  • why do did you rename it Ultr big hand from The Big Hand?

the more i listen to people talk about jason vs boris the more i dislike jason's drumming which is ruining the cure for me. i've seen them 19 times over 20 years, mostly with jason and i never thought he was bad until i started to compare them. i think you just have to stop comparing them. it's like porl vs perry. there is no one like porl and when you listen from 1996 until he came back he realize how good he is.

  • @JubeProductions it was recorded in miami at the ultra music festival in 2007. I was there in first row. great concert......

  • @bea251 ... i've seen the cure 19 times in venues from small club in NYC (irving plaza, 1997) to huge summer festivals in CA. this is one song i would LOVE to see live. sometimes watching a song performed live is an incredible experience. i was at a show in 1996 about 4 rows back in front of robert and they played If Only Tonight We Could Sleep, and i was left wide eyed and slack jawed after watching robert play. i can still see him slowly sliding his pick up the neck of his guitar...amazing!

  • wish they but this on their major set

  • Jason Cooper Sucks...he is a good drummer but dose not fit with this style.. He is obviously a SCHOOL TRAINED drummer! the cure needs someone like Boris who understands the difference in each song and plays accordingly! the cure is well known for having a different sound for each song...and Jason can not do that!

  • @joekaps1210 exactly what I think about this issue. Jason is so weak, his drumset sounds as sh*t, his drum fills just don't fit a Cure song, his hi-hat work is null, he slows down all the songs, etc. On the other hand, Boris was a hard hitter drummer, a guy with excellent ideas for fills and patterns, his sound was superb and had more musical soul than the 'lucky-amateur' jason cooper.

Have you watched the video called "jason cooper cant stop playing cymbals"? if not, please watch it asap.

  • I remember how irritated I was when this didn't make the Wish album (just had to shove Doing the Unstuck on their). This is a great version, much better than the recorded release. Amazing this song is a B-side.

  • The drums sound like sh&*( .. just hear ANY bootleg with Boris and you will hear the big difference!

Jason sounds and plays bad.. too sad Robert seems to be too lazy to look for a good drummer.

  • I think he chose it so the drums dont stand out. He just want him as a background

  • @cure4allAndMe actually I don't mind his drumming I like Boris better though but its pointless to keep going on about it

  • @cure4allAndMe i agree with you. Jason sounds so bad that is annoying. He seems like playing a can or a cardboard box sometimes..

  • The Master Cure on 0:30

  • Ohhh i really miss the Fender Bass VI sound on The Cure, its no the same hear them with Robert Smith Ultracure Guitar. Robert Smith leave using Fender Bass VI guitar since 2004. Now in days he only uses Ultracure Guitar by Sheckter

  • Actually he owns a copy of the Bass VI that is the same model as the Ultracure guitar... sadly it's not for sale by Schecter :S

  • An Ultracure bass vi? we should all throws tones of emails telling schecter to sell it!

  • Yep. I saw him playing it on the Festival 2005 dvd, didn't find any information on the web, so I mailed Schecter, they answered "It is a cross between our Hellcat VI and Robert's UltraCure. It is not currently in production.". I suppose the Hellcat VI does the job, as it supposedly had input from Robert and Perry on the creation... but still, an Ultracure Bass VI would be VERY nice...

  • @fobiedgar I couldn't agree more. I spent thousands on my bass vi to get that tone. Its just not the same. Missing that beautiful midrange here.

  • one of the greates songs...

  • A fabulous song. Lucky audience!

  • Thanks for the video... I love this song, but listen do the drums... they don't sound good.

No comparison with Boris Williams, it sounded so huge with him.

  • @Listendudeok Everything changed for bad when Boris left. Coincidence? I don't think so.

  • @gnzvideos You're right, sadly.

  • they should play more often these songs, not only the same:)

  • great song, Porls creation, Bob didn't like his lyrics he put with it but I think it is awesome

  • If I think it over, this is my favourite cure song. Thank you for uploading it. Fantastic. All the best.

  • i was there... it was a big surprise when they played it...i remember that marvelous day...thank you for uploaded this video.

  • Great, one of my best b-sides. I also like Fear of ghosts.

  • you rule!!

    ;)

  • When I was at that show, I thought it was one of the songs from their new album. I was wrong.

  • it is a b'side from 'wish' l.p. 1992.

    The Big Hand.

If i'm right from the single 'A Letter To Elise'

  • super . I wished there was more of this

  • What a night, what a great surprise "The Big Hand" was!

  • Esecuzione perfetta di Big Hand!! Non eseguivano questo brano dal Wish tour. Grande Robert! Fantastici Cure! Eseguite più spesso b-sides dal vivo!!

  • I was there! MAN! that was sooooooo fucking cool! One of my favourite cure songs, hadn´t played that since the Wish Tour. People didn´t quite understand what was going on in that song until they finally recognized it. The ambience was PERFECT!! GOD!! What a concert! CURE RULES!

  • The Cure
