I usually hear of children having hypersensitivity and tending to avoid stimulation because it can be somewhat painful to them. This is interesting, I didn't know autistic children were also on the opposite end of this! I suppose it really IS on a spectrum.
@BladesOfMunch this is correct, I have aspergers, loud noises bother me like you wouldn't believe, it gives me a headache and I can't calm down until I move out of the room and then I can calm down.
Asperger's syndrome is also interesting. It's a very unusual one that falls under the "autism spectrum" of disorders, however it seems to be one of the "lesser known" one's. This is a shame really, it would be great if there was more research on it. It's just as fasinating as the other autistic disorders.
Weighted Blankets are great! We purchased our first from DreamCatcher Weighted Blankets about 6 years ago and have gotten 5 more for family since then. You can enter for a free blanket there, they give one away each month! It's a well established honest company started by parents of a special needs child. They are custom made and also have an exchange program to keep costs down.
You can also use a Cozy Calm weighted blanket. I'll be introducing videos over the coming months about our weighted blankets from people who use them.
My son has PDD-NOS. He loves it when I wrap him up in a blanket like a burrito and then drag the blanket around the house! He's into trains the way your son is into bugs. :)
i know i love being done that what i like to be as tight as i can cause if i am not i end up in melt down or i have tics that just keeping going i have aspergers somtimes only way i feel better is swing or in a small crawl space
haha! my 3 year old ASD son could never do this because he can't handle the rolling. but he sleeps with a 2 pound bag of pinto beans on top of him, he loves the weighted pressure. i'm so glad you make these videos in a positive nature, and not the depressing "autism stole my child" way. keep it up!
Cool video! I just started occupational therapy less than two months ago. My OT said that I crave deep pressure. She's totally right, but I never knew until recently. I love insects, too.
That's adorable :D
