I know of a related case here in my country a few blocks away from our place ... a group of born-again Christians prayed for this man with illness somewhat like cancer, and before (they thought) this worked before but now they prayed again and it didn't. Hospitals always have chapels and ministers are always willing to be there if you request them. So their argument that they prayed for everything is just not good enough. The case was about common sense, which this mother ignored. I'm actually a little discouraged with the understanding that 25 years, at most, she'll be out again. I would say that the charge of reckless homicide was appropriate than what would be more common of negligent homicide.
