what really pisses me off about the world classic baseball that we USA didn't even take it seriously. We could of beat everybody but most of the best American player didn't play because there were not much money in it. When I went to work the day after USA was eliminated nobody cared. Nobody cared that USA lost in a american game. But I did enjoy the WBC and I'm looking forward the next one

The reason why Japan is dominant in baseball today is already said by espn, its the small play. Bunting the clean up hitter is something americans will never do. We all like home runs, but homeruns are not the win.
Don't forget defensive footwork, positioning, and speed. You'd never see Adam Dunn fielding for either Japan or Korea. Short repetetive motions are something the Japanese and Koreans have mastered to the point where they almost seemed robotic when fielding. The Japanese also hit far more sacrifice flys than they did homeruns.
true, in fact I dont think Japan or Korea would sacrefice Defence and speed for power like Dunn. When that big korean 3rd baseman had an error the manager took him off right away, thats the dicipline that they have. Almost no errors in these kind of games.

Actually that isnt stupid at all, why play in Tokyo dome for all asian teams? because they are close together and Tokyo dome gets the most public out of any other asian country. Moving China, Taiwan, Korea and Japan to say LA just for a elminiation pool is just stupid as stadiums would be empty.
I said one host country, not one stadium. The counties that care did their part to support their team. So my argument is why should the final rounds always be in the U.S. where the locals clearly are more concerned with spring training. If the entire tournament were held in say Korea, Australia, or Latin America, passionate fans would still show up and it would do more of a service to the credibility of the tournament, with the added benefit of not forcing some teams to jump several time zones.
The reason for this is that you cant predict what the final will be. So lets say you set up the final in Japan, but neither japan, korea, china or taiwan made it to the final. Lets say the final was Mexico vs Dominican republic. No one would be there. Why pick LA? it has a huge concentration of Japanese, koreans, Mexicans, Americans...etc. You cant chose a final location in such short notice if thats what you mean.

It was refreshing to see the WBC and baseball being played the way it is supposed to be played with top skill, quickness, and agility. None of this artificial steroid induced power and cheating of MLB.
Team USA is a disgrace to the entire history of Major League baseball. .Their cheapening the brand with their lack of discipline to win and dominate that Korea and Japan have become the new standard of the best baseball that is being played in the world.. I see where you're coming from with Korea and Japan having more discipline and as you say "will to dominate." But from where I sit the lineup and defense were well thought out before injuries took over. Though I'm more than a little disturbed that BJ Upton wasn't playing in right as opposed to Adam Dunn. This teams problem this whole tournament was pitching period, and nobody should be shocked. I can think of no fewer than 15 starters who should have been on the team over Oswalt and Lilly.
I'm surprised the pitching was so poor. Lidge is a dominant shut down pitcher and our bullpen was stacked with good closers yet no one pitcher was able to blow away batters.. Not sure if it as due to the lack of preparation but, MLB and the general US sports fan needs to realize that this competition is a measure of the best national base ball talent and when the US loses, its a blackeye to the MLB brand.
True on all counts...but when I think of great American pitchers currently in their prime the lack of participation by high end major league pitchers was deplorable. The sport of baseball needs an event like this badly, especially with all the recent scandal. Things that I would change immediately would involve taking it out of Selig's hands entirely, Having one host country per tournament, Having it at the end of the season as opposed to before, and getting rid of that stupid pitch count rule.
I dont necessarily think this needs to happen toward the end of the season.. I think what Team USA needs to do is assemble a team in January and play a fair share of exhibition games raher gathering players 2 weeks into spring training and expecting them to be in playoff form.. I was at the semi final game with USA and the final game Japan Korea and the fan support is just amazing, its amazing how asians support their team outside of asia. Even yet, a dodgers fan was fighting with a giants fan when I was there... was kinda funny.

I heard that these could be some of the countries that could appear in the 2013 WBC: Czech Republic, Russia, Germany, Great Britain, France, Israel, Brazil, Colombia, and Nicaragua...these are just possibilities...mostly non-traditional baseball countries, except for Colombia and Nicaragua where it's played a little.

The reason why Japan is dominant in baseball today is already said by espn, its the small play. Bunting the clean up hitter is something americans will never do. We all like home runs, but homeruns are not the win.

Don't forget defensive footwork, positioning, and speed. You'd never see Adam Dunn fielding for either Japan or Korea. Short repetetive motions are something the Japanese and Koreans have mastered to the point where they almost seemed robotic when fielding. The Japanese also hit far more sacrifice flys than they did homeruns.

true, in fact I dont think Japan or Korea would sacrefice Defence and speed for power like Dunn. When that big korean 3rd baseman had an error the manager took him off right away, thats the dicipline that they have. Almost no errors in these kind of games.

That would be Bud Selig and MLB running the tournament, and you're absolutely right, they are stupid. Imagine the money wasted moving everybody around from country to country. Just hold the whole thing in one country. Better yet hold it in a country where baseball is played but is struggling to gain traction, like say Australia. But no, they won't do that, we'd rather play in a 3/4 empty Dolphin Stadium in Miami. Such is the global marketing genious of Bud Selig.

Actually that isnt stupid at all, why play in Tokyo dome for all asian teams? because they are close together and Tokyo dome gets the most public out of any other asian country. Moving China, Taiwan, Korea and Japan to say LA just for a elminiation pool is just stupid as stadiums would be empty.

I said one host country, not one stadium. The counties that care did their part to support their team. So my argument is why should the final rounds always be in the U.S. where the locals clearly are more concerned with spring training. If the entire tournament were held in say Korea, Australia, or Latin America, passionate fans would still show up and it would do more of a service to the credibility of the tournament, with the added benefit of not forcing some teams to jump several time zones.

The reason for this is that you cant predict what the final will be. So lets say you set up the final in Japan, but neither japan, korea, china or taiwan made it to the final. Lets say the final was Mexico vs Dominican republic. No one would be there. Why pick LA? it has a huge concentration of Japanese, koreans, Mexicans, Americans...etc. You cant chose a final location in such short notice if thats what you mean.

that why we Puerto Rican host the the first round cause all the games almost sold out or sold out when Puerto Rico plays ( i went to the games and if u go u will see that us are passionate of the game) to me that why we have host the games but if we play the games en la Republica Dominicana, Venezuela o Cuba (but USA governement) is not in good terms with Cuba or Venezuela) people we go cause we los latinos are passionate of the game

Team USA is a disgrace to the entire history of Major League baseball. .Their cheapening the brand with their lack of discipline to win and dominate that Korea and Japan have become the new standard of the best baseball that is being played in the world.. I laugh at the stupidity of amerian fans who route for the Yankees and cant comprehed that NY is part of the USA and that team USA represents a collection of allstar players that cant win against international competition

I see where you're coming from with Korea and Japan having more discipline and as you say "will to dominate." But from where I sit the lineup and defense were well thought out before injuries took over. Though I'm more than a little disturbed that BJ Upton wasn't playing in right as opposed to Adam Dunn. This teams problem this whole tournament was pitching period, and nobody should be shocked. I can think of no fewer than 15 starters who should have been on the team over Oswalt and Lilly.

I'm surprised the pitching was so poor. Lidge is a dominant shut down pitcher and our bullpen was stacked with good closers yet no one pitcher was able to blow away batters.. Not sure if it as due to the lack of preparation but, MLB and the general US sports fan needs to realize that this competition is a measure of the best national base ball talent and when the US loses, its a blackeye to the MLB brand.

True on all counts...but when I think of great American pitchers currently in their prime the lack of participation by high end major league pitchers was deplorable. The sport of baseball needs an event like this badly, especially with all the recent scandal. Things that I would change immediately would involve taking it out of Selig's hands entirely, Having one host country per tournament, Having it at the end of the season as opposed to before, and getting rid of that stupid pitch count rule.

I dont necessarily think this needs to happen toward the end of the season.. I think what Team USA needs to do is assemble a team in January and play a fair share of exhibition games raher gathering players 2 weeks into spring training and expecting them to be in playoff form.. Surprised they didnt learn their lesson since the embarrassment of the 2006 WBC. THe typical US sport fan needs to quit being in state of denial of not relating their regional teams to the USA roster.

that is true, however that is no excuse to say about their loss, training and preparation is just as important as the actual game, its part of the game. And even yet USA added players at last minute, something that shouldnt have been allowed. You go to tokyo dome during the japan game and you see all japanese fans cheering for japan, no matter what club they play for, its unity at its best.

Well its true usa didnt have all of its prime players, but you should also know that neither Japan nor Korea or Venezuela had 100% of its prime players either. I was at the semi final game with USA and the final game Japan Korea and the fan support is just amazing, its amazing how asians support their team outside of asia. Even yet, a dodgers fan was fighting with a giants fan when I was there... was kinda funny.
