Wow, this song!!!! Just the way I remember it from back in those days... She seriously hasn't gotten the accolades she deserves! RIP MamBusi Mhlongo..
From Sean Barlow at Afropop, via my friend & colleague DJ Neva. Sean writes: Busi Mhlongo passes. rest in peace. I am very sad to report the death a true South African original, Busi Mhlongo. She died of cancer at the age of 62. You may have heard her brilliant album, "Urbanzulu" - so beautiful, so moving, that Zulu trad guitar, that leaping voice. She once called me in South Africa out of the blue and talked excitedly about coming to the U.S. to tour.
Came to her too late in her career. I wish I could've heard of her sooner. Thanks to LinkTv for airing her. I mourn her passing. Her talent, energy and powerful voice will be missed.
'woman from abroad' from the Babhemu album to me represents an exciting direction that south african music can take in terms of style. Are you listening Thandiswa, Simphiwe, Zamajobe ...and all my other beautiful sisters of song
Busi Mhlongo -Greatness, Greatness, Greatness. Who could do what she does, who could sing better than her? I wish young south african songstresses could take a listen to this woman and realise how much they can learn from her. She is Powerful and unapologetic about her music but also humble.

Sadly we won't be seeing her at all on stages anymore, as she passed on June 15, 2010 at age 62. Her wonderful music lives on!

I just received a mail saying that Busi Mhlongo is recovering from an operation at the moment.
I hope that she will recover as quick as possible and that she is doing fine at the moment.
I would like to submit my best wishes from Germany, my deepest compassion and sympathy as well as my great admiration and love for her art?
We need her, she's one of the best singers in the world.

I can just agree with takalula79. I wanna see her in germany as often as possible. Busi, where are you?
