Where I live there are sooo many.......I've always wanted to see one and I'm sure one day I will, I go for long hikes up in the mountains to photograph nature and animals, I absolutely love it......I hope if I ever bump into one of these beautiful animals I can photograph them without it trying to eat me... :)
These sounds are useful. Dont be fooled by not seeing cats they are around far more than when I was a child. I have been stalked multiple (once with that kinda clucking sound going on very close)times, once at night on hwy 26. I have called in at least 4 with positive sighting coyote call. I saw 2 in our broken down car as a child, 2 on the highway as adult, 1 on forest service road devils garden calif. Most sightings are the blink of an eye if stalking. Obviously I dont suit thier appetite.
Kinda eerie/beautiful when you DO see one in the wild. They're usually far and away on a cliff or something (I hike a lot) and they're just sitting there watching you. Probably trying to decide if they can get at me or not....haha.
okay last night i heard a mountain lion but i thought it was my cat but thanks for the video because it made the same noise as that and my cat i relized was in the house
Can you answer a question for me? I went on this sanctuary's website and it said that they engage in an endangered species breeding program. Is this sanctuary accredited? because one of the criteria of being an accredited sanctuary as far as I know is that you CANNOT breed your animals.
OK I have emailed them and will let you know. I only ask because there is a difference between real sanctuaries and fake ones. Many pseudo-sanctuaries that I know are licensed by the USDA but they are not the watchdogs of the industry. The animals here seem to have ok enclosures but the USDA's standards only require that an animal's cage be big enough that he can stand up and turn around in it.
I understand. They have quite large enclosures with trees to perch on, large wooden enclosures and swimming pools with rubber balls. They play in the pools extensively and would wait until you got close enough and splash you. Then made a chuffing noise that was sounded a lot like laughing. Is this the rainforest, no. Is it a good facility, I think so.
My ex-girlfriend owned two bobcats and domesticated them for the most part. The males get to around 3ft. and 60lbs. It's all in the way their taken care of and fed, that depends on the level of trust and love the animal will exude to ppl. and other pets.
wow.. we're your ex gf's bobcats fully domesticated like regular house cats?? aren't they dangerous to have around the house??? i wouldn't feel safe.. thanks for the info...
Wow I never knew they sounded like that ... weird ... is this true? They sound like hyenas or something. I knew they could purr, but didn't know what other noises they made.
I can tell you how they got there org. the cougar is native to all the americas. During the 60s & 70s many rich people got them as pets and didn't know what to do with them so they set them free. Also some escape circuses and zoos. Cougars can live in the desert/praires/or high mountains in the snow very adaptable animals they are beautiful.
Please do some vids and show your beautiful cougars and talk about their plight and fight to get them off the hunting lists. They are becoming endangered.

Mountain Lions are so cool. Any animal capable of killing a man seems altogether more exciting.

To answer someone's question, they can and do kill humans, but not often. Their natural prey are deer.
SheriAmsel 3 years ago
@SheriAmsel They will only attack humans under 4 circumstances:
1. They are starving and desperate
2. They are protecting their young
3. They have brain parasites so they go crazy
4. They are wounded or sick
Just saying :)

I would email them with that question. They work closely with USDA, so I would assume so, but please do ask them. And let me know. Best,

Rumor has it that some of these big cats are secretly roaming the British countryside.
GarthanSaal444 4 years ago
They are secretive, but I am guessing someone would have seen one by now... but that would be cool.
