But mr marilyn...that young michael jackson is actually one of the lead female vocalists. Remember at this time young teens sung soul...this band were still in their teens when they recorded this album and song. I can't believe that even their hits like Been A Along Time, Impossible and Dream Merchant were sung by eighteen year olds.
Sounds like a really cheesy naff 70's cover group...they've even got a young Michael Jackson voiced kid thrown up in there for good measure,LoL!!The bess parts are the girls parts...sung exquisitely, the harmonies...so tight!!The rest of it?Garbage...
Lead vocalist is Londee Loren, (female) and thats her sound,... check out New Birth "you dont have to be alone", OR "its impossible" and you can hear how she sounds a few years later, Far from just "good measure". The Band is called The Nite Liters, and they have a few hits, one intitled "K-Jee" became such a big hit, they WON a Grammy, you can also watch that on youtube. This band is far from being garbage, and it WAS one of the tightest bands of ALL time,.. Jokes on U!!!
@mw94533 Hey...thank you!!I can totally empathise with your feelings, and i respect you enormously for taking the time to reply with intelligence and with a wealth of information too!!It certainly makes a change from the usual 'knee jerk' responses when you have a differing opinion to the majority!!And as you have backed up your comment so excellently,i will take the time to check your references!!Again, many thanks (no "joke" needed,LoL!!)Love Em,x...
@TheMrMarilyn i can understand your dislike of this version of the classic song (ooh child) done by the new birth, i dont know what your type of music is but if you like music by the stair steps then im sure you will love the music of the NEWBIRTH, they are truly among the greatest of all time(no kidding) and terribly underated
@regvision Sorry...ah wasn't meaning to be derogatory regarding anyone else's musical taste...not at ALL!!Ah guess...that because ah did mah own version of this...which ah believe IS brilliant (and...before THAT comment starts no shit up lol...if you knew meh...you'd know...ah NEVER 'blow mah own trumpet'...or whatever that lame arse saying is LOLol!!)Thank you...for answering with cool logic...and graciousness...iss MUCH appreciated!!x
Dammmmmm ---This song makes me want to get rid of my perm and grow out an afro, go bouncy titty topless, barefooted and smoke that gonja and give out that free love all day lol---shiiiit not in this dammm day and age, fuck THAT lol it too dam many diseases lol Good music can make ya lose ya dam mind lol
Interesting indeed! They put a "Fifth Dimension" spin on it.
It doesnt work at all, but this group always swung for the fence in terms of reworking originals and when they did get a hit, they really knocked it out of the park. So I aint mad at 'em!!!
Wow! Really nice early 70s feel. I was a kid then, but I can tell you it really captures what was good about that era. I love the positive vibe off of this.
I'm so loving this version!
