  • My go too man for alot of my asian cooking information thanks alot

  • @Jurikeh Thanks for the kind words, and for watching!

  • You cooked this rare wonton soup you can have my girlfriend Based Cmtoy

    Thank You Basegood #cook #swag

  • @isitwithtoast You can keep your girlfriend! Thanks for watching though! ;-)

  • What do you use for the wrap or dough to the wantons?

  • @Jurikeh In most places you can buy wonton wrappers. If you want to make your own you can just make a regular pasta dough with egg and flour. Thanks for watching!

  • I'll be making this very soon. :) great recipe

  • @cheesyasizzy Great! Let me know how it came out for you. Thanks for watching!

  • Thank you. Very helpful.

  • @Shuhac You're welcome! Thanks for watching!

  • what would you recommend as a filling instead of meat?

  • @adda89 Anything that you could chop finely would work. Seafood such as shrimp or scallops would be good. Crumbled tofu and scrambled eggs too. Chopped vegetables like cabbage, carrots, scallions, onions would be fine as well. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching and asking!

  • @cmtoy thanks a lot!

  • @adda89 You're welcome a lot!

  • how many does this serve?

  • @tailsofpearls The amount I'm making in the video would serve between 3-4 people as a main dish, more if if were an appetizer. Thanks for your question, and for watching!

  • I enjoyed your video, it gave insight into the technique behind making a wonton soup. The first time I ever tried making wonton Soup I assume it was just like any other soup, and I let the ingredients boil for far too long. I liked this recipe especially because it included bok choy and scallions. A lot of restaurants will just serve the wontons in broth with scallions. Is this the way it is traditionally eaten? I must say I enjoy the vegtables a lot and the soup isn't the same without them.

  • @mmc64 Also the restaurant that I usually buy my wonton soup from serves their soup with two slices of pork ontop of it. I'm not sure how they cook it but it had a bright red skin on the outside and a very pleasent almost perfect white center. I wish I knew what cut of pork was used and how it was prepared. Great video!

  • @mmc64 Yes, the red Chinese pork is a traditional ingredient. Usually it's roasted or BBQ pork loin that has been marinated in a sweet and salty sauce. you can find the sauce in grocery stores. Sometimes you can find Chinese roast pork in the meat section of the grocery store as well. Thanks for posting!

  • @mmc64 This is the way my family traditionally makes wonton soup. I don't usually order it in restaurants because there's not enough in it compared to homemade! Thanks for watching, and for your comments!

  • at 0:24

You go to 2nd base with your wonton soup, while lil b goes home with it

    (wonton soup=poon)

  • @TheSmilerable That's fine as long as lil b gets what he needs!

  • is wonton good if left out overnight?

  • @tiffany101112 I don't think it would be good left over night. The wrapper will get soggy, and the inside meat might spoil if left out. Thanks for watching and posting!

  • SWAG

  • @LikeClockwerk Swag Swag!

  • @cmtoy Hop Up Out mah Car Whooooooo!

  • @cmtoy HAHA!

You're awesome, swag to the maximum, swag to the hundred thousand, hundred million!

  • @ry52an52 Thanks for noticing! And...and thanks for watching!

  • Excuse me sir, are you a ninja?

  • @TheGaryhartmann I'm thinking ninjas don't tell if they are ninjas!

  • swag

  • @supermunyi swag swag..Thanks!

  • my cantonese friend told me to mixed chopped wood ear mushroom and cabbage in the ground meat. It turned out very good. Great folding methods from cmtoy helps sealing the stuff coming out. Thanks cmtoy

  • @aikidobabe What a great idea! Thanks for watching AND sharing!

  • I watch this muted and use Lil B's audio!

  • @FierceFerrett Food and music! A great combination. Thanks for watching and posting!

  • your welcome i tried your ramen recipe with some soy sauce hot sauce/lime juice combo and sharp cheeses for lunch than i had it the way you did it in the vid except with more broth and it was amazing

  • @420phishingformoe420 Great to hear you enjoyed your lunch! Thanks for sharing your recipe as well!

  • do you get Kikkoman or some thing fresher

  • @420phishingformoe420 I like Kikkoman. I'm not sure about freshness when it comes to soy sauce. Soy sauce is aged and fermented with a kind of mold! Thanks for watching!

  • well done!

  • @futuristfood Thank you for the kind comment, and for watching!

  • This guy is a demigod.

  • @craigjonesslipknot5 Well....I don't know about that, but thanks for watching!

  • LIL B

  • @lownaol I wonder, does LIL B know about this? Thanks for watching!

  • if thats really a won ton soup how can you even lift it, i say fake.

  • @harryvonlipwig Magic? Check out the wok baked chicken. We bend the space-time continuum. Thanks for watching!

  • @cmtoy is it stephen hawkings recipe? I shall look at it soon.

  • Wow, that's awesome! I'm going to try it out tonight for dinner. can I use beef instead of pork?

  • @lcuellar79 Great! Yes you can substitute beef, chicken, seafood, or even vegetarian ingredients. Let me know how it comes out for you! Thanks for watching!

  • when folding the wrap, do you have to sqeeze out the air?

  • @pinoypower247 Good question! It's not a problem if there's some air in the wonton. The wrapper will actually shrink around the filling as it boils in the soup. Thanks for watching!

  • GOD DAM BASED....YOU HAVE TAUGHT YOUR DISCIPLE WELL...WHOOP

  • Thank you for your response. I will try it your way first....again thanks!

  • Thank you for the video. Would that be just as good without bok choy in it? I want to try it with only the won tons and spring onions and of course the Chicken broth. Thanks also for the teaching of how to fold them in different ways. Your video was excellent! Do you know how to fix foiled wrapped chicken?

  • @TheAnn1948 I'd say leave out what you don't want and add in what you do want! Remember, at some point in the past SOMEONE made up every recipe. Recipes are really just suggestions. So make up your own! Do try what the recipes says at least once, unless, of course, you're allergic to an ingredient!

    Thanks for watching!

  • Thank you for the video. Would that be just as good without bok choy in it? I want to try it with only the won tons and spring onions and of course the Chicken broth. Thanks also for the teaching of how to fold them in different ways. Your video was excellent!

  • @ATLhometownATL It's great that you're going to try the recipe out! A tip or two? Serve the soup as soon as possible after it's done otherwise the wontons and vegetables can get overcooked and soggy. Let me know how it comes out for you! and...Thanks for watching!

  • @Mrstonester Thanks for trying it out so soon! It's always great when someone makes the recipe then writes back. Thanks for watching!

  • @cmtoy oh thank you. by the way, what kind of mushrooms did you use? I used shitake.

  • @Mrstonester I use dried shitake as well! I also grow them myself! yum!

  • @cmtoy grew them yourself? huh. sounds good. where did you learn how to cook so well? and did you come up with the recipes yourself?

  • @Mrstonester My mom started me off on cooking when I was around your age. I always enjoyed eating, so I enjoyed cooking! I am an educator so also enjoy teaching and learning! Most of my recpies were ones I grew up with and then gradually changed to make them my own.

  • @cmtoy thats great.

  • @cmtoy the shitakes i used weren't actually dried, I actually soaked them in warm water

  • @cmtoy By the way, I'm only twelve, but my brother and I always had nanny's and our mom, and they all taught us cooking, my brother makes more italian food (he's 14) and I lean more towards asian cooking. we are both homeschooled, so cooking is kind of our hobby.

  • @Mrstonester It's good to know how to cook, that way you can eat what you want!

  • eat dat wonton soup swag swag

  • @JIMSTAYZCHILLEN make dat wonton soup first swag swag! Thanks for watching!

  • Just one thing. I would have waited until the second boil, after you put in the veggies. Specially that we're dealing with pork here -you don't want to get cysts in your brain for eating undercooked pork.

  • @nuvamusic Thanks for your comment. Cook for as long as you feel comfortable. Just remember not to over cook the wonton or it will be soggy...like over cooked pasta. Each wonton has less than a teaspoon of pork which cooks very rapidly when placed in the boiling broth. I've tested the "doneness" of the filling after one minute of boiling and it's well cooked. Imagine holding your finger in boiling water for a full minute...it would be well sterilized. Thanks for watching!

  • well done

  • @shinobisukiro I appreciate the feedback. Thanks for watching!

  • LET DAT BOY COOK!

  • @oledude123 And then let him EAT! Thanks for watching!

  • When you "pain around the bases" what is the clear liquid you use? Is it water? When I make wonton soup and "paint the bases" I use egg whites, is this okay?

  • @YagamiRaitosan I paint around the bases with water. It's OK to use egg whites if you want. Thanks for watching!

  • Wooo wooo swagswag, based god wonton soup bitch

  • What is elhamp!

  • @goinghomesomeday1 elhamp is someone mariasalas0440 looks up to for cooking advice.

  • i go with elhamp! and i thimk you put too much water.

  • @mariasalas0440 And that is why I always tell my students to try first then decide. Have you tried it yet? Thanks for your opinion and for watching.

  • it takes only 4-5 minutes to cook them, is that enough for the fillings to get cooked too! Is it ok to cook the fillings beforehand?

  • @elhamp There's no need to precook wonton filling. There's just a small amount of filling in each wonton and the boiling water cooks it through in a couple minutes. Think about how hot boiling water really is...Thanks for watching.

  • where can i buy the wonton wrap?

  • @4570494

I bought mine from a chinese grocery store. Very reasonable prices!

  • @4570494 As leg1024 mentioned you can get them at an Asian grocery store. A lot of regular grocery stores carry them in the fresh produce section too. Thanks for watching!

  • Thank u very much!!!

  • @seasickboyz123 You're welcome very much. Thanks for watching!

  • wow!, You are very talented at cooking! Are the mushrooms neccesary in the chicken broth?

  • @ThePenguinWizard If you do not like mushrooms just leave them out. Thanks for watching!

  • is there a vegetarian filling that you can use/make?

  • @sudheshnam Yes! You could replace the meat with tofu. Thanks for watching.

  • great stuff!! did u know there is a polish dish very simillar to this one ? they using beetroot stock to cook wontons. very tasty sweet earthy flavours i must say.

  • @shinai79 Thanks for sharing. I'll have to see if I can find it. I bet there's some kind of soup dumplings in most cultures. Thanks for watching!

  • Those look tasty. I need to try that. Been a few years since my last wonton "experiment"... didn't turn out so well then, but this video gives me more confidence to do it right.

  • @spooieVAULT Go for it and let me know how it comes out! Thank sfor watching!

  • @cmtoy Turned out much better than last time. I made some for my aunts too, and both loved it.

  • is that water or stock your using?

  • @zeeshan66 It's stock. Water wouldn't have enough flavor. Thanks for watching!

  • are wonton and dim sum the same?? because i steamed a wonton and it tasted delicious, but the same like dim sum
