Absolutely a riot.  I have Burrowing Owls on my property sometimes. Makes me want to buy a digital movie camera.

You do? Yes, get a camera. But first look up "how to make a starter burrow" and try to do that on your property. That way, they can set up a home and have babies. That's when the real fun starts. My videos are juveniles.

Hi there! It was a stoke of luck that they set up home in my back yard. They are wild, I don't "keep" them. lol. These are burrowing owls. They are native to SW Florida. They are the only owls, I believe that are active during the day and live in holes in the ground. I'm sorry if it seemed that I keep them as pets. I don't. I just appreciate them and repect their area.

i know that you dont keep them as pets. i was just wondering if they come to your yard whenever you place an owl nestbox in there. but anyway we dont have them here in Greece, jejeje

They told me to thank you for the compliment. he hehe, I have others, but most aren't to music. Just click on "more from this user". You can see them play fighting, and learning to catch things and try to fly with their "prey". They were only a couple weeks old when I filmed them and I swear they'd go out of their way to catch my attention sometimes. hams.

If you live in an area that has this type of owl, you could perhaps entice them by building a starter burrow. They sometimes will move into it. You could do a search on burrowing owls starter burrows, there's lots of info on line.

I use a zoom lens to take their pictures. The babies were familar with me because I was there as soon as they came out of the burrow. So my friend, we can only enjoy them at their discretion. sorry.
