  • how the hell did that even happen????

  • thats no funny!

  • Mark Webber and Heikki Kovalainen ran into the same way

  • The worst happened to Dan Wheldon at Las Vegas.... may he rest in peace

  • First Backflip no? :p

  • @QeXeQ /watch?v=lTLTz0Mi8a0&feature=related the guy in that video drives away from a backflip, more or less

  • Not at all bad. Just loud as fuck if your the driver.

  • Aerodynamic divergence in action. I can't believe how unstable that car is. It only seemed to change its pitch angle by a couple of degrees and it was gone.

  • Just about the worst music Ive ever heard.

  • i was going to comment saying how is a crash "best" if you get me, but now i know why you put that !!!

  • no the worst wars alex zanardis crash

  • Woulda been a bit scarier had the car dug in when it hit the grass.

  • yeah WAKE UP... System of a down rules!!!!!!

  • neither the best nor the worst

  • he ignited the flux capaciter

  • lmao, thats is nothing as crash...

  • Mario Andretti flip

  • I only like the musik :D

  • A crash like that doesn't surprise me one bit. Those cars are going so fast and they are designed in such a way that the downforce created is enough for them to be able to comfortably race on a racetrack that's been flipped upside-down, or at least that's what I've heard.

  • Chuck Norris lifted that car up

  • Well he should have slowed down.

  • THE MUSIC IS NOT LOUD ENOUGH!!!!

  • That car is invincible =3

  • ***********SHITE MUSIC WARNING**********

  • @BodieLighthouse: Tho' I agree with your sentiments, one minor correction. Greg Moore died at Fontana, not Michigan. Nearly identical tracks, though.

  • whats with the music???

  • Swede Savage '73 500, Bill Vukovich in 55, Stan Fox in '95 But Greg Moore's at Michigan in 99 you just knew. Zanadri's wreck in Germany was sick. those still me the willys

  • @BodieLighthouse moore died at calafornia

  • Stupid title! these people are losing their lives! this is not a top ten best crash shit, this is sad!

  • thats pretty cool. it would have been awesome if he completed the backflip and kept going. the chassis would have been screwed to hell but it would have been pretty cool to see

  • Air Resistance WIN!

  • Wtf He Just Randomly Went Up . This Show You CAN touch he stars

  • pretty nice backflip :D

  • Thats what happens when you believe you can FLY

  • Whats interesting is that Hornish had backed off after the crash ahead of him and slowed considerably before liftoff. I can only imagine that he would have truly made like a cessna if he had been running at 220.

  • attention passengers, there will be turbulence on this flight, please keep your seat belts in the locked position.

  • WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • Wtf He didnt hit anything!

  • Weeeeeeee oh shit this looks like it might hurt, ow.

  • the person exhadurated the title

  • this is just a soft flip have you seen ryan briscoe flip in the catchfence

  • You know if he had landed it, hed be bragging for the rest of his life about being the only man to ever land a backflip in an indy car. No wonder Hornish jumped to nascar

  • wtf its magic or fake ?

    what happend ?

  • SUCKS !

  • Jesus... three letters came out of his mouth right when this happened.

    W T F?!

  • lol D:

  • As he took off, Hornish Jr. is probably thinking: "Oh S***, this is not going to feel very good." I can see why he switched to Nascar. The injury and death rate is a lot less in Stock car racing. Both IRL and NASCAR are great racing sports!

  • @EarthNightIcedWish are you sure thats accurate, i dont know personally but if we compared all open wheel racing verse stock car, it might be surprising

  • Sure it's a bad crash....but he is better off flipping like that than he is smashing into the wall at that speed.

  • hahahaha

    Nice acrobatic skill

  • lol I can hear Hornish just saying "GODDAMNIT" as soon as he went flying.

  • wtf #chucknorris

  • I remember being there that day. The entire place went silent when it happened. Very eerie to say the least. Was glad everyone was ok and able to walk away.

  • I dont get how that car did that

  • @07excitement It looks like to me he hit a piece of derbies from the car that tagged the wall a few seconds earlier. At 230 mph, all it takes is a little bump and air gets underneath the car. Once you get a little breeze under there, the momentum does the rest and you're helplessly along for the ride. The same scenario happens when a Hydroplane hits a wave at the wrong angle, air gets under the boat and it takes off.

  • that would be so cool if he landed on all 4 wheels. looked alot like dario franchitti's wreck at Kentucky in 07 i think

  • stick the landing!

  • @indystang It's Sam Hornish Jr, Rick Mears retired from racing long long before this

  • @NialoF2

This is actually Mario Andretti. He was testing/practicing in this car.

  • @jtm2588

    thats not Andretti.

  • Comment removed

  • @xXTheKidzlerXx

You're correct. Mario's was much worse. I got them mixed up. Just search Mario Andretti flip here on youtube and you'll see it.

  • @jtm2588

    i know i searched it...

  • @NialoF2 why he retired?

  • @masepidesevive because he got old?

  • are you dumb? thats sam hornish

  • wolfy8ty8 is wright that would be coooooooollllllll

  • Swede Savage, Bill Vukovich, and Eddie Sachs all are bad as well, but nothing is as bad as the Gordon Smiley crash

  • This is Sam Hornish Jr in 2003 I think.

  • Imagine the car landed back on all 4 tires and drove away :P

  • senza pezzo

  • Yea once he hit the chunk of debris...all the car did was lift a few inches and thats all it needed for the air to get under him and cause lift off...at that speed..(prob 220) its inevitable

  • lol epic fail. the guy coming out of the pits would've been like "WTF"

  • WTF!? What the hell did it made airlift?

  • i believe that there was either a gearbox or some other sort of large device in the middle of the track that caused this incredible accident

  • its called a blowover. its when the car has too much speed and not enough downforce

  • Ok thanks, so it happens that often, there is even a name for it?

  • actually this was caused by debris on the track, it was very similar to mario andretti's flip here in 2003

  • Good music. Chop Suey.

  • Clearly, you have not seen many IndyCar crashes.
