Idina does not scream end of! - if she did she'd have vocal nodes and her voice would be ruined its a fact...she just has an amazing belt range and i think the cast recording of this song is one of the best of her career tbh. She does better singing just about everything that isn't Defying Gravity. And, whether you agree or not, she does scream. She can sound great or she can sound awful and the fact of it is that when she hits the higher notes, she's screaming. You blatantly hear the screaming around 2:35. And, I really strongly dislike her anunciation.

actually, the "scooping the notes" thing is a big part of what the jazz style is all about ;) She DOESN'T scoop her notes like that when she's doing other styles of music, but she's really GREAT at doing it when it's appropriate in jazz songs. You know how there are times when you use a mute on the trumpet and times when you dont? it's kind of like that. It's a stylistic choice.

There IS a difference between belting and screaming.Belting is done by using AIR SUPPORT and dynamics, while screaming is just straining your throat, and doing it very loudly.

I love how she pushes and pushes to get all the breath out to hold those beautiful long notes, and you can see this with her body movements, yet her face makes it look effortless !!
