Small arms do not cause instability, countries like Switzerland that have some of the highest amounts of gun per capita (and in Switzerland's case, mandatory military service and therefore mandatory possession of an assault rifle) are some of the most stable countries in the world.
Also, it is similarly easy to get illegal assault weapons in the US as anywhere else in the world, AKs go as cheap as 100 dollars or so.

God I hope they don't ban cars next. After all more people are killed each year in US auto accidents than by guns. Odd isn't it? Even though there are close to a quarter of a BILLION firearms in the US, and they are designed and purposed for killing, less people die from firearms than from car accidents. Cars are a more efficient means to kill someone.

And when it comes to gun control, I just mean that automatic rifles should not be available to the public for ownership without a higher license for use strictly at an authorized range. I say let ordinary American civilians own firearms if they choose to, but we need more stringent checks regarding psychiatric testing and mental stability. And for people that kill their spouses with a legal firearm, they get death.

Not even 50 years ago you could walk into your local gas station and pick up a rifle and some ammo. You didn't have the problems we have now. Instead, we have an irrational fear of firearms instead of an understanding of how they work, and how to responsibly use them. You're going to have a few people who shouldn't get firearms fall thru the cracks, or even get them on the black...

Where our solution will come from is re-educating the general public in ethical firearm use and safety, and stop the media from frightening them with made up terms such as "spray-fire". The more good guys with guns, the harder it is for a bad guy to get away with what he wants. Used to, a burglar snuck in ur house. Now they barge in cuz they have the gun, not you.

@f35caleb You can be a law abiding citizen and still be mentally unstable. Extra steps for law abiding citizens that are designed to make sure that the buyer stays abiding the law is a good thing. I agree with you on the media part, it is the same with drug education. If we taught the truth, about the benefits and the dangers, then the population would be able to make better decisions. We do need to ensure that there isn't an arms race among the public, but reasonable purchases are good.

the reason why small arms sales are abundant in third world countries is because poor families need something to sell to make some money. If there was an actual government in these places that banned small arms sales while creating some sort of industry to create the jobs the people would be just as happy. It's not their fault that their prime local resource to harvest and sell is assault rifles and RPG's.

Everyone was happy there, they all felt safe. The hosts made it look like a warzone with deadpeople everywhere. If it was sooo bad there will not be anyone out on the street exept corrupt police and gangs killing people. Yet everyone had a smile on their face. And off all the people you interviewed the driver which looked 10 times richer than any of the other locals. What are they talking about. Small arms do not cause instability, countries like Switzerland that have some of the highest amounts of gun per capita (and in Switzerland's case, mandatory military service and therefore mandatory possession of an assault rifle) are some of the most stable countries in the world.
Also, it is similarly easy to get illegal assault weapons in the US as anywhere else in the world, AKs go as cheap as 100 dollars or so.

@Iceberqe well if you knew anything about firearms you would know that is a soviet made RPG7 rocket launcher the only kind of projectile it fires is very large and sticks out the front of the rocket. look it up. In somalia there not advanced enough to make there own weapons they buy weapons from the former soviet union and its satilite nations and china. Also the trigger mechanisim is not the only part of a weapon that needs to work for a gun to work. You have no idea what your talking about.

@hunteraja i know what this is and what kind of a projectile it normally fires. it seems youre the one who knows nothing about whats happening over there. they no longer buy weapons, they copy and build them themselves. just like they do with ammo. gunsmith is one of the few profession there. of course firearms are still imported as the demand is very high.
just google it and inform yourself instead of talking out of your ass. you can even find vids here on yt.
