  • this is one my all time fav atari games

  • i can watch 9 straight, since they are so damn entertaining, ty

  • Cool game but not one i would consider better than Atlantis- not sure why anyone would. Typically polished Imagic title though and well worth getting

  • I'm going to wax nerdy here for a moment, and answer your question about Ensign Ro. Because that's how I roll. ;)

Apparently, the actress who played Ensign Ro was approached to have her character become a regular on Deep Space Nine... but she declined the offer, so the writers came up with Major Kira Nerys instead.

So basically, the writers for Star Trek WANTED Ensign Ro to come back... but Ensign Ro said Ensign NO! ;)

  • The ship kinda resembles the ship from District 9? Huh? I still have my cart from some 30 yrs ago... Good job on bringing BS to DEAD kids that play 3DS! GO CGR!

  • CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE 2600 KIND!

  • this game is so fun , i still break out my atari from time to time just to play this game, gets so hard tthough lol

  • This game really takes me back.

  • Imagic was a cool company. They put out really interesting and unique games. Even their copycat games like Demon Attack (copy of Space Invaders) looked and felt unique. Even the shape of their cartridges was unique.

  • I never knew the name of this game! I loved this game too! Awesome!

  • I have this on a green cart along with hoopy, it calls it "Alien Force"

  • And suddenly I have a hankering for beasties grilled with steak seasoning, LOL.

  • This was probably the 1st game i played where alien abduction was involved.Simple game but quite enjoyable.

  • When Imagic games came out I was blown away! I would love it if they had all there games for a wii or 360

  • Dose cgr have merchandise to buy liket shirts

  • It's not I-magic. It's Imagic, like "imagine".

  • Ever play Frost Bite?

  • Rob Fulop, the game's designer, has some good stories about Cosmic Arc on his website. The sparkling stars was actually a fluke, a bug that was discovered while working on Missile Command. All of the best designers at Atari had moved on to Activision and Imagic, and there was a serious rivalry between the two groups, to see who could "wow" the others the most. Great times.

  • I had this game and Atlantis. It was great. However, it wasn't as good as Atlantis, in my opinion. Both games show f-ing outstanding creativity. The only problem I remember as a kid was that it became insanely hard after a few short rounds. You didn't have enough time to "teleport" up the creatures. There might be a pattern but I was not able to pick up on it. This fact made reply value low for me.

  • I had Atlantis and Cosmic Ark. If memory serves, Atlantis was kind of like missile Command and if the city gets destroyed, a little ship flies off into space which sets up the story for Cosmic Ark.

  • I played this.

Then I quasi-forgot about it for 20 years. Or a bit longer, I suppose.

Rediscovery thanks to CGR. And an obsession rekindled. I must be completely nuts for considering this one of the 5 most addictive Atari2600 games, but I just can't get over how fantastic this is. And when I was a kid, I was utterly consumed by the hills "rising" when the big saucer descends... the ways they fought against the hardware limitations were ingenious. I'm just mesmerised by the attempt at 3D backgrnd

  • I still have my 2600-Asteroids!

  • Atlantis was great for the Intellivision but I never played it on the Atari.

  • Beasties? Did Jeff Minter work for Imagic?

  • looks like a fun game.

  • They probably smelled like beer, weed, and pizza. Awesome! I laughed out loud hard on that one.

  • I like this intro better with the classic consoles in view along with the cool retro spin away graphic.

  • this is 2008 classic game room?

  • This was the 1st atari game that I played!! I think I'm going to go play Wolfenstein 3D.

  • i totally remember castle wolfenstein for DOS

  • 1:05 imagic? It's not pronounced like the ipod or iphone lol. You pronounce it like you're saying Imagine. Imagic.

  • @RetroVGamer

    That´s Apple´s fault.

  • @RetroVGamer

thats why i don't like english. not many rules, and most things come from simply how it's meant to be said

  • When I was a kid, I had all the Imagic games. They were definitely some of my favorites.

  • i cant decide....i want the atari 7800, but i want the wood grain finish the 2600 has

  • Being a purist, I think you should go with the 2600, but that depends on what games you want to play.

  • this game is fuckin' awesome. Really tripped out.

  • I have Atlantis for Atari and INTV. Intellivision version graphics wise is alot better and it has that little ship in it (the Atari version don't for some reason). Control wise the INTV version is pretty bad though. In any case never would have thought this was a sequel.

  • I'd go to a party where a bunch of drunk guys were watching Buck Rodgers and playing Atari. :D

  • Atlantis was a super cool game -- with gorgeous graphics. Too bad Classic Game Room HD hasn't reviewed it.

  • Well we see in another review that Mark owns the game, so it should just be a matter of time...

  • @classof77, they did like half an hour ago :D

  • the atlantis review is up

  • i have demon attack cosmic ark and atlantis

  • i have atlantis, do you have it yet or would you like to buy it?

  • You've probably played Atlantis by now... Those were two of my favorite (most played) games from that system, though my favorite was "Riddle of the Sphinx"...

  • "Wee beasties."

    Genius.

  • Oh by the way I think thats really the only way atari cartridges break because in reality they just don't break anyone who tell you otherwise is simply abusive to there games

  • I broke mine before I ever got to play it when I was about 6 years old. (always wanted to see what was inside a atari cartrige) OOPS!

I recently played this game on emulation and had wished I never INTENTIONALLY broke mine.

  • I met my wife at a cosmic ark/atlantis kegger. I think It was when I voted to turn off Battlestar Galactica and put on Buck Rodgers that she first fell in love with me.

  • i remember this great game.

  • i want that intro in the newer ones plz mark

  • This was a cool game.

  • this is one of those games I only played once or twice. I probably didn't play it long enough to get into the interesting things

  • I had Atlantis. It was awesome game. It was kinda like a cross between missile command and space invaders. The graphics were incredible for the 2600. You need to get it.

  • Imagic put out some great games back then I had and still have all of them Demon Attack, Riddle of the sphinx, Alantis, expect this one as no stores around where I lived had it, I actually got two copies of the others one with a plain text label and one with the box art on the label as this apartment I rented a few years back had a suitcase filled with atari 2600 and 7800 carts in the attic they were left there by the orginal tennets.

  • I had both Cosmic and Atlantis. Didn't know these two were created by the same creator, but like Activision, their games were better than Atari's.

  • and activision always seems to have great music in their games, don't they?

  • That's true. Pitfall 2, is a great example.

  • I also had both. I remember loading up Atlantis, playing it until I lost and the Ark launched, then playing Cosmic Ark as the follow up.

  • never played this one, but it looks incredible!D so complex and deep for a 2600 title! i had no idea Atlantis had a sequel either! how cool is that? i'm glad those Atlantians that got away lived on... to molest aliens.P

  • It's like "Hi, we are from Atlantis. Our world got fucked up so now it is time to do the same to you.. we mean, we are here to "save" you. Yes, that is right..."

  • Great game, I remember playing it for hours back in the day, took lots of coordination in the higher levels!

  • I actually had this game, and I got pretty far. After about the 8th area, that's where I ended up out of fuel and kissing a meteor as I was saving the last alien from the planet.

  • loved this game.. the astroid part is stressful!

  • i never saw this game, But I had atlantis and it was awasome the cool thing is that you can download atlantis on internet and play it on you pc.

  • haha I had this game, but I never had the manual so I didn't really understand what the hell this game was. I still remember playing it frequently though. Very funny review.

  • This was the second part of a planned trilogy. After you lose at Atlantis and your planet is destroyed, a tiny ship takes off. That ship is the "Cosmic Ark". After you lose at Cosmic Ark, another smaller ship is seen escaping the exploding ark. BTW, is its "im-agic" not "eye-magic". It's not an early Mac.

  • Hey Mark, I think you're one big-time review away from getting a HUGE influx of subscribers. I may be wrong, but here's what I see happening. 1) You review Grand Theft Auto IV. 2) New people looking on YouTube find your review and think it's funny as all hell. 3) They see that you have about 200 more Game Room videos. 4) Subscriber Explosion. Don't be surprised if you skyrocket from 750 to 2,000 in one night. Because Game Room is the shit.

  • @SashaNein Two Words: Totally True

  • @SashaNein you sad pathetic fuckin geek! Twats like you need shooting!

  • @SashaNein Fuck Grand Theft Auto.

  • @WaxHeadroom You've said it. Atari rules.

  • @SashaNein It came true!

  • @SashaNein and 3 years later hes at over 150,000 ! wayt to go mark for your non sholot smart ass reviews with a truth that so many can relate to! no one will be your equal in your field.

  • *smells shirt* Oh wow it dose smell like weed, pizza and beer. Time to do laundry. Awesome video man! I used to play this game all the time back in the day.
