I think here I was using an old Korg AX1B, with compression and a bit of reverb, and straight from there into my soundcard. I now use a PODPro, which allows a bit more room for customization.

On my bass, I usually roll back my balance a touch to the bridge (but barely) for some clarity, and keep the EQ flat. And that's it! Bear in mind that I have one of the older model Euro's, so it's not the same preamp as they use today.

@jmatthews13 I have an older euro as well, somewhere within 90-92. NS5CRFM. :p Yeah i've got a POD GX and I just never get any tone out of that thing, ever. I have to run out of my amp into the input if I want a tone and a good recording.

really good performance, very nice. any advice for me as a noob at tapping? it's not only uncomfortable but also quiet for me. is that largely the action's fault or is that a common technical noob error i'm likely to be making?

You want your action to be pretty low, so if you're playing a factory-setup Fender it's likely too high to comfortably tap. I like to keep my action as low as I can.

Also, most players' plucking fingers are the weakest, specifically the pinkie. You should work on strengthening them by doing any exercises you can.
