Last time I went to the Trocadero (October 2011), I found that even the smaller Funland arcade has closed down. There are a couple of machines on the ground floor, but no proper arcade any more.
I've always found these coin operated fighting machines are a magnet for trouble. There this group of scumbag adults in a leisure centre arcade once and this little 7 year old accidentally pushed the button on their game and they all started assualting the kid physically and the premises didn't do fuck all about it. These violent games can have an effect on some peoples minds. SOrry but these places are generally trouble magnets back in the early 90s to a certain point
You are a legend. Without this place my life would have been different in so many ways. Arcades are places to build relationships, make work contacts and friends! Great footage.
Thank you so much! im a big sonic the hedgehog fan & my cousin said when he was younger he went to Sega world with the family! im 14 and i've been to Funland that was orginally Segaworld & i compare funland to Segaworld so terrible.. i wish Segaworld never sold it.
thats so cool all those retro arcade machines, i would probably be drooling if i went there today. anyways theres actually one of these in dubai it was being constructed when i went on holiday there and it has most of the same stuff. so its not completely over!
My god this place looked fucking awesome.....to think there was a (sort of) recent arcade that actually had GOOD Fighting Games in it. The only damn fighting game that you MIGHT run into nowadays is maybe Tekken 5 or 6 (there good games, don't get me wrong) or maybe MvC2. But this place.....my god.....
and this was 1-2 years before i first went troc and started going regulaly (yeah i can't spell), but even so i remember there being this type of atmosphere and awesomness there. and lol i didn't realise how old those change machines are, and forgot how old daytona is :P
Great video, thanks for uploading! As you may know, the lower floors were turned into Funland when Segaworld ended in late '99. The top floors are now going to be converted into a hotel for the 2012 olympics.
@LiamRproductions: Google ' London Trocadero Hotel' - this news has been reported on various property/hotel websites. I actually visited Funland this week but no work is being carried out at the moment.
@RJAY63 could u check passed the vending machine leading up to Sega world? I'd love to know what still remains up there.. if anything nobody has been up there for more then 10years.. I need to know!
@misterbearbe the 2nd big esculator leading to the top floors is closed and has been since that crap show the salon took over the top floors. so bascially troc is open from the top of the first big esculator downwards, they removed alot of stuff, some of which i don't actually know about as this vid was before my time at troc. i try to go every week.
@misterbearbe You can just Jump over the barrrier but its pitch black and Unless you have permission and a Gas Mask and a torch then im afraid it'll be impossible to get up there.

Last week they started the building work inside Trocadero to turn the old Sega World floors into a pod hotel for the 2012 London Olympics.
