In memory of Ironworker, Robert "Bobby" Harvey, who was killed on 8/14/08 at the Goliath Crane. Our prayers and respect extends to the families of the injured too, workers and friends who are who grieving with this tragic news.

there's been a tragedy at the foreriver ship yard with Goliath =( they were taking the crane apart when one of the legs gave way and crashed down on to workers below

I use to live right on the Fore River, then I moved away from the river, but everytime I go towards Quincy I always used to see it when I was little! Right now I live like 10 minutes from Quincy. I always thought it looked like a dog. lol 4 legs and a head. Or a horse? lol. Is their anything we can do to stop them from moving it?!!?

Same here, grew up with the sounds of the 3rd shift whistle echoing across the bay. Will never forget seeing LNG spheres suspended from Goliath. It's amazing how far you can see that from. Prudential, Logan, Blue Hills and a lot further. I took pix in the 80's when it used to say General Dynamics on it, can't locate them.

im sad to see it go man,,,, ive lived in Quincy my whole life,, im an ironworker so i appreciate that thing,,, my father was a welder down the yard in the 70s and 80s,,, its gonna be weird not seeing it everytime i walk out the door
