From Sean Barlow at Afropop, via my friend & colleague DJ Neva. Sean writes: Busi Mhlongo passes. rest in peace. I am very sad to report the death a true South African original, Busi Mhlongo. She died of cancer at the age of 62. You may have heard her brilliant album, "Urbanzulu" - so beautiful, so moving, that Zulu trad guitar, that leaping voice. She once called me in South Africa out of the blue and talked excitedly about coming to the U.S. to tour.

Sadly we won't be seeing her at all on stages anymore, as she passed on June 15, 2010 at age 62. Her wonderful music lives on!
