track this year so i have became an even better runner

  • I am the little girl runing through the cornfield at the very beginning!

  • @saraas2016 neat!

  • @saraas2016 Yes you are and you did a wonderful job. Thank you...

    Dean

  • @DeanBLegacy When will we get our copy of this?

    <3 Sara

  • @saraas2016

Sara...when the show is ready for release all the cast members will get their DVDs through the Ingalls Homestead. I'm sorry this has taken so long, but we think the wait will be worth it.

    Hope you're well...

    Dean

  • @saraas2016 As soon as the program is ready for release all cast members will get their DVDs through the Ingalls Homestead.

    Thanks,

    Dean

  • Im in this! :)

  • I am so ready for this DVD to come out. Grew up with Little House on the Prairie. Been to homestead days in Beatrice Nebraska and was able to meet some of the characters from that series.

  • it is janureanry 2011 is this on dvd can i bye it

  • I recently attended a screening and it was excellent. Good work and thanks for making it. Cant wait for the Harvey Dunn Documentary!

  • @REDSTONECREEK Thank you very much for attending our recent screening of Little House on the Prairie: The Legacy of Laura Ingalls Wilder at the South Dakota Art Museum. I really love South Dakota.

    Dean B.

  • If you are bored you can check out some of my slideshows. Most of the pictures were taken within 30 miles of DeSmet. Not professional quality but I got lucky on a few of them.

  • ...Never out of fashion. This impatient heart of mine awaits. Thank you for the update and happy holidays to all!

  • Hello. It is now late November 2010 and I'm not able to find this DVD. Is it by chance out yet?

  • @Cmy5luvs Yes it is now December 2010 but the program, which is under review by a number of distributors, is not ready to be sold yet. We really thought it would be ready sooner. Now realistically we're looking at 2nd Qtr 2011. The good news is that the subject doesn't go out of fashion.More information will be available here when the program is ready to go. Thank you for your patience.

    Happy Holidays.

    Dean B.

  • This both looks and sounds wonderful and interesting. When this documentary is going to be released, is it going to be released to North American (region 1) customers, or do you plan to release this documentary as a region 0 DVD (or something like that)? The only reason why I am asking is becauae I as a European Laura Ingalls Wilder and Little House on the Prairie fan wonder if I'll be able to watch that documentary on my European region 2 DVD player?

  • This looks really good I cant wait to see it

  • I can't find where to get the entire video....can someone help?

  • Where can I purchase this DVD?

  • Great story. Laura and Rose. two strong women who refused to take no for an answer!

  • how can I get this vidieo?

  • Good job, Dean!

I love the use of the scenery. Lovely shots.

  • Can hardly wait to see the whole thing. Great to see the variety of places shot. That really is Pepin at the beginning and that's the Ingalls Homestead as they are driving away. I think some of that was Living History Farms in Des Moines also. It looks like their 1840s farm. Love the Harvey Dunn paintings and the animations. They were really a great part of the Farmer boy program.

  • Make plans to meet Dean Butler this summer and pick up an autographed copy of his DVD documentaries.

Here are a few of his scheduled appearances

May 15, 2010 Holy Family School, Le Roy, NY

July 23-24, 2010 Heritage Hills Historical Park, Green Bay, WI

August 7-8, 2010 Genese Country Village & Museum, Mumford, NY
