That's great... I think I'm only at about 300. SOmething about that song just trips me out... the groove with the bend in the guitar before the BIG scream... fuck.
i can't say enough about Meshuggah, they changed music for me forever. they are not the same as a cool new band i am into, they are a fundamental part of how i view music now. i don't just listen to them to enjoy, i listen to them to learn, to explore my sonic boundaries. the same songs continually sound different the more you listen to them. you hear things you never heard before. they sound different from ways they never have before. only music this deep can reward that way.
im down with listening to meshuggah when i do math homework.try it and discover an entirely new dimension to polyrhythms: they expand your consciousness in a way and cause you to think in different ways.
thank god someone appreciates this band as much as me, that's what i love the most, i hate predictable music, just trying to keep your head banging in tempo is hard for a lot of people to do with this band....im a pretty good drummer and it even fools me every now and then! but i love the friction between banging your head in 4/4 against odd time signature....i can't wait to listen to them live!, it will intensify my connection with the rhythm orgies! lol
I could never ever get tired of listening to this song, or any of their songs...if you hear their songs and listen closely (more clearly recorded versions) Meshuggah's songs are full of layers....Meshuggah is so fucking amazing I dont know how they do it!!
The thing I love about this song is that they couldn't play it live for the first 6 months of the ObZen tour. It took them those 6 months to learn how to play this live, with Thomas Haake stating he practically had to relearn the drums to keep that bass pedal up to speed.
Now THAT is being a dedicated musician, these guys get so much respect from me because of that.
I saw it in one of the guitar magazines I buy; they had an interview with Fredrik, asking him about how hard it was to play Bleed lol.
He said he felt sorry for Thomas, because it was WAY harder for him to play completely, because of the insane leg work at the start, and most of the way through the song after that xD lol
I can actually play Bleed all the way through on guitar, I have a 7-string tuned to that low F, if I ever found a way to put a vid of myself on Youtube I'd definitely post it, but yeah point being, it might be hard on guitar but it just takes building up a little muscle. To have to do it on drums, however...OMG the fuckin' leg muscles it must take. Not to mention the coordination, stamina, etc...
Thus why I firmly believe that Tomas Haake is truly a God of drumming.
Yeah xD I can just about play Bleed too, but seeing as I don't have a seven string yet I play it an octave above, so I'm never really gunna post a video, it's just fun to jam on xD
But yeah, for me, it didn't take much time to get the strumming pattern of to speed, but jesus christ, I don't think I could do it on my legs in a million years. My friend who's been drumming for 2 years now has even stated it seems basically impossible =') I don't understand how it's physically possible =')
This vidio makes me want to throe small dogs at large cats and watch them get malled to death, have the cat run over for his crimes witch angers local people who throe remains of dead cats at the drivers car witch makes him throe a hissyfit and shoot them all. He then calms down and contemplates what he's done by listening to every meshuggah song ever made.
LMAO!! You watched John Leajua as MC Vagina too!!! Haven't seen that one in ages. Did you know he rote a song about 2 girls 1 cup? One of the best canadians I know. :d
I was looking at some rap vs metal video a few days ago. Seriously how can you even compare rap to the complexity and ingenuity of this stuff? It's completely beyond most kinds of music in terms of skill.
SRSpOok, you're the moron, good music to me will be bad music to you, there are different preferences and likings between other people, skill may not have anything to do with it, they can be a shitty band but still sound good, depends on your taste
You're a moron actually. I was simply trying to express my opinion and views on music, you're the one who has twisted that into a scenario where I'm trying to assertively project my own musical views onto other people.
You're simply trying to disguise your belligerent nature as an argument against me. You know all the pseudo-metal-head children will look at what you've said and instantly turn on me.
You attacked me in order to try and influence people to attack me as well? I don't care what they listen to as long as they don't reprimand my opinions.
Erm. I'm a massive metalhead. Death metal, black metal, any form of music I can appreciate. Rap does take skill. Rappers like 50 cent, lil wayne and all that mainstream cancer is not a representation of what rap is really about. Listen to the underground stuff. Search Immortal Technique and tell me he has no talent in the stuff he writes. However, I dont listen or like any maistream music, which is probably the only rap you've heard which is why you made such an atrocious remark!
when they're described as technical its more down to the time signatures they use and stuff. and in earlier albums there was a lot more solos, really jazzy style lead guitaring from thordendal
best metal band of any subgenre out there right now....their past recordings are proof enough, but this song seals it....possibly the greatest rhythmic metal feat of all time.

And in all honesty. How well does a cell phone or a digital camera receive audio of this magnitude? It's not fair to judge a performer from that kind of source. What you hear on this youtube video is hardly what was going on the 15th of april in whatever town it was. Not even a fragment. Thanks and bye.
To whoever filmed this. Thank you for standing in a spot where you got decent audio!!! To many shuggah vids where the filmer stood right up front resulting in a lovely wall of noise.
their music kinda gets old to me after a while but they are a sick as shit band, like idk how the hell they can stay that tight live its crazy, 5 starz menuggah
This is the only Obzen song that is triggered live on drums, it's just too fucking insane to play it with exact volume on each bassdrum. Hence the live triggers, it's just an aid so that you can hear the bassdrum a bit better.
Holy fuck. I mean holy fuck. That's absolutely amazing. What's funny too is that this is more technically and intellectually advanced than most classical or jazz music.
You have to be fucking kidding me. I LOVE meshuggah, but more intellectual or technical than jazz or classical? Classical wrote the fucking book on what music theory and intellectual music is, and jazz uses that theory and pushes boundaries constantly. I hope you're kidding because that was one of the most retarded things I've ever read on youtube, and that is saying something.
This is is known as conservatism. Classical and jazz are widely regarded as being the pinnacle of musical expression, thus when a metal band is held up as an intellectual successor (Meshuggah's rhythmic complexity IS without parallel in Western musical tradition) it's met with opposition.
ok that drum beat... is probly my favorite beat. like, its so hard to keep up. and the rythem of the guitar in the song is also amazing. i love it :)
They are the only ones I've EVER heard say "Thank you" to the audiences applause, and seriously, the rest of the more 'mainstream' bands seem so thankless for their fame and don't give a flying fuck about their own music... It makes me sick...
These guys are REAL, and for that, I thank them back.

The only way it is physically possible to do it accurately and up to speed is one of three ways:
1. You are Jesus.
2. You are a machine.
3. You are Tomas Haake.
I don't even know why I made three separate ideas, they're all basically the same thing.
So yeah, your friend is right. It's basically impossible. Oh well, that just sends more worthy praise Meshuggah's way.

I hope you're kidding because that was one of the most retarded things I've ever read on youtube, and that is saying something.

i think their comment was the epitome of retarded. to be honest =D

This is is known as conservatism. Classical and jazz are widely regarded as being the pinnacle of musical expression, thus when a metal band is held up as an intellectual successor (Meshuggah's rhythmic complexity IS without parallel in Western musical tradition) it's met with opposition.

There are so many cool things about this band...
They are the only ones I've EVER heard say "Thank you" to the audiences applause, and seriously, the rest of the more 'mainstream' bands seem so thankless for their fame and don't give a flying fuck about their own music... It makes me sick...
These guys are REAL, and for that, I thank them back.
Keep right on fucking rocking, Meshuggah.
