  • maybe gold member would like this gold sucker

  • Is that black stuff just iron filaments, or what?

  • @0hypnotoad0

For purposes of the demonstration the magnetic material is oxidized iron.

Black sand as found in nature is composed of two forms of oxidized iron - magnetite and hematite.

  • nice dude were did you buy it

  • Hi, well i live close to a fresh water lake. I walk it alot. I cant help but notice there about a foot wide streak of black sand for about 200 ft. There is also tons of very shinny things looks like gold in the water right out front of the sand. Do you think it might be gold sparkling? Doug Penticton B.C

  • Hello!

It could very possibly be gold. Pick some up and pan it out. It has been said - "Gold is where you find it"....

  • @gladheateher4now It is common for iron pyrite (fools gold) to collect like this at the water's edge. Does to shining particles seem to move in the small waves at the shore line? if they do , It is probably fools gold. If they don't I would collect some to see if it is real gold.

  • @gladheateher4now NO! that is not gold! tell me: where is the lake? LOL

  • @ClintL63 In the okanagan !!!! near Penticton bud
