  • Geez im 49 and been playing for 30 and never thought for the life of me that I would have a 12 year old guitar player be on my guitar hero list. What incredible timing, What a talent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Grant just keeps on getting better and better. This video is on fire. He's 12 here. He's got the gift. Great job.

  • GRANT, YOU ARE TERRIFIC ! raymeo888@yahoo.com

  • how old is that dude keep rocking !!!!!!!!!!!

  • This kid is excellent. I think it is unfortunate that "Shred" is in the video title—he is a melodic, old-school rock player ( with some jazzy chops) and has a much more lyrical style than a lot of guys who call themselves "shredders". I'll listen to this kid's stuff anyday.

  • excelent! I am old, and i've never got to play so good, like this kid.

  • props

  • You guys should've seen him at Paradox last night.. Holy cow.. hes gotten much better.

  • this guy is good....just a few more years to improve his feel and power

  • Comment removed

  • Do I hear a bit of Santana mixed with Eric Clapton style in there?

  • @vinmusicman123 yea been playing 10 years and he still sucks kinda sad.

  • @bigmonkeyman44 Are you an idiot? How old is this kid in this video, and he's got more rhythm, timing, phrasing, melody, tone, theory and technique than half the 'artists' you see on the scene at the moment. You sir, ARE an idiot.

  • Just seen this guy today, and I gotta tell ya: It sux to get showed up by someone a year or 2 younger than you (He's lucky I only got to play easy songs, or he'da been owned). He looks a hell of a lot younger in this vid though! Nao he's kinda like the Justin Bieber of actually good music lol

  • he took school at keystone :)

  • sucks

  • very impressive! Saw him at the angelsea blues festiville, EXCELLENT!!! Can't believe he's so young! Good luck in the future!

  • he will be eating fist fulls of drugs in no time, no doubt

  • Unlike other dumbasses his age he actually knows some theory.

  • @bergaminivideos music theory is for fools

  • @bergaminivideos its not about theory really music is music. someone could know no theory at all and still manage to write some of the best melodies

  • @bergaminivideos You don't need to know theory to be a good musician. Music is more about playing off feelings and emotions than worrying about rules about what to play. I don't know any theory and I'm one of the better improv bassists in my area. I go crazy on my fills and riffs and people love it because I'm playing the groove and having a good time. Of course I will hit wrong notes and make sure I avoid those notes, but we shouldn't get wrapped up in theory. It takes the fun out of music.

  • @5sesp07 lol "dont need theory to be a good musician". who gives a fuck about learning scales and shit, im just gonna use my heart and emotionhurdur

  • @musicv69 If you think theory is all there is to music I feel very sorry for you. Look at the best musicians. Do you honestly think they're thinking "Well I'll play a G scale here and then try a minor. Maybe pull out a major scale." No. They're playing music. They're getting the feel for the song and going with it. Also, I wasn't saying scales are bad. I was just saying they aren't necessary for everyone. Read "The Music Lesson" by Victor Wooten. It explains how theory and emotion mix together.

  • @5sesp07 never said theory is all there is. im saying emotion is not the only thing you need to play music. you have to have some background on theory before you apply your emotion, soul, heart or whatever you want to call it to it.

  • @5sesp07 many of them doing exactly so. Satch and Vai learned theory, and thinking what are they doin' every time. Mozart also etc.

  • dont hate him......... cuz you aint him.....

  • Look at the way he switches between pickups constantly... I guess this is an Alnico promo vid. He definitely demonstrates a mastery of his gorgeous Goldtop with innovative genius.

  • @MrAmajor7 you know what I found funny, those arent the alnico II pros, those are stock les paul classic ceramic magnet pickups. the alnico II pros are in his slash les paul. Hes a great player, but very quiet haha

  • very good job, keep on playin!

  • Great playing! I like you alot more than Slash because you are playing more than just pentatonics :) You got a bright future ahead of you!

  • Tasty playing! Love the outside note selection! Awesome tone too!

  • that is not shredding and the les paul is bigger than him

  • @armthehomelessBW

His talent is bigger and better than you =)

  • a nice goldtop autographed by Les Paul.Wow.

hey les pauls can shred ok what´s wrong with a les paul.?

if you wanna shred first you should play the blues ,if not you may end sounding like a machine like some shredders.

you are doing fine keep at it.

    you are really good.

i took notice of your name kid you are gonna be great.

    see ya.

  • WHAT A GREAT TALENT!!!******

  • amazing!- youth arts forum's webmaster. welcome

  • fantastico ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • he's gonna get laid a lot when he gets a bit older

  • I wish I could play that well. I have been playing for 23 years and I'm not that good!

  • Unbelieveable. He seamlessly melds rock and blues into a jazz framework. I can see why Les autographed his axe-it was like passing a torch. A major young talent whose time has come!

  • Grant has already a long way...behind him, playing for years with the greatest Rock and Blues artists and he has been far more than good from the start. I wonder if you could play only 1/4 th as he does !

  • He is overrated I can play as good or maybe even better than him and I'm 14.

  • Just prove it and answer with a video of yours !

  • That wasnt my comment sorry. My friend was on my acct , Im 12 , I dont play guitar , But you can see him on my friends list.

  • And where are YOUR uploads, you jealous little bitch...

  • Dude shut the fuck up and read my comment before that. IM FUCKING 12 , MY FREIND WHO WAS AT MY HOUSE FORGOT HE WASNT LOGGED IN AS HIMSELF. IF YOU WANT A FUCKING CONVERSATION TAKE IT UP WITH HIM ON MY FRIENDS LIST , Douchebag.

  • Yeah man... Show us.. Show us your shred.

  • Naw, I've been playing for 27 - 28 years now... this young feller does NOT suck. He is doing great. He will only get better and better... he will end up far superior to most.

  • @Thistlesifter220 Your comment of THIS FELLER does NOT "suck" is negative driven. Suck being the negative. Try kid is AWESOME in the future.

For everyone else: Who would say for any reason that this "12" year old sucks? OMG he is "12" for gosh sake. He is an old soul but still is ONLY 12! The only comments that should be made are positive ones! Makes me sick that adults can really be so jealous and act like a 2 year old's. GOOD JOB Austin! I will be coming to see you this weekend!

  • @kmallen1130 It's hard to remember because it's been a year, but knowing me I worded it that because that's what people were saying, but I hear ya.

  • that looks like a les paul kind of but bigger

  • lol its cuz he's smaller

  • im with you on that lol

  • Genius. Can't wait to see what he'll be able to do in 5 years.

  • wow. this kid was in like all of my classes. he's an awesome singer and guitar player, though. keep it up, grant! :D

  • dude, grant, you are AWESOME!!! I'm going to see you at 17th street tonight!

  • YOU ROCK!!!

    NICE VID.

  • Your good but I mean seriously I can play better

  • great video!! thanks men

  • That kid is quite a man strapping a LesPaul with his body frame!

  • not only that but if you look closely i believe Les Paul has signed it.....

  • Wow, dude! That is some amazing playing!
