  • Imac 27 inch i7 2,8 2011 model without SSD boots up within 30 secs. so is it worth to use SSD? Gimme a break plse!

  • Nice. It's an incredible rip off but it is a really fucking nice bit of kit no doubt.

  • Good day! nice video~

i have some questions about the ssd's

where do you install de OS.. in HD or SSD??

And so with other programs.. do you install them in HD or SSD in order to run faster??

So what do you do exctly with your 1TB HD??

    thanks!

  • @dudwls86 I'll chime in here, you install OS and Applications on your SSD. The 1TB is used for large iTunes and iPhoto libraries, Video libraries, etc.

  • Actually, this is not a fucking test.

  • Should I get this or wait until the next one???

  • @KryptoWolf Don't bother buying a mac, they are overpriced rubbish.

  • but they are so much better in every point. You pay for what you get

  • @GILLESGILLES2 Yeah sure, in the dreamland of stupid consumers..

  • @mozdonny Bull crap!! You get what you pay for!! just try one and you will see!!!

  • @ForTuxinet This is IT mate, it is about logic and mathmatics. There is no sorcery in play!

I've tried the OS itself, it was a locked Linux distro and by the way, the thing does not even have a graphically managable event log! Not like I'd need it, but that is all about the ease of use..

As for the hardware, it is physics in play, and the mega corps that make the shit in your mac, also make the shit that I can buy, standalone!

  • why didn't you launch all apps. simultaneously

    you bitch?

  • My one is 26 seconds and it has no SSD

  • your unbearable

  • What type of SSD drive should I buy for my newer iMac SATA 2 or 3?

  • @FHSU2007 3

  • How much RAM does it have?

  • With a computer this good, there should be Nothing, it can't do.

  • @joshascott this is nowhere near "good". especially the GPU. imac GPU = TRASH

  • It's clear how much of a benefit the SSD is! I'm just wondering whether to get an i5 or i7.

  • "launched up on the other monitor" #fail

  • @koDiacc How is that a fail?

  • hey please put one more apple monitor to your imac thanks

  • Thumbs up if you see the video starting again at 2:46 ;)

  • i've seen an imac 27 inch core 2 duo 3.06 Ghz old one with old graphics but booted really fast i opened around 11 apps at once.iMovie,iDvd,garageband,iPhoto,iWeb,adressbook, photobooth, mail, itunes and some other stuff and opened in 12 seconds! stupid fast! imagine doin g this on the machine of the video!

  • fuck thats fast for a boot up time. Wish MY computer was that fast!

  • I just don't understand. Can anyone explain why my MacBook Air (C2Duo 1.4, SSD 64 Gb) boots in 15 sec?! Almost the time the apple logo appears here. Why?! I don't want an iMac now, why is it that slower? Maybe more diskap space, more apps = longer boot time?

  • 24.4 seconds

  • My MacMini4.1 with Intel SSD is faster 21 seconds !

  • @youcansmellthefear That's what I thought, smaller drive = faster booting. 64 Gb Air - complete boot in 15 seconds.

  • I'm hoping to get one of these at the end of this week, maybe this or the Macbook Air or Pro.. My current PC turns on in 15 minutes.

  • @AcousticFender44 after 13 minutes it would be like this for me... "Aww so this is what heaven is like, hey Bob, hey Sue"

  • Funny thing I have an iMac at the high school that go to.I've used it couple times, and I officially love Macs now, especially the iMac.It's very fast,it works great, and the screen I must say looks amazing. It gets you to webpages in a split second. The screen again looks amazing, especially compared to an LCD.I'm sure how good the screen looks is partially due to the fact that it's an LED monitor.I love macs.

  • dose any1 no where i can see a video of a imac 27 core i7 with the best specs being bench marked??

  • i wanted one but i dont have $2000

  • @MegaShooter2011 it is not that expensive, i think you can buy a imac 21.5 for 1250$

  • kinda unfair... you had to boot up 2 displays at 2560x1440 res EACH.....

  • the SSD drive is doing nothing until 15 seconds into the boot.

  • Bought a new PC, this one boots in about 40 seconds :D

  • the timer should start after the bios load and not at the push of power button

  • my iMac 21.5 inch 1tb 3.2ghz boots up in 30sec.....

  • @SMGDUDE3017

My Envy 17 Push Button Start Up with application and all-----> 22sec... from bios onwards --->18sec

  • @Jerverio you know that (>) is greater than right?

  • SSD should be Standard in every mac, HDDs are probably the bottleneck of the hole system...

  • thats pretty slow thought it would be 10 seconds no more is the whole OS installed on the ssd or not?

  • My first build (im 14) is going to be with an msi 460 gtx cyclone, an amd phenom ii x6 1055t (OCed to 4ghz), an ocz 60gb ssd, 8gb ram and a western digital 1tb 6gb/s

You know what i think? :D

I think, ITS GOING TO BE AWESOME

  • Aint that horrible that the screen is so glossy? Sure it is cool but you cant see anything when there is light coming from the window.

  • @Syderer The Screen gets extremly bright, so its just a problem if the sun shines directly on you. But thats just like with the iPad, iPhone, MacBook ...

  • Use sleep - problem solved

  • it may be a big ssd but if the flash slow it's shit

  • That screen is to big... You'd literally have to turn left and right to get the mouse from one end to the other...

  • What type of SSD chipsets does MAC use? Do they even release that info. My guess its a cheaper chipset, no Kingston or Corsair SSD that you would buy for a PC. Those have boot times of a few seconds on Windows and can reach 200MB/s write and write times...i dont think these are quite that fast.

Regardless, your still going to overprice on a mac.

For $2000, you can build a much better SSD PC than will outperform any mac and still run all your favourite programs and games.

  • That weird "What's up everyone" that's repeated at every video is enough to kill a buffalo.

  • Lol my iMac is fast than that :)

  • Lol jon it looks like you are in your pj's :D

  • can someone answer me? i installed a ssd and hdd in my mid 2010 imac i5 and how do i make osx install items on my hdd not my ssd. (just want os and system files and some apps i use most on it)

  • @moneyyyize yes, the new imacs are able to fit 2 hard drives in the same machine. 1 is a desktop size drive, usually a standard drive, and the second is a laptop sized hard drive where the SSD goes.

  • Whats funny is my late 2009 base model imac (for $1200) boots in about 30 seconds, filled with apps, and desktop full. You paid so much to have that SSD put in, and a faster processor, still only 7 second difference.

  • but will it blend?

  • Jonny in pyjamas

  • Do you need to select the SSD for boot-ups and opening applications, and if so, could you please inform me how... I am getting a new iMac very soon.

  • cant wait for the price of SSD to go down

  • Hey Jon u said "all of these are on the SSD" what does that mean? you ca choose what you want?

  • my imac bounced itunes 4x and finally launched. imac duo 2.8 4g ram so shouldn't suck, but in comparison it does

  • @44pullups he probably has the i7 8gb solid state

  • Can you make a full review PLZZ?!? :)

  • can i upgrade my imac 2009 HDD to a ssd?

  • Jon, you wrote Intel Core i& instead of i7

    better correct that :P

  • ledgend

  • i have a i5core with 60gb ssd, en my bootime is 19second! you start firfox in 3second my firefox isent installed on the ssd, but on my 1.5tb western digital, en when i klik firefox to open, is in one second!! mac sucs big times

  • what company is the ssd from?

  • @charliestech123 Apple i think

  • @charliestech123 Hitatchi

  • gaming performance,, on a mac.. people people photoshop is not a game.

( i do know some games have been sliced down so they will work on mac thanks to steam. )

for gaming i just stick to my alienware, i like mac's as work pc's ,, but anytime i hear mac and gaming it makes my skin crawl

  • I invested in a SSD recently to replace the HDD in my netbook that I have in addition to my old iMac. I would like to go back to a apple laptop later on when I have more money [Probably after OS X Lion comes out]. So do you guys think it will be possible for me replace HDD of the new macbook [when i get it] with the SSD that I installed in my netbook [it's SATA SSD]? Is it easy to install OS X on a third party SSD?

  • Its a screen and a MIRROR!!!

  • Can you please provide more details about this machine like: Speed,Ram,SSD name and model etc... Thanks ... John Lewis

  • @johnlewis718 intel i5 quad core processor. SSD by hitachi. 8GB DDR3 Ram. This is a 2010 model iMac by Apple inc. They only come in so many builds. This is the 2nd to most expensive.

  • OMFG 2T, almost enough to hold ur mom

  • even jon has bloopers

  • @smithlovesps3 dont say that...

  • OH JON4LAKERS

ACCEPT JESUS CHRIST AS YOUR SAVIOUR OR SPEND ETERNITY WITH YOUR WORM WHERE THE FIRE IS NOT QUENCHED

  • Correct me if I'm wrong but the write speed of those general SSD's are awfully worse than the HDD. I thought about replacing my HDD for a SSD (17 inch i7 MBP) but the truly high performances SSD I've found were VERY xpensive.

Even for general SSD's I think the performance gain(and I mean ONLY the READ transfer rate) doesn't worth the it's prices

  • hey jon. are you gonna put your mac on the wall or are you gonna leave it on the desk?

cause i'm getting 1 and wanna know weather it take up half of the desk!

  • @alexxjones1 lol on the wall??

  • You know I was looking over at apple.com and look at imac sections it looks like they are not selling the core i7 iMac anymore. I don't know if is a glitch or something.

  • @jart122 you have to customize it/special order it from apples website when you select it

  • @Capesports4

You obviously have never looked around at the SSD market because there are slow SSDs and fast SSDs; low-end and high-end.

  • i dont think he doesn't want to do this. He pulled out his phone like "god this is shit"

  • I don't think $800 justifies a mere 256GB SSD Upgrade. The performance difference would have to be @ least three times as fast to justify that upgrade. OWC has a better deal, if you need to put an SSD on an iMac :)

  • i'll take your old mac computer :)

  • lol very funny at the last clip

  • Nice, my brother's laptop with an SSD boots up in about 15-20 seconds too.

  • i bet u can fry eggs on the back of this

  • @simon199418

i bet you can't. back is aluminium

  • @simon199418 actually it runs cool enough you dont even need multiple vents. It has a single venting port along the top that usually does not even have to be run.

  • @simon199418 it runs warm indeed you can purchase istat menus 3 wich works for tweaking the fan rpm's i have 2 profiles for the 27inch imac wich by the way i purchased a fully maxed out unit with 16gb of ram yeah it gets hot lol max rpm for rendering cool n quit for when i'm doing audio work or monitoring sound

  • @djandywdotcom you can try smcfancontrol but i had no luck with it finding the 3 fan inside the imac there is 3 fans Optical Drive Fan Hard Drive Fan Cpu fan istat menus detected all 3 of them :)

  • @n91guru ya im saying its pointless, hes not going to comment you and answer.. as you can see he never did.. im right your wrong get the fuck outta here haha

  • @907ride but he did reply to me... so ur wrong... and u should go get fucked.... oh wait.. ur dad's already on that...

  • @n91guru oh hey good one bro must of been hard coming up with something so original... i dont see a reply anywhere

  • @907ride try using the search function dip shit.... he literally responded right after me, (its on page 2 if your too stupid to realize)

  • :P my shitty computer takes like 15 minutes to start up... im not even exaggerating

  • How is the fan noise from the new iMac? my current HP pc sound like a hair dryer when I use it..

  • @123MARTIN45 I got one, you cant even hear it unless you put your head right up to the vents. Even on processor/video card intensive tasks, the fan doesn't get louder like my old MacBook Pro did.

  • @austinman1995 And cleanup is simple! Just wipe with a cloth moistened with HOLY WATER! It makes my Mac sing HALLELUJAH!

  • HOLY SHIT, THAT WAS FAST, it takes >5 minutes to boot up my mbp

  • Here at my house, we just celebrated a Catholic mass. And we used my MacBook Pro as the altar. We turned water and bread into the blood and flesh. Pretty amazing!

  • The PC where I'm on right now boots up in about 10 minutes lol

  • @robin8110 bs

  • @robin8110 Intel Pentium 2.0GHz dual core Ubuntu bootup takes me about 30 seconds, and the computer cost me $400, three years ago. So yeah I'm not hurtin.

PS; yeah I'm using a PC, a Personal Computer, like everyone else here.

  • @robin8110 mine too.. fuck pcs its all about macs...... fortunately im buying a 27 inch imac with i7 @ 2.93 ghz, 8gb ddr3 1333mhz ram and 5750 1gb gddr5 this week :))))))

  • @robin8110 You mean without turning it off? (:

  • @robin8110 put an SSD in your PC as the primary OS drive

  • thx for the review.and i love the takeouts and the end.

  • I have the same tripod as yours

  • Looked like you were filming your chair from the perspective of the monitor on a dim day. Then when you put the iPhone/handy-timer on camera it blew my mind.

  • I have the exact same iMac =D

  • shouldnt do it with the extra monitor attached

  • thats as about as fast as my Windows 7 on a dual core athlon i bought 1 year ago.

I must admit though Itunes is totally shit its Ishit probably the worst designed software in world, diffcult to use, doesn't allow you to do things like every other Mp3 player on the market, whats more it if you add just one song and sync it it deletes the rest, My hardrive crashed and when i tried to sync it it wiped the ipod, if that was my only machine i would have lost all of my music.

  • @mrwideboy PC is crap! You dont appreciate the genius of itunes. It happens never before on my mac. May be on complicated windows shit! I have tried out windows 7. and it is the greatest garbage since vista! I hate windows!

  • @MrOliver1444 If apple is so great why is apple using PC architure? Every person i speak to says itunes is crap, it's not genious, why can't apple just have a button with add song is that too difficult? no we have to do it the apple way like setting up a playlist because i have too much music to sync it all.

Apple is expensive and restritive stopping half the functionallity you get with other computers.

  • @mrwideboy may be you know the wrong persons. I dont knwo what you really mean with a button to add songs? if you import it from a cd you can choose what you like to have and what not. You can search and the results are clear (not at windows) or you can create a playlist like you said. i didnt get that

  • @mrwideboy you have amazing grammar and spelling.

  • @lsxdashtwo I really couldn't give a toss

  • @mrwideboy In iTunes:

Select your device, go to the settings and check the box that says "Manually manage your music" to drag and drop your music and videos. :)

  • i  apple

  • damn thats fast

  • My old powerbook g4 (2002 model) takes about 1 minute and 10 minutes to boot up. It has a powerpc CPU clocked at 867 mhz and 256 MB of RAM. I think it has 64MB of dedicated video memory. It still works, but it was time for an upgrade. I got an HP laptop. That one boots up in about 15 seconds. It takes 15 more seconds first because it loads a quick navigator if you only need to pull something of the web or your pc. It also uses an i7 CPU clocked at 1.6 ghz.

  • lucky

  • jon i have a question should i get a solid slate drive for when i get a gaming pc ?

  • I love Apple. Period.

  • Must be nice... my 3 year old computer takes about 5 minutes to boot up. Yeah, sounds about right... freakin' technology :(

  • Nice video here great stuff here im glad you went ahead and got the i7 iMac when you were asking us on twitter about it i recommend this. -Sean

  • i have 12 seconds on my linux.. beat this

  • 23 seconds? Meh. I'm getting this speed with my Asus UL30JT + Corsair F60 SSD on windows7. The display is still beastly though.

  • Wow a 27" screen isn't big enough for you? So you need another monitor?

  • This thing is beast

  • Could you speedtest the imac by opening and playin' W.O.W?

  • John. PLEASE Change the intro, it has made it very difficult to watch or enjoy your videos please, stop with the " WHATS UP EVERYBODY JOHN RE....Its very annoying.

  • @ABostonElite its fucking awesome stfu

  • Comment removed

  • twice as fast as my 2 yo core 2 quad w/ segate 7200 rpm 250 gb, nice improvement with a smaller footprint

  • @KMelter True

  • Giveaway $10 itunes giftcard on my channel

  • hi can you do a comparison between the solid state drive and the regular drive so I can see if its worth it to upgrade?

  • So over priced and over rated.

  • I can't believe people who know about computers still buy Macs.

    How embarassing.

Why not just buy a better spec PC AND save yourself approx $250.

  • @Electroguy1 it's mainly for the OS, not the specs although that's important too

  • @Electroguy1 Because we can afford a better machine, space saving and the screen on the 27" is worth over $1000 on it's own so there's no savings when you compare it to a windows machine.

  • @dragngt 'windows machine' I lol'd

  • Bloopers at the end... makes it seem more human, and worth watching all the way through.

  • PC FTW!!!!!!

  • I really don't see the point in buying a mac, it's overpriced and you're just going to run windows 7 on it anyway.

  • lolmac

  • YOU SEE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU GET MARRIED YOU CANT THINK STRAIGHT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • itunes just boots faster on macs, my pc is a quad core amd 955 4gb ram and open itunes slower than a 2gb core 2 duo macbook

  • wtf! 25 seconds? niiiice 8D

  • An awesome tip is to go with the scenes you mess up and then correct them with a comment, gives trolls something to troll about and gives the video some charm xD But bloopers are welcome...

  • my 2.53ghz, mac mini used to boot that fast

  • great video and boot up time was very fast

  • I'd love to see world community grid run on this.

  • Why do u have firefox, when u already have Safari.. ? Im about to by one, but is Firefox better than Safari on a mac ?

  • @UffeDalgas

To get the best of both worlds (FF & Safari) just use Chrome.

Fast as Safari but extendable like Firefox.

  • Mac: Can do anything but games.. THATS why some ppl dont buy it..

  • @UffeDalgas Yeah, but it is slightly getting beter in games. I'm talking about STEAM for the Mac.

  • @UffeDalgas So then you put windows on your mac also and bam you can play windows games!

  • @MrSlartie U can play online normal games on the internet (Safari), but if u wanna download a game u cant on safari (I guess)

  • @UffeDalgas Same in English please? It doesn't matter what browser you use when you download a file.

  • Whaaatttss up everyone.

  • Mac is too limited for me. It's good for those who just want a hassle free computing experience like video editing/browsing internet etc.

  • Dame it , I love Mac

  • My Amiga station boots up in 1 second with a magnetic drive.

  • 1:40 WTF how can it not be a bigger performance difference when you have a quad core vs a dual core and HD vs SSD

  • jon4lakers and SoldierKnowsBest rule!

  • @97EJM

Yeah! Their the first people I go to on YouTube! Its good how they both got/or getting married. Congrats to both you guys!

  • @97EJM how about me?

  • @97EJM RIGHT :D
