  • Hi John. I'm 26 and I'm dealing with terrible lower back and leg pain due to spine compression, spinal bone spurs, and sciatic nerve pain. My options are limited right now due to no insurance. I wanted to know what you suggested as a beginning workout. I've already started using ice, like you suggested, instead of heat, like my doctor suggested, & I've noticed a little improvement.   • @hipzilla702 First, I am not a medical doctor, I am a physical anthropologist. However, I have had extensive experience from both the academic side & from the perspective of a patient. My advice is purely anecdotal. I don't know enough to offer suggestions about treatment & would be negligent if I did. I can tell you what I did. 1) I started walking, a little at first & more each day; 2) Rid yourself of excess weight: the walking helped a lot; 3) I stayed active & iced when necessary; Good luck
